TS1368 click on itunes and it states new itunes library error

I was downloading music 2 days ago and went to log on today and it states New itunes Library.
Did I lose all my information/account

So I just downloaded the new itunes, and immediately after it started acting up.  I would click on it, it would start loading for about 3 seconds, and then it would completely die.
Are you getting any sort of error message, Al? if so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • System Restore to previous iTunes version caused "New iTunes Library" error

So like others I upgraded to 11; tried to keep an open mind but the thing keeps hanging up on me, running slowly, and wow I hate not being able to see my playlists next to my library. Even little things like deleting a song from a playlist and iTunes not automatically playing the next song bother me to no end.
SO, I decided to try a System Restore to my previous iTunes version but now I can't open iTunes due to a "New iTunes Library" error. /facepalm
I'm assuming it has something to do with 11 changing my Library file format and the file not reverting during the restore? Or something?
Is there anything I can do at this point? Any easy fix I'm not aware of?
Or will I have no choice but to uninstall/re-install the previous iTunes? (If this truly is the only solution could you please point me in the direction of the easiest way to go about it, I'm somewhat computer-literate but I've heard that it can be a pain in the butt)
I'm sure my songs themselves are fine, right? So my main thing is that I REALLY don't want to lose my playlists, I have dozens of them, that's what I'm the most worried about. I do keep all my music/playlists fairly up to date on my iPod as well, if that would help me restore my library. Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes. (Substitute iTunes 10.7)
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
    Open iTunes.

  • New itunes library error. How do I fix this?

When I try to open itunes up on my laptop the "new itunes library" error message pops up.  When I plug in my itouch/iphone, itunes still doesn open. The same message pops up.  I downloaded another itunes and installed it without doing anything to my original itunes, but then I get an error message stating the older version cannot be removed. HELP!?!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I'm getting an" itunes library error(-54) saying my library wasn't saved. What did I do?

  • TS1368 The file iTunes library.itl can not be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes.

Why can't I get into my itunes library anymore?  I've purchased hundreds of songs in the past 3 years. When it asks me "would you like to download the newer version? I click yes and successfully download the latest yet I still cant access my library.

Unless you have attempted to downgrade to an older version of iTunes this is likely to be a sign of a corrupt library. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

  • Can iTunes take songs from the Shuffle and create a new album library.

.. or is it a one way street? if i accept the prompt given:
The iPod "edjshuffle" is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes library and replace all existing songs on this iPod with those from this library? <YES><NO>
... by selecting <YES> I'm afraid I will lose all the songs currently on my iPod Shuffle. But if I say no my Shuffle remains unrecognized by iTunes.
... and yes WindowsXP does recognize my Shuffle as a USB drive.
Can't I simply rename or remove the new library with my old iTunes Music Library??? [tried this and it gave the same prompt.
    HELP!

The iTunes/shuffle synchronization is (mostly) a one way street, and the shuffle can only belong to one computer at a time.

  • ITunes Library Error (new error to me)

I receive an error when I was importing a CD. This is a new one to me. The error is: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54). I have never seen this error before. Can someone tell me what it means and how to correct? Thanks for any feedback.

Error -54 can occur, when a file is locked or you are having permission errors.
Do you have enough free disk space to write the imports to your hard drive?
Check the permissions on your iTunes folder. Make sure you have read/write permissions, and apply that permissions to the enclosed items. You can check the permissions in the Info panel odf the iTunes folder (select it in the Finder and use File > Get Info).

  • ITunes sometimes won't open and displays "Choose iTunes Library" error

I have the latest current update of iTunes 8.2.0 for Mac OS X v10.4. Since the introduction of iTunes 8, from time to time, I get an error message where iTunes doesn't even load at all, and the software wants to "Choose iTunes Library" or quit. So I simply quit iTunes, then restart iTunes, and the problem is taken care of but this happens a lot, and I haven't had any problems with earlier versions of iTunes before the 8.0 update. One of the things I would like to see in the next big update to iTunes is some advancements in Cover Flow, like when browsing through Cover Flow on an iPod touch, you're able to click on the album artwork and then the list of songs are displayed. I wish that Cover Flow on iTunes had the same type of user control as Cover Flow on the iPhone OS.

Well the problem has only occurred one time since I have upgrades from 8.2.1 to 9.0.1. Plus I learned that every month week or two, I probably need to verify and repair permissions on the hard drive on Mac OS X. iTunes 9.0.1 has fixed the problem and 8.0 had a lot of bugs and problems that thankfully was fixed.

i just saved my iphoto original library to my external hard drive, now how do i create new space on my hard drive and create a new iphoto library

Trash the copy of the library you just moved. Then Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
But do you want to have two iPhoto Libraries? Why not just use the one on the External?

  • Vista - Updating iTunes Library Error, Freeze, Blue Screen - Work Around?!

I may have a solution & partial root cause for the "Update iTunes Library" freeze / blue screen issue.
    Details:
    - I've been running Windows Vista since its release.
    - iTunes worked fine under Vista since my XP->Vista clean install.
    - I updated to iTunes version 7.1.1.5 a month ago and the problem started.
    - After installation, iTunes tried to update the Library and after a minute or two, it hung and then went to a blue screen. I restarted iTunes MANY times over the month and tried to re-install it - nothing worked.
    Solution? (for me anyway)
Recall that when you log into Vista, even if you're the only user, you DO NOT have administrator privilages. You are only granted those AFTER a request and authorization (I think this is where iTunes hangs). Now, this solution might be a stretch, but iTunes worked after I stumbled across this. I took two steps and am not sure which or if the combination worked...
    - I was working with system commands that required administrator authorization. So the system prompted me, as it does everything, and I was granted them. Was this key? I don't know.
    - I also copied the iTunes Library to my Desktop, started iTunes and let it create a new, blank, iTunes Library. I closed iTunes and copied my old iTunes Library file back from the Dekstop.
When I restarted iTunes, it started to update the iTunes Library and this time it completed successfully.
Not taking anything for granted, I did a shutdown/restart to make sure it was clean.
    - I did run into a blue screen AGAIN at shutdown. But this time it rebooted clean and iTunes has been running perfectly for 3 days.
    I hope this helps someone!

what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

if you're just seeing a flash of a blue screen, we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • ITunes Library Error - what am I doing wrong??

I just bought a new 80 GB video iPod and wanted to import my existing library (I was previously using a nano). When I uploaded the info for my new iPod I got errors from Windows opening iTunes and it kept shutting down my internet connection saying that Windows was experiencing errors - would I like to report.
I completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. The install was sucessful, however when I try to open iTunes for the first time to access my library, I get the following message:
The file "i Tunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
The only option it gives me is to hit the "OK" button and exit out of the program. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted and read the FAQ's on iTunes, scanned my PC for viruses and uninstalled everything that might be conflicting - nothing has allowed me to get past this error.
    What are my next steps?

Are you importing the "iTUnes Library/xml" file from one PC to another, or do you mean your trying to import your library/songs from a nano?

  • ITunes Library Error / Sync with iPod

A few days ago, I opened a new library with iTunes in order to create a smaller library/playlist collection on a jump drive. Upon switching back to my most recent library (or what I thought was most recent), I discovered that a few of my playlists were missing. Upon closer inspection, though, I noticed that this version of the library must be a months-old version. I'm missing several albums and a great deal of my library management (i.e. re-naming albums, organizing collections, etc) has gone undone. This is problematic, because I don't even know what I've added to my library since then. My iPod is updated, and has all of the content and proper organization. However, iTunes does not seem to like me using my iPod as the "base" and syncing my iTunes computer library to match. Is there a way to do this? Since my iPod is far more up-to-date than my iTunes library, I want to use it to sync with. Hopefully this is possible. Help is appreciated.

Addition: All of the music I have added since the version of the library I'm currently using is still in my iTunes music folder. For some reason, the library file itself isn't synced with the contents of my iTunes music folder.

  • ITunes Library Error - Help Please

    Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and have only had my iPhone 4 for a handful of weeks now.
I'm running the latest iTunes software on Windows XP and all has been fine till this morning....I went to open up iTunes and got a message to say that the iTunes Library had an error...of which it saved the damaged file and reloaded the library....however I am missing all my Podcasts/Apps etc.....
I can see the file iTunes has tried to load which is now listed as iTunes Library (Damaged) and the file type is still an iTunes Database File.
I can still find all the Podcasts/Apps/iTunes purchases within the iTunes folders but can anyone assist me with getting my iTunes Library back to where it was?
    Many Thanks
    Jason

    Hi Katrina S.
Many thanks for replying. I have been messing around with it and I found the following solution:
I deleted the new iTunes Library that was created today and renamed the damaged file back to the original name. Once this was done I relaunched iTunes and my library was back to normal.
    Cheers - Jason

  • ITunes Library errors

I have two macs. My iTunes library is on an external hard drive so I can move it between macs. I hooked it up to my second mac and imported my songs to the iTunes on that computer. Then when I went back toi the first some of my compilation songs had moved out pf compilations into the Artist>>Album>>>Song folder classification. Why would these move? How do I fix it so I can move my library on the external HD and have each iTunes see the changes and not mess up like I just described?

I have changed the preferences and pointed the library to the Server
Typically, properly moving a library does NOT involve doing anything to preferences.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the whole iTunes folder and all its subfolders and files intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
