TS1363 Are there instructions for Windows 8?

I can see my IPod Shuffle 4th gen in Windows Explorer (Windows 8) but it won't appear in ITunes.  I've reloaded ITunes two times.  The instructions for My Computer describe an earlier version of Windows.  How do I access the features for My Computer for Windows 8?

Same result from that URL.  Downloaded and then ran the download.    Installed version is 11.0.06.  Trying to install 11.0.07 and then 11.0.08 security patch.  Program tries to install, gets very near the end and then rolls back.  I then get a message that nothing has been changed.

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

  • Are there updates for photoshop elements 2.0 for Windows 7?

I want use my photoshop elements 2.0 on my Window
s 7 computer.  Are there updates for version 2.0?

No updates for pse 2, but pse 2 should run fine on windows 7.
(pse 2 came out long before windows 7, but runs better on vista and 7
than any recent versions of elements, go figure)
    Install as an administrator.
The only exception to this is if your hard drive is bigger than 1tb,
then pse 2 probably won't work unless your version of windows 7
can use the virtual xp mode.

If you are seldom in a Wi-Fi Network Area, then you can turn off Wi-Fi until you knowingly are in such a Network Area.  You can go through your Applications where you don't really need to know the instant an Update is available and turn off the push update notifications.  You can turn down the screen brightness.  You can set the sleep cycle to 1-min.  You could set your email to check for new messages every 30-min. rather than less than 1 min.  Just some of many steps available.

  • Is there itunes for windows ME 98?

    DELL   Windows ME
I recently purchased an ipod nano. Is there itunes for windows ME 98.....?????????
    DELL   Windows ME

Sorry, but you cannot use iTunes under Windows ME. For just synchronizing tracks with your iPod, you could get a third-party utility such as Anapod, Ephpod, or Xplay for handling the transfer. I haven't used any of these, so I can't make any recommendations. These applications cannot connect to the iTunes Music Store, so unless you upgrade, you won't be fully supported and will not be able to purchase tracks from the iTMS.
I strongly suggest you consider upgrading your version of Windows, though. Windows ME is no longer supported by Microsoft and it's going to get harder and harder to find applications that will work under 95/98/ME.
    Hope this helps.

  • I am traveling to Europe next week - what are dialing instructions for calling US vs calling around Europe?

I am traveling to Europe next week - what are dialing instructions for calling US vs calling around Europe?

    +1 for the USA
+XX for the whole of Europe (Replace XX with the country code you're visiting)
What countries are you going to?
With Dial assist, it should understand if you dial a local number in whichever countries you're visiting.
For example of what local ones will look like:
    05573/23441
    03 02 33 55 22
If you want to dial with the country code, you can drop the 0 that leads off pretty much all european numbers. (the 0 in parentheses)
    For example, you see a number like this: +44 (0)7725 100 100
    You can either dial +44 7725 100 100 or 07725 100 100 if you have a UK SIM card.
But it all depends on the home country your SIM card is from which will determine how well local dialing works without using the country code.
If you're travelling to multiple countries, you will recieve an SMS from the network telling you the roaming rates.
Also, I can recommend you to get the Magicjack app, it's free to download and will let you call any phone in the USA and Canda across any data connection (3G/Wifi) Free and unlimited too!

  • Are the instructions for installing Windows xp easy for a REAL NOVICE?

OK. I apologize in advance. I'm really not very computer literate. I just got a intel core duo mini, and would like to run windows programs.
This is what I understand I must do, by reading the threads here...
    1. Buy Windows xp
    2. Download/Install a program called "bootcamp", I assume from apple.
    3. Run bootcamp assistant (the install placed the program in applications->utilities)
    * This is where I worry... I found these instructions for completing the installation.
    4. create the drivers cd
? Does Bootcamp explain how to do this?
    5. partition the hard drive
? Again, does the assistant help you figure out what to do? I've never understood partitions...
    6. reboot with the xp install disk in the drive
    7. install xp
? I assume windows program will tell you how to do this...
    8. install the drivers that you burned on a cd.
? To install the drivers do you double click them? Drag them somewhere?
So sorry I'm asking such basic questions. I've searched here, and looked at the manual, but the answers are often over my head. Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to hold my hand.
Off to ebay to try to buy a "new in box" copy of windows...
Mac Mini, Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    12-inch powerbook g4

I have installed XP home with no problem on the same Mac Mini you have.
Just Look for the bootcamp in Apps folder double click and make your drivers cd. then you make a partition (i made a 10 gb), name it if you want.
After that Restart & insert the Win XP (wSP2) follow instalation as you would do it on a regular PC. The instalation restarts again in windows XP. fill the forms & question asked in win xp for registration, and when finished, eject the Win XP cd restart once more and insert the mac drivers. they will be installed automatically (autorun when inserted)
The most important thing is to have your XP original... Everything goes faster & more stable.
    Good Luck

  • I would like to test FireFox5 but need to keep my FF4 running as is - are there instructions anywhere for how to do a parallel install?

    Background:
I use IE for everyday browsing, and FF4 for a proxy-tunnel when travelling. Given the new features in FF5 - fuller SVG implementation, SMIL animation set, and CSS animations I would like to test FF5 - or at least be able to view the demos you provide/link to. Thus my question to instructions for doing a parellel install.
    Thank you

Thank you - I had found this article but since it dealt with earlier releases I wasn't sure how much of it was relevant for FF4 & FF5 installations.

  • Install Instructions for Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 running in Boot Camp

These are the instructions I used to install Windows XP Mode on my 27" iMac while booted into Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on the Boot Camp partition, I posted them in a reply to another thread but thought they might be useful as a higher level topic.
Reboot into Windows 7 on your iMac and follow these instructions:
    1. Download and install Windows XP mode from the following Microsoft website. You do not need an XP installation disk, XP will be installed automatically by this process (there are three links to click, in order, to install this. The site will perform a Windows Genuine Advantage check and you may need to make sure your browser allows certain items or the install will stall until you do, look for warnings or permissions during installation in the menu bar of the browser):
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
    2. After you complete the 3rd installation step, check your Start menu in Windows 7 and look for Windows Virtual PC. Open it and double click Windows XP Mode (it should be the only thing in there) to boot up XP.
    3. You can adjust the amount of RAM you allocate to XP mode by going to the Start Menu --> Windows Virtual PC again, then right click on Windows XP Mode, then choose Settings.
It works great but I can't get it to fill my 27" screen in full screen mode, let me know if you figure out how to do that. --thanks

  • Are there instructions to uninstall Elements 7 and Elements 10

    Hello,
Could somebody please help me?  I purchased a new laptop and I have to return it because it's been giving me a lot of problems.  I have to uninstall Elements 7 and Elements 10 before I return it.
Are there specific instructions and links to uninstall these 2 programs?
Or, can I just use the Windows uninstall programs to completely uninstall them?
    Thanks for your assistance!

    Good morning, Barbara.
Oh I see, I didn't know that.  I called the regular 1-800-585-0774 number.  I had to wait for 18 mins to get a regular person, which then put me on hold for another long time, then she transferred me - and the line just kept on ringing and ringing.  All in all, I waited for 1 hour and 5 minutes, until I went to chat with the Adobe lady - even while I was chatting with her the phone just kept on ringing.  So, no, I'm not impressed with the kind of phone support they gave me.
Thanks for the number.  After your last message I decided to just uninstall the thing.  Then I uninstalled a couple of other things and ran a System Restore.  The laptop is all packed and ready to go, I'll be going to the post office to mail it back to QVC in a little while.
Thanks for your assistance.  Have a great weekend.

  • Replacement internal optical drives. Are there tricks for young players?

My La Cie internal optical 16x started bumping and grinding, not releasing disks and finally not detecting disks. It went in for repair under warranty but the distributor said LaCie is no longer supplying internal optical drives. I got an external as a replacement but I still want to replace the original 4x internal drive.
I've seen a Sony DRU830A 18x internal and also one of the LiteOn internal 16x models.
My questions are: Are all these types of drives the same form factor, power usage and connections that will fit the G5 bay? ... even if they say Windows a lot on the box? (I'm aware I need to remove the front bezel and also put on the mounting screws).
Are there any other requiirements for them to work with the Mac hardware and software or will they just be automatically detected and 'acquired'? I don't care about all the bundled Windows software. However I know the internal DVD drive needs to be initialised and somehow 'certified' and regioned for DVD player to use it.

Thanks maclover for your reply and the links. The xlr8yourmac forums on CD-DVD drives were particularly relevant. One thing I noticed is that it's best to just enter 'DVD+R/RW - DVD-R/RW' and then just the brand of drive you're interested in. With all the other fields blank you get a large selection of posts, generally including the model you want info about, but even the info about installation experiences with different models is useful. However if you get very specific about your Mac model and OS version the search can return not even one post. Turns out most of the posts are about installing drives in G4s, iMacs, iBooks etc.
Flashing the drive: this seems to be a real problem in updating the firmware for any number of drives you might want to use in a Mac. In checking the company sites for Sony, Pioneer, LiteOn etc. there's always a firmware update available for download but it's an .exe file for Windows. Other posters have noted that this requires attaching the drive to a Windows machine to flash the ROM. How very convenient. With a drive you've just bought new this probably isn't all that important although when they list the improvements in the latest revision it would be useful to be able to do it. For those trying to upgrade an older drive to burn at 16x and dual layer, they're kind of out of luck. I take it you can't do this upgrading while you're running Virtual PC - no one's mentioned that you could. But I wonder if it would now be possible with the Intel Macs running Windows via Boot Camp. Either that or the service sections of Apple Stores could run a Wintel box and offer a service to flash the ROM if you took the file in on a USB pocket drive. Void your warranty while U Wait.
Thanks again, The Pioneer DVR - 111D looks like a successful candidate as a replacement drive. Posters also report good results with current LiteOn and Sony models. In fact one reports that the LiteON IS the Sony (and also the BenQ) - just $40 cheaper locally. Probably without the Windows Nero software the Sony bundles. A service technician also reported successful results with an LG internal.
    Cheers, Peter.

  • Are LabView licenses for Windows transferrable to Mac OS X?

I can't seem to find any information on this subject on the National Instruments or in a search on this forum, so hopefully someone can answer these questions.
My lab has 3 licenses for the use of LabView 8.5 in our lab, although the instructions that I've been given to install LabView involve downloading the trial software from National Instruments' website, and then using the activation code to activate the software. Trouble is, the trial software is for Windows only, and I was hoping to be able to run LabView on the Mac in our lab.
Are the licenses for LabView transferrable across platforms, or does my lab need to specifically purchase a version of LabView for the Mac? If the licenses *are* transferrable, how do I request a CD for the Mac installers if we've already purchased LabView for Windows? Furthermore, if I'm able to use these licenses on a Mac, is it possible to install the Windows version on my Mac on my Boot Camp partition, and install the Mac version on my Mac OS X partition and only use up one license? I'm not sure if all of our hardware has drivers that will run under Mac OS X on an Intel Mac, and I don't want to be penalized for this by having to use up two licenses on the same machine.
Any answers to these questions would be much appreciated.

    Hi SimX,
The LabVIEW licenses are not transferrable directly, since LabVIEW for Windows and LabVIEW for Mac are entirely different products and have different installers.
In this case, you should contact your local sales representative to see what your options are. You can find the email contact information at http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nicc.call_me?p_lang_id=us, or call in to 866-ASK-MYNI (866-275-6964).

  • Are there suggestions for managing Multiple VMWare Fusion systems sharing files with a MacBook?  Suppose I have enough ram for 3 servers to share files.

Suppose I have enough ram for 2 or three VMWare fusion systems to that could benefit from file sharing.  Is it possible to configiure each VMWare funsion instance to have a common read only file share on my desktop and a common read/write area on on my desktop?
This would allow me to extend the power and mustle of my Mac Book Air, Retina Display system to its best advantage.  Whether native Mac processing or speciality linux or Windows systems as needed.
I am having trouble allowing more than one system to share the same read only and the same read/write areas so that software does the file locking and merge controls.  Even if these do not share a common read/write area, it would be truly handy for drive space management for them to share a common read only area.
    Thanks for your thoughtful input.

It really denpends on the os running in the vm and what the permissions are set to on those shares.
I run a few vms on both a mac at home and windows at work and all other computers in my home or at work can connect to the vms without any problems. Even multiple computer at the same time.
It also depends on how you have set the vm up for networking. If you are setting it up as nat, instead of bridged, that can also cause problems access it from multiple system. With nat the vm is on its own network branch.
