IPod is recognized only in Windows not iTunes

Basically, my iPod Touch 4G does not show up on iTunes, it only charges when plugged in by USB. Windows recognizes it, but iTunes doesn't seem to. My iPod is recognized on another computer, but seeing as I have all my music on this computer I have no interest in using another.
I have tried the following:
- Restoring my iPod (from different PC)
- Restarting PC
- Restarting iPod
- Re-installing iTunes (around 8-10 times)
- Updating to latest software on iOS & iTunes
- Connecting using brand-new USB
I have failed. I am ready to give up on my iPod and get rid of it. Does anyone know the fix..?

Did you also try to remove all Apple related software before you reinstalled iTunes again? Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista and 7

IPod shows up on Windows, not iTunes

recently someone in my family passed down their ipod nano to someone else in the family because the former had just purchased the new nano. The operating system the original ipod nano was used on was windows xp professional and functioned fine as well as iTunes. However, after changing the name of the ipod and using itunes on a seperate user profile, itunes no longer recognized an ipod in the drive, even though windows recognized it as a detachable drive.
So far i've tried making the account an administator account to see if it would recognize it, but it did not work. I've also considered reinstalling itunes, but i do not want to do that because i am not sure whether or not it would clear out the first person's library, who uses a seperate XP profile. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer Playlist from iPhone 4 to Windows computer iTunes

I often edit/create playlists on my phone. Is there a way to transfer your playlists from your iphone to itunes on the computer? I have tried syncing, .xml file export/import, dragging and dropping - nothing works. Sync only copies iTunes to phone, not reverse. .xml file export / import imports the name of playlist, but no songs, and dragging and dropping did nothing at all (this was a shot in the dark). PLEASE HELP!

IPhone ringtones... not iTunes!

Okay I bought the iPhone and so far I love it... except for one thing... the ringtones that come installed are super bad... I mean I now have this modern futuristic phone, something that reminds me of some gadget you would see on the "Jetsons" or something... very cool, but why on earth would I want this cool piece of technology to ring like a duck, old car horn or a pinball machine?! I want some futuristic rings! I really don't want music from my itunes as a ringtone. I really love my music but I HATE the idea of a part of a song playing as a ringtone. I want some beeping kinda synthicised sounds... kinds space age maybe... Is Apple ever going to make anything better? I looked up electronic, synthicised and simular catergories in iTunes, hoping to make something myself, but unfortunatly nothing I found had the "ringtone" icon next to it. I went to sound effects on iTunes, and the same story, no icons!
If I were a teenage girl I might like a little music ringtone... It makes me not want to keep the phone. I thought Apple would have ben a little more original regarding this. Any help?

You are new to the forums, so you probably don't know about the search feature. Run a search for ringtones and you will see that this issue has been addressed many times.
As of current, there is only one way to add ringtones - the iTunes store. What they have available are your options.

The short story is: If the ringtones are a deal breaker for you, you probably need to return the phone.

Receiveing "Unable to load data from Sync Services" message following iOS 5 Upgrade on iPhone 4 w/ Windows Vista, iTunes 10.5.1. How do I repair?

I upgraded my phone to iOS 5 yesterday. Lost several apps which I restored through my Purchased list in the iStore. Now when I try to sync the phone using iTunes, I receive an error message advising iTunes is unable to load data from Sync Services, and to disconnect and try again later. Have tried again later...no difference. After I acknowledge the error, iTunes continues to say it is Syncing the phone, but it continues to idle.
I have an iPhone 4. I am running iTunes 10.5.1.42 on a Windows Vista system.
What do I need to do to clear this up?

From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

If your iPhone is recognized by the computer, but not seen by iTunes, you may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service, as described in this article -
