Your library is preserved with the following repair process, but you ought to be routinely backing up anyway.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • TS5376 will uninstalling itunes and reinstalling cause me to loose any of my data?

the latest Itunes upgrade for windows has an issue that means I need to uninstall it and reinstall with greter permissions.
Firstly, will I loose any data, music etc, that may only be on the PC (not on the cloud or my MacBook Pro)?
Secondly what exactly does giving itunes these permissions mean? will it be able to make changes to my PC without my authorisation from now on? will it invade my privacy, or rather, is there any guarantee it won't?

Firstly, will I loose any data, music etc, that may only be on the PC (not on the cloud or my MacBook Pro)?
Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
will it be able to make changes to my PC without my authorisation from now on?
No. We're not setting it to permanently run as an administrator or disabling your UAC or so forth.
will it invade my privacy, or rather, is there any guarantee it won't?
I don't think so, but I can't offer any guarantee about that. (If there's security updates associated with the new iTunes version, in theory you ought to be better off than you currently are with the earlier version. In practise all the usual worries about security with anything apply.)

  • I keep getting the error message "apple application support is required to run itunes. Please uninstall itunes and then install it again." I've done this twice and still keep getting the same message...I'm at wits end Please HELP!!!

I keep getting the error message "apple application support is required to run itunes. Please uninstall itunes and then install it again." I've done this twice and still keep getting the same message...I'm at wits end Please HELP!!!

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • If I uninstall iTunes and reinstall it, will I lose my music files?

    Hi
My Ipod touch (2nd Gen) is not being recognised in itunes. I have gone through the ipod touch assistant, and this has made no difference.
Next try is to uninstall itunes and re-install it. However...will I lose my music library when I do this?
I am also having problems with my external back-up drive which has now stopped me opening it up (I have had it for a year), as it says "I don't have permission to see it's contents" and "files can't be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be "read-only" - so I am loathe to uninstall itunes if I lose all my music etc....
    Thanks for your help
    Simon

You will not lose any music..
However, you do have a current backup of the iTunes folder and all other important info on your hard drive, correct?

  • I too need to re install Bonjour, If I uninstall iTunes and re install i tunes, will I lose all my music?

I accidently uninstalled Bonjour and need to re install it.
If I do what is suggested and uninstall i tunes and reinstall it, will I lose all my songs etc that I already have on i tunes?

No. They will be right where you left them after re-installing iTunes.
Either way, you should be backing this content up anyways.

  • Uninstalling itunes and re-installing

Hello, is there anyone out there that can help me please???
When trying to install a new version of itunes I'm getting,
    Invalid Drive: F:\
and when i try to uninstall itunes I'm getting,
    Fatal error during installation
I really dont know where to start!!??

At some point you had a digital camera card or memory card in drive F: and for whatever reason, itunes thinks it needs to be there again.
So plug things into your USB ports until you see a drive F: in windows explorer.
    Then try the install again.

So when I plugged in my iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.4), iTunes told me it needed to update to the newest version... so I did. After installing it it gave me an error (-45019) that said that a required component wasn't installed.
