How do I get my contacts back after upgrade?
The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts. Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
2. If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
3. Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Sorry, by not working I mean I click on the icon and itunes starts up - shows me the library screen with all my music on it, says accessing account and then pops up a message saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I say ok, it closes and goes away!

Just fixed this issue for iTunes for Windows with minimal damage, try:
1. Browse to "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming" in Windows Explorer.
2. Rename the "Apple Computer" folder to "Apple Computer-old".
3. Start iTunes
4. Close iTunes
5. Copy the file "iTunesPrefs.xml" from "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer-old\iTunes"
6. Paste the old "iTunesPrefs.xml" into the new "Apple Computer\iTunes" folder iTunes just created (not the one you renamed) under "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer-old\iTunes"
7. Overwrite the new iTunesPrefs.xml with your old copy of the file.
If you don't care about losing your iTunes preferences then you can just do step 2. You can always go back and grab things from the old folder later if you realize you wanted to have your EQ settings, individual track gains, etc...

Hi. About three days ago when I opened iTunes it asked if I'd like to update. I decided too. After instaling when I opened it I got a message..I'm not sure what it was now, but it said something about needing a new version of Quicktime to opperate. So I downloaded the newest Quicktime. I no longer got that message, however, iTunes will not load. I get the little loading arrow, however thats as far as it goes. My dad tried to fix it and noticed iTunes is running in the background. But only in the background.
I completely uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it from my disc. It still won't load. I'm getting really frustrated because I want to update my iPod and am unable.

I wonder whether you are getting the common conflict problem with Norton AV (or any other AV/antispy software for that matter)
I would recommend this approach
1.Back up your entire iTunes library folder preferably into a separate drive or external memory first. Search the forums if you are not sure how to do this.
2.Ensure you download the iTunes programme to your pc (save to desktop for example) not try to install online.
3.Once you have downloaded iTunes 7 to your pc, disable your AV/Spy software before you try to run the install.
4. Run the install, then reboot and allow your AV/antispy programmes to come back on (if they don't automatically on restart)
Try opening iTunes
If you have done this, and it still doesn't work, it may be your chosen AV software and/or firewall is not allowing iTunes to start up. Check the setting on your software in this regard.
I appreciate it is very frustrating when this happens, but be patient and search the forums. There are fixes for just about every problem!:)
In the worst case scenario you may have a nasty little virus which is blocking your iTunes launch. If you don't get any luck with the earlier method, try downloading and running EWIDO (an AV programme) scan and see if that helps as well. www.ewido.net/en/

Firefox not only disappears from my dock but also from my Applications folder. I tried to downl0ad it again today (5/19/2011), however, it says my system isn't compatible because I don't have an Intel processor. Any suggestions. Help Please!! my computer won't finish my update for my iphone and it says it needs to restore my iphone. I don't know why it is doing this? Monday I ended up on the phone with Apple Support just to be sure I was doing the right thing and to check my back up info so I could be sure I didn't loose important data. They were very nice and helped me finish the process. When I told the tech that I couldn't download the new update and install from my iphone that is when I went to the computer and that's when I got this recovery mode thing on my phone. He told me there must have been a problem and that is why he thinks I couldn't down load it from the phone. I had to go to ITunes on my computer. Once we did the recovery we were able to check that I had a back up from the day before, so I didn't loose anything. He stayed with me til the process finished. I also found out I can prevent the auto sync for the future by setting the directions on that.
I am good now and my phone is operating fine, with the new update. Thank you all who commented back to me. -

Synch them back from whatever contact manager or cloud service you stored them in.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

the same problem happened to me also, i felt that while playing hay day, if some calls came in between and if i answered the call, the setting of all the icloud items turns off. (i have backup of all the items on icloud), after deleting the account and making settings of mail, contact, calander etc on on mode and after rebooting the phone, it again download from icloud server. but it is just a headache. do not know how to handle this.

Many logins & passwords were lost after last update
Automatic login and passwords were lost after the last firefox update. Or should I say would not work until I re-entered them.
A search found they were still there, plus the new entries I saved.
Other logins were lost totally, no passwords were lost.
I did send an immediate report to tech support but heard nothing.
Is it safe to update the new version or am I having to re-enter my logins and passwords again.
I have used firefox for many years as my main browser, I mostly only want to use a different browser when I want to open two different email accounts.Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
If a website decides to invalidate such a remember-me cookie after noticing an update (e.g. 6.0.1 to 7.0.1) then you will have to re-enter your credentials to create a new cookie. -

It really can take very long to import and process so many images - I would not dare to make a prediction.
Can you open the Activity Viewer?
From Aperture's main menu bar: Window > Show Activity.
This window will tell you the filename of the image that is currently being processed.
if you are seeing, that the import is still far from being finished, you might to pause certain tasks directly from this panel, like the generation of previews or scanning for faces. I'd let the import run, if you see that it is making progress.
Have you enabled very time-consuming options, like the generation of high resolution previes or scanning for faces and places? if yes, and the import is not making any progress at all, I'd disable thes options in the Aperture preferences for the initial import. You can add these later for the projects where you want to use these features.

okay. when i connected my iphone 5 to itunes it replaced all of the data from my old iphone 3gs (contacts, apps, notes, bookmarks,photos, music, everything you can possibly think of) with my new iphone 5's data. I am so frustrated with this. Why? and it did it by itself, i didnt touch anything, or clicked anything. please help me this is urgent! I am a businessman and need my contacts.
You're iPhone was probably set to automatically sync with your iTunes upon plugging it in. Best option is to restore from a backup, either on iCloud or your computer.

I just restored my 13" MBP i5 at the apple store to the newest version of Lion after issues with a previous Time Machine backup from Snow Leopard- this time I created a new account and just ported files and folders, and now MS Office doesn't work.
^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:

Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)

I am suddenly unable to update or download apps on my iphone 3G. It says "the download will be available after you log in to itunes from your computer." I never had to do that before. Even when I do log in from the computer, the download still doesn't work. So what's going on? Why would I need to go the computer to download an app to my phone?
