New to iTunes and iPhone (3g 8gig black)...
Apple store was unable to activate the phone in the store...
I installed iTunes today 7.7.0.43 and plugged in phone and got the message:
itunes could not connect to the iPhone "" because of an unknown error occurred (0xE8000035).
Vista thinks I have a "Digital Still Camera" when i plug it in but the driver for the "Digital Still Camera" fails to install...
    I rebooted the computer.
I restarted the iphone (Pushed top button then slide to power off and then pushed again to power on)
I reset the iphone (top and home button for 10-15 seconds till i saw apple logo)
    any ideas?
ps - i tried calling 1-800-my-iphone but i was unable to get to a person - is their tech support always that crappy or just today since its launch day?

This may not make you feel any better, but it's not you, it's not your new phone, and it's not the way Apple normally works. It is extreme overload for today. I have one of the original iPhones, and today I tried to simply get the new software, and after all the download and firmware updating, I got the same message you did. It had persisted all day, and, I'm sorry to say, is likely to for the rest of the day. I'm on a Mac, so it's not a Vista thing, either. Other people I know who bought the new phone are also experiencing the same thing. Spread the word! Discourage anyone from upgrading today! Or they, too, will be WITHOUT A PHONE!!
    Good luck to us all,
    Shelley

Hi davwatto thanks for taking the time to reply.
ok, so tried to open my safari which was version 5.1.7 and i received the error message:
safari can't connect to the server
safari can't open the page http://www.apple.com/startpage/ because safari can't connect to the server www.apple.com
The same error occurred with whatever site I tried to access, so I uninstalled Safari, then reinstalled version 3.2.3 and this time I got the error message:

    Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.apple.com/startpage/”. The error was: “unknown error” (kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10013) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Help menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
Not sure how to check the logs for itunes though
If you have any idea how to fix this issue that would be great as im at a total loss.
    Thanks

Try opening an elevated command prompt by going to the start screen, then typing "CMD" without quotes and pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER.  It will ask you if you want to allow it to make changes, click yes.
Then, while in the command prompt, you need to type "netsh winsock reset".  You type this without the quotes.  Make SURE you are in an elevated command prompt window before trying this. If you don't know what that means, search google for "elevated command prompt".

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone because of an unknown error occurred (0xE800007F)

iTunes to iPhone 4 wireless sync fails.  iTunes gives me this message:
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because of anunknown error occurred (0xE800007F)
    Windows 7 Pro - (Lastest & Greatest)
    iPhone 4 - ios 5.0.1 (Lastest & Greatest)
    iTunes 10.5.1.42 (Lastest & Greatest)
A Google search has found a number of other iPhone owners having the same problem, but no resolution.  Anyone have a fix for this issue?

Hi Annette, i think itunes keeps booting itself because either your ipad or iphone or ipod touch has 'Open iTunes when this ##### is connected' selected in its properties.
to fix, connect whichever device you have to itunes using a cable, select the device in the left colmn and under the 'Summary' tab, deselect 'Open iTunes when this #### is connected'
This was doing the same thing to me. drove me mad.
I too am also having the same issue as the original poster with the cant connect message.
    regards
    Louis

  • I Tunes Store is giving me a message stating that: "i Tunes could not connect to the I Tunes Store.  The network connection timed out..."   I have internet but iTunes

I have contacted Express Lane support but they couldn't help per se.  The info provided didn't resolve the problem
I have internet but iTunes Store and Safari will not connect.  Apparently the last contact I had with the store via my PC was on December 6th. Around that time I did install AVG Anti-virus 2012 and I have been reading threads over at AVG and it looks like AVG and Apple may be pointing at each other as the problem.
I need to upgrade to OS5 in order for my Apogee Jam to work properly - or so I've been told (no sound coming from my iPad2 or headphones).
    I updated i Tunes Stores to 10.5.2.11.

same prob here.something is wrong. cannot connect whatsoeve.
re-installed.checked firewall. all is fine.net working fine.but app store continuosly shows above err.

  • Error message -3221 - Could not connect to the I-Tunes Store

I last accessed the I-Tunes store on November 3, 2007 with no problems. The last week of November I received the following error message. "I-Tunes could not connect to the I-Tunes store. An unknown error has occurred (-3221)." I have the latest version of I-Tunes (7.4.3.1). I cleared my DNS server and am sure I-Tunes isn't blocked in my firewall. In fact, I followed all the suggestions given on the I-Tunes diagnostic website. I cannot find any mention of anyone else that has received this particular message. Can anyone help me????

Macafee security center is the culprit.
    Open Macafee then: select;
    Internet & Network > configure
    Firewall > Advanced
Programm Permissions > scroll down to Itunes
    Highlight (click on)
Then Grant full access to Itunes.
    APPLY then OK
When you select store from Itunes you will need to register with Itunes
