TS1368 Verizon iPhone 4 won't update apps

For about two weeks now, my Verizon iPhone 4 (ios 5.1.1)  won't update apps from the update feature.  I can make purchases and otherwise access my account, but although the red icon appears to tell me that there are updates available, I receive the message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" when I open the apps app.  I have no trouble updating the apps manually (by searching for the app and choosing "install" I am prompted to update.)  But I can't update automatically by using the updates icon on the App Store menu.
I have a 4th gen iPod and iPad 3 as well, and they have no trouble updating normally on the same network; nor does my computer.  I can't find any reference to anyone else having this problem; can anyone help?
FYI, I have already tried every solution I've seen posted on this site to no avail.  They only seem to address the issue of not being able to access the iTunes store at all; I ONLY have this issue with the update function -- purchases and manual updates work fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately, the app that is problematic is the App Store app, which is undeletable. Nothing else is giving me a problem.
I did eventually find a thread discussing this problem, and all the solutions are work-arounds, such as update from iTunes on my computer and then sync to my phone.  This does work, but it's a bit of a pain to have to do that in order to update.  I'd really like to just do it automatically from the device, the way it was intended to work.

  • IPhone 4 Won't Update Apps After Email Change

I changed my Apple ID email online.  Then I went into the store settings and signed in with the new one.  Worked.  Then I went to the app store and it still shows my old Email address when I try to update things.  Can't change it there.  If I go to the app store>catergories>scroll the bottom, I can see my NEW email address there, but not in the update area.  I've synced it in iTunes, I've turned the iPhone off and on a number of times now.  I can't update any apps or buy things from the app store because my old email address shows up in ONE PLACE and ONE PLACE ONLY...  the update apps area.  How can I fix this so I can use the app store once again?
    Thanks!!!

I have the same annoying problem.. When my old id-adress came up, i tried to write in the password.. And im positive that i wrote in the correct one, but i won't go through.. So I try to reset that password by getting it on my email.. But I never get a emal.. And now, after trying for a million times, the apps that i tryed to update, no longer shows ???
    This is so annoying!!
    Please someone help us!
I did try to reset my primary apple-id adress, but it won't change. It says that the adress is already in use..
    I fon't grt this?
When you change your apple-id all of your stuff, apps and everything should come along, so that you can update them or whatever as normal even if the apple-id is changed..
This is ********. It shouldn't be this hard !!

  • Verizon iPhone 4 Won't Update to 4.3 from 4.2.6?

Apparently Apple now has a version 4.3 firmware update for the iPhone 4 available. My new Verizon iPhone has version 4.2.6, but when I tell iTunes to check for an update for it it says that it already has the latest firmware? ***?

You are way too nice.  I feel like I am riding in the back of the bus as a Verizon user.
    My comment to Apple was:
"Did I buy a crippled version of the iPhone when I went with Verizon? AT&T's coverage at my home is nonexistent so I was thrilled to finally be able to get an iPhone. I paid the same price etc., so why am I unable to update to the same features?  If the verizon iphone is indeed a second tier version, then I have been ripped off big time.  Don't gt me wrong. I have been an apple fan since my ][+ but this is really low grade.  Maybe I should have saved a bundle and gone with android."
I love my macbook pro, but this ***** big time.  I know a number of people with droid phones and quite frankly, I feel like Apple and Verizon scammed me with a second rate versiion.  Unfortunately I am locked in for two years.  If I knew then what I know now...
Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!

  • Iphone 5 won't update apps after iOS 6.1

I recently downloaded the new ios 6.1 software and now I can't update any apps. The screen is blank but the app still tells me I need to update my apps. I tried turning the phone off and back on and that didn't work. Resetting it also didn't work. I plugged it into the computer hoping I could fix it that way but no luck. Any suggestions?

I have the very same issue. There are updates but it's not showing them. If you go to appstore and search for the installed apps it will then show which one to update. For ex I just had the badge indicating that I had three updates but the screen was blank. Searched for Facebook, as I had updated for an iPad earlier, and it indicated that it should be updated. Same thing with Tweetbot. I'm still trying to figure out what is the third one.

  • My iPhone 5 won't update Apps

Ever since I updated to the iOS 8, my phone just refuses to update my apps. I have restarted my phone, signed in and out of Apple ID, turned my wifi on and off, and nothing is working. Is there another way to fix this? Or is this going on in Apple's side?
    Thanks!

Did you ever resolve the issue?  I have the same problem.

  • My iPhone 5 won't update/install apps !! Any idea why ?

I own an iPhone 5, an iPhone 4s and an iPad 2.
They are all not jailbroken and are all running on ios 6.0.1
While my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 have no problem updating existing apps or installing new apps, my iPhone 5 won't update/install apps all !!
To be fair, about 2 week ago, all my iPhone 5 update/install won't work but after a day or two, they started downloading.
But now, my iPhone 5 updates and installations have been stalled for a week.
What is happening ? Can anybody please help ? Thanks.

    Okay fixed it:
First of all make a backup and sync your iPhone in iTunes.
Next reinstall your iPhone using DFU mode:
(FIND HOW 2 GET IN DFU MODE ON GOOGLE, APPLE DO NOT ALLOW TO PUT IN LINKS HERE :-( )
Then choose to put your latest backup back on your iPhone.
And voila you should see you now can recieve updates from App Store.
    (It worked for me)

  • Apps on iPhone 5 won't update with ios8

My apps on iPhone 5 won't update after installation of ios8.

    Hi davieg502,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know that it can be frustrating when your iTunes or App Stores do not function the way you would expect, especially with application updates. In this situation I would recommend the steps located in the attached article to start the troubleshooting process.
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • My iPhone won't update apps or let me purchase apps

My iPhone 4 will not update apps or let me purchase apps. It is version 6.1.3

A number of people seem to be having this problem right now.  Try purchasing it using iTunes on your computer, accept the terms and conditions there, then either sync it to your phone or download it on your phone as a past purchase (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

  • IPhone 5s won't update to iOS 8.0.2

My iPhone 5s won't update to iOS 8.0.2. I had been using beta versions of iOS 8 but even though there is a '1' in the Software Update box, it tells me my software is up to date (iOS 8).
However, I also get messages telling me my current iOS will expire in x days. I now have dozens of apps waiting to update, telling me I have to upgrade to iOS 8.0.1 or later.
I've tried to manually install iOS 8.0.2 but I get a message saying the firmware isn't compatible.
    Any ideas?

Ask in the developer forum; someone there should be able to help you.

  • My iphone 4s won't update to ios 6! please help!

My iphone 4s won't update to ios 6! I tried by my iphone it takes so long updating then it ends saying error!! I tried by using iTunes too, when it's done and installing it says error too!! this got me crazy!! any solution ? please help!

I got instructions to connect my iPhone4 to iTunes. Each time I was prompted to restore the phone, I ended up getting an error message that the iPhone could not be restored. I checked that I had the latest version of iTunes-I did. I tried two more times and got the same error message. I disconnected the usb/phone, closed iTunes, and restarted the computer. This time the restore worked and iOS6 loaded. Unfortunately, the last backup to iCloud that I was told I had was in June. Don't know why this happened as it should have backed up every day. Now I am working through restoring my settings and apps from the last three months. Thankfully, I didn't 'upgrade' my iPad, so I have a template off of which to work. I hope this helps.

  • IPhone 4 won't update email or send texts

My iPhone 4 won't update my email, send texts or show my call log.  Restarting hasn't helped

Update (for anyone else who has had this problem):
A few days ago, my iPhone decided to get its act together and fixed itself.
I had seen some indications out there in researching this that if you just give it time, it will correct itself.
Low and behold, after checking in on it every couple days, it finally started downloading and updating correctly.
I don't know that I can really offer anything to do or not do.
All I did was just not worry about downloading new apps, or updating the current ones.
Didn't sync with iTunes/Outlook, and just used the phone in the condition it was in.
After several days, it went back to normal.
I have several educated guesses on what may have caused it, but nothing at all definitive.
Anyhow, there you are: apparently the solution is to do nothing, and let the iPhone sort out its own problems.

  • My iTunes Won't update apps

My iTunes Won't update apps when i click check update it say"your iTunes library is up-to date"
awhen i check update From iPhone the it update all apps which are out dated

It sounds like you've already done the things that would fix most  iPhones.
You can try restoring your iPhone.
If that doesn't do it, try contacting Apple through Express Lane. They may be able to gather some aditional logs and pinpoint the exact problem.

  • After updating to iOS 6.1.2, neither my iPhone or iPad will update apps thru App Store. Any suggestions?

After updating to iOS 6.1.2, neither my iPhone or iPad will update apps thru App Store. Any suggestions?

    What happens when you try?
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • TS3274 iPad won't update apps...

I'm having trouble with my iPad - Won't update Apps...

Many people are having this problem for the last couple of days. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this is a workaround - for the time being.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store.
