well i did..everything that i could find?
What i think it is is that the ipod is put into a camera port or format and i need it to go back to the USB port but i dont know how to change the setting for the ports? I have uninstalled it many times and reloaded it and shut/restart.. My ipod doesnt open in the devise management it opens in the portable devices???? i dont know why it is doing this?I reinstalled iTunes and did everything i could find that could fix it.... Please if you can figure this out reply! i dont want to take it in i would be charged 100 or so! please i need help!!!

    I had to dispute several unauthorized charges to itunes. My apple id was disabled after that. I followed jarnoldus's (older post) advice and it worked. Im duplicating his entry here with a few modifications. I hope this works for you.
    1. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com
    2. Choose your product (mine was ipad)
    3. Click the "iTunes, App Store or iBooks" icon
    4. Click "Apple ID account security"
    5. Type in "apple id has been disabled"
    6. Choose your country (mine was US)
    7. Choose the "talk to apple support now" option
    8. Provide the info they request (name, email, phone number)
    9. They will call you right away.
    Explain your apple id has been disabled. The rep will connect you to an iTunes rep. He/she will look up your account. You will be required to answer your 3 security questions. You MUST get a minimum of 2 correct. If you succeed they will enable your id. Good luck!

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Itunes - freezing/not responding: why?

    Anyoone else think that there is an increase in the frequency of Itunes freezing?  It sure is happening with my Itunes over the last weeks.  And twice in under five minutes, a moment ago.
    Anyone have a solution to the issue?  Certainly, yesterday's update made no improvement.

  • Why does my iTunes window freeze and wont close until i shut my computer down, when the "iTunes is not the default media player" message appears? and how do i fix this? i just want to fix my music, but it freezes and i can't use my computer correctly.

    when i plug my iPod into my computer, iTunes opens as normal, but for a while it's been giving me a message that says "iTunes is not the default media player" and after i 'tried' to do that, i'll close the settings window and my iTunes window will freeze and not close, reload, or anything. and if i "open drvice to view files" that window will freeze too, the internal storage window. i can't get iTunes to close with ALT+F4, or right clicking the tab on the bottom of the screen to close it, or clicking the 'X' button. the only way it closes is when i shut down my computer. please help me fix this. Its getting Really Really tiring having to restart my computer over and over.

    Open iTunes and connect your iPod. Select your iPod in iTunes from the Source list. (I'm assuming this still works, although you didn't indicate if it did or didn't.) Make sure the box is checked to Open iTunes when this device is connected. You should be all set!

    I need to update my operating system, but when I go into settings and then general I do not have the software option even available. What can I do? Aim not sure what operating system I'm currently working with I know it is not the iOS 5 or newer.

    You'll need to connect the iPad to a computer running iTunes. Then update through that.

    Can anyone plese tell me how to fix my problem? I have successfully down loaded itunes and quicktime, however, everytime I finish importing a cd or eject my daughters ipod the program stops working. It freezes and my task manager states it is no longer responding. It also freezes up the rest of the programs and my only solution is to restart the computer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    This is my problem as well. I have reinstalled twice and still have the same issue. I have tried setting up a new user account on my computer no luck. I am in the same sinking ship.

    You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

    Try signing out of the iTunes Store, closing iTunes, then reopening. Does the error occur?
    See also Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows. Not sure it is relevant but can't hurt.
    It may help to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time anti-virus scanner.
