TS1365 macbook pro plugged in not charging

my macbook pro complains plugged in not charging, i have changed different chargers and battery and still no solution to the problem

Blair,
Read through this knowledge base article on troubleshooting MagSafe and see that all is well with that part of the system.  Do you get the MagSafe LED when attached, and what color?  Does it show amber or does it stay solid green, or nothing at all?
What does the battery condition show: apple menu, upper left corner of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power - battery Condition, Capacity, Cycles and Voltage?

Look at the power adapter connection on the MBP and make certain that it is clean and not discolored.
    Trya SMC reset:

Either the power brick is damaged, or the charging circuit is on the blink, or both. Either way, a trip to the Apple Store or the Apple Authorized Service Provider is in order, as this ain't no bargain basement toy.
In the meantime, can attempt an SMC Reset to see if it helps.

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro battery will not charge after plugging in firewire cable shut down computer

I have a mid 2010 15" Macbook pro with Lion installed.
I was running off battery, and I went to plug in a firewire cable, not plugged into anything, and when I inserted it, the computer shut off.
The computer would not turn on again without being plugged into the AC adaptor. The magsafe charger shows green, but the computer says not charging. The battery is showing 57%, but the indicator lights will only light up when AC charger is connected..
I have let it sit off, and plugged in for a couple hours, and nothing chages, and let it sit overnight not plugged in, but nothing.
I have read other forums about the same issue,, it seems like its a common issue, and some have said what it could be, but no one said what it IS.
I have tried resetting the SMC and PRAM, but to no avail.
When i plug in the AC adaptor, the computer immediately turns on (which I find kond of funny), and I am able to turn it off normally, and it will stay off, and I can also turn it on if the charger has been connected from pervious.

  • Help! MacBook Pro Late 2011 Not Charging

My MacBook Pro Late 2011 is Not Charging. I have tried plugging it into multiple outlets and none have succeeded. He is a screenshot of my System Information>Power: http://grab.by/tkOM. I have no clue what happened. Last night we had a massive storm, but I don't believe there was any thunder or lightning. Whenever I plug the adapter into an outlet, the battery usage in the top right hand corner shows the "plugged in" icon, then it shows the "charging" icon. Then it just goes blank and back to normal. I have tried to restart it and do the SMC or whatever, but nothing seems to work. I have had this charger for a little bit over 1 year. Thanks in advance!

    Hey Angelo_here,
    I'd run through these steps:
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for further diagnosis. • MacBook Pro 15" Retina Not Charging

My MacBook Pro is not charging. I've plugged in the charger connected to a working power supply and the LED light does not light up like it always does in green. My macbook does not charge; it does not display any "not charging" message too. I need my laptop up quickly to finish a school project! Tried doing the smc reset but it does not work for me :( any advice?

You might not need a whole new charger.
It's common for the fuse to blow, and that's in the detachable plug - the bit with the prongs, that goes into the power socket.
So, you might just need to buy a new plug (about £15) or replace the fuse (a couple of quid and a few minutes fiddling).  You can find tutorials on YouTube.

  • Macbook Pro battery is not charging but the battery meter is full

    Hi guys!
I have a 19 months macbook pro. I've tried using 2 different AC adapter but my mac's battery is still at 0% and the status says "Battery is not charging". I think my battery is dead but the LED battery indicator on my battery shows 5 lights, means its at full power.
I've tried to disconnect the AC cable and remove the battery, then press the power button for 10 sec but nothing change when i start my mac again...i also tried to reset my PRAM ( i think ) by holding a cmdopt+PR while rebooting but it didn't help to solve the problem too. I also have the battery update 1.2 installed on my mac and the results is still the same.
This is my battery info from system profiler. I hope someone can tell me what to do before I visit the Apple store.

    Hello,
I am having some strange battery behavior. I bought a FastMac TruePower Battery that is supposed to have extended capacity. Now when the battery dies, i plug in my MagSafe to charge it and it immediately says 'not charging', but then begins to charge. It either continues to charge and gets stuck at 80% or so and reads "calculating" in the menu bar, or just jumps between 'charging' and 'not charging'. The symptoms are very strange, and FastMac already sent this battery back saying it passes all of their tests. I do not want to send it back again because they charged me to send it back to myself even though it still does not work as advertised. I have my original Macbook Pro Apple battery which still charges fine, so i assume it is a problem with the battery based on a simple process of elimination.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 battery not charging error code

My Macbook Pro just turned 1 year old and the battery might be defective or dead ( Warranty just passed by ) it originally cam with Snow Leopard but I WEB upgraded to Lion (which was far from being easy ... had alot of crashes and hanging happening)
I have the now infamous battery not charging problem. The OSX status bar shows the battery icon with a 'X' meaning no battery. I think the MacBook is not charging the battery because OSX doesn't see a battery.
Today I just noticed that (IMPORTANT) with the power adapter connected, pressing the battery power level button displays a 5 blinks code. Otherwise with power adaptor not connected, the battery seems even too weak to light up even a single LED".
Even though I do a proper shutdown, it is to note that the MacBook Pro starts right away when I plug the power adaptor. I starts right away without me even pressing the power button.
Yerterday I really though the MacBook Pro was not going to work anymore, it kept abruptly shuting down again and again. I couldn't do any of the work I was supposed to.
I did PRAM and SMC resets and eventually I was able to startup the MacBook Pro and do some work but the battery still remains unavailable.
I have 2 of the same 85 Watt charger ( the first one being from a previous MacBook Pro 2008 --- which is waiting to get a repair ) and both performs the same: not charging.
Maybe the battery discharged beyond the point it can be seen my the MacBook Pro and OSX. Just like car battery, if it get discharges way too much, you won't even see the nominal voltage on the terminals even without any load.
EDIT: just noticed that even though it looks like no battery OSX reports that power source IS BATTERY (in the OSX status top bar )

It's like mpg for a car. It depends upon how you drive, the weather, the terrain. "7 hours" doesn't mean anything. Your mileage will vary. If I am not doing anything I see 13 hours. As soon as I start surfing or watching a video it changes. Stop obsessing.

  • Macbook Pro battery is not charging.

    Hi,
I recently purchased a replacement battery for my aging (2006) Macbook Pro.
The battery did just fine, but only for 5 cycles. Now, it permanently shows a status of "not charging".
I had started to think that maybe my power block had developed a fault, but eliminated that by going to a local re-seller who kindly let me plug it in using one of their blocks. I got the same status.
Can anybody tell me anything from evaluating my status data, or better still, suggest a fix before I go about returning the battery? I am particularly foxed by the fact that this appears to show the battery condition as 'Normal'.

  • MacBook Pro late 2013 not charging

    Hello guys!
Well, I'm having a problem with my laptop. (MacBook Pro late 2013, 15" 2.3 GHz, 16 GB ram etc) Today, my battery went down to 3% and I connected it to its charger but it does not do anything. No light at all and of course no charging. As far as I can remember, before it died it did not show "Not charging" instead of the battery percentage or anything. Tried removing the long cable and using the short one but still nothing. Tried different outlets, nothing. I read on the internet multiple suggestions and tried most of them (its dead so I can not do anything software related). Tried cleaning the MagSafe, turning it upside down, warming up the charger a little, still nothing. The complicated things are: I live in Greece (no apple stores), so i cannot just go to the genius bar to get it checked. It probably is the charger, but it might as well be a problem with the device itself, and I cannot just buy another charger to try it since they are expensive. By the way, once a few months ago, the charger got really hot and did not work at all until it cooled down a little. Any other advice?

  • SMC Reset and Macbook Pro Battery still not charging

Hi, I bought a new Macbook Pro the Christmas before last (2 years ago) and unfortunately didn't remember to buy the AppleCare. (Didn't have the money to purchase it as I was buying the computer) Anyway, today my charger decided to stop recharging the battery. The battery icon says the battery is charging but the LED light on the charger is not on at all and when I click on the battery status it says "Battery is Not Charging." I've already tried the usual troubleshooting and Resetting the SMC but it didn't work. I also checked the status on the battery and my computer said it was Normal. What else can I do? I really need this laptop for college and the battery has to be usable.

If available, try a different charger.
What does System Report>Power say under AC CHARGER INFORMATION?
    Ciao.

  • Retina MacBook Pro Late 2013 not charging?

Bought my MacBook about a year ago, and very happy with it.
However just a couple of days ago, it stopped charging? The light wouldn't come on at all..
So I opened up my spare MagSafe 2 charger and tried that in a different power outlet and it still didn't work
I've done some research and I have checked that the battery is still in 'good' condition (checked it in the utilities or something) and that it does not need replacing at the moment
so perhaps something is wrong with the port?
stupidly enough I have not backed up my laptop, and it has plenty of important files
    what should I do?

    Hi ridgeleyy,
If you are having an issue with being unable to charge your MacBook Pro's battery using either power adapter, I would suggest that your next step would be to reset the system management controller. Use the steps in this article -

  • Macbook pro battery reports not charging replace now

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro reports that it is not charging and the status is "replace now". This is an early 2008 model so is it simply the fact that the battery is due for replacement or could there be another explanation :
I have not used the Mac Book for a few months and battery lasted 3-4 hours on last use.
The battery has only had 30 power cycles, I thought that average should be about 300 ?
Did Apple recall/replace known issues with batteries in this model/date, even so it probably isn't valid now ?
    Thanks
    Jake

There have not any battery recalls that I am aware of.  I suggest you go to the Apple store and have the MBP examined.  Your cycle count is very low but the battery is not new, coupled with the fact the MBP warning message is there for a purpose.
    Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro battery does not charge

My macbook pro is dead after the battery went flat. Now the battery will not charge, the LED on the power cord remains green, and I am unable to turn on the computer. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem?

When the battery is really dead there are three possibilities:
    - Reset the SMC and hope the problem went
    - Bring it to an Apple Service Provider, if it's covered under warranty
    - Buy a new battery
All if it is the battery, and not something else with the power adapter or the MacBook Pro itself.

  • MacBook Pro 2012 Battery Not Charging

I have this 1-year old MacBook Pro 13" 2012 model. It was working fine till one day, it decided to die, just like that. Now it shows "Battery Not Chaging, Condition: Replace Now". What do i do? It has done only 200 charge cycles. Resetting SMC/PRAM does not do anything, except that the fans run louder.
What do I do now? Is there any fix (SMC Firmware Upgrade) or do I take it to a Service Center ? I want to avoid paying unnecessary money.

    Sham3k wrote:

Yes.  Take it to an Apple store genius bar and have them check the MBP. The evaluation will be free.  If a new battery is required (which the 'Replace Now' indicates), then you should have one installed.  Though unlikely, there may be another issue that may not require replacement.
    Ciao.
