TS1369 ipod appears in iTunes, but not in windows explorer?

So my iPod appears in iTunes just fine, i can sync it and everything, but when i want to move my photos over, my iPod never shows up in windows explorer anymore. All the support tutorials are for if your iPod shows up in windows explorer and not itunes (or not both) but none are vise versa. What can i do?

Try:
iOS: Unable to import photos to computer
Next:

  • Ipod appearing in Itunes but not synching

I've had several problems with my Ipod where I couldn't get it to appear in Itunes or in Windows but after nearly a week I have managed to sort that out by plugging it into my boyfriends laptop and restoring it.
Today when I finally plugged it back into my laptop it was recognised and it showed up in Itunes and started to synch. It went throught the motions of synching up but non of my music appeared on my Ipod. I performed a diagnostic and got the results below.
I have removed and re installed Itunes and all my software is up to date. Does anyone have any ideas

  • IPod appears in iTunes 7 but not in Windows Explorer

my iPod appears in iTunes 7 but not in Windows Explorer
also i can't put any photo on iPod

my iPod appears in iTunes 7 but not in Windows Explorer
if you don't have "enable disk use" or "manually manage music" selected in your summary tab, that's normal.
do you have either "enable disk use" or "manually manage music" selected in your summary tab?

  • Ipod appears in itunes but without ipod menu items (eg. Music, Movies, Podc

When I connect my 5th generation ipod (2006) to my pc (windows xp), my ipod appears in itunes (v.7.6) in the left pane in itunes, but there are no ipod menu items listed under the ipod icon (eg. Music, Playlists, Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.). When I left-click on the ipod icon, the "Set Up Your iPod" screen appears WITHOUT any of the check-box options. There ARE playlists on the ipod .. when disconnected from the pc, the ipod functions perfectly .. including listing all my Songs, Compilations, Podcasts, Playlists, etc. I have RESET my ipod successfully (starting from scratch - wiped out all data), but that did not eliminated the missing ipod menu items in itunes. Does anyone know how to fix this ??!!!

Hi, back to the original thread !
... i checked out http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499 but it does not seem to resolve my problem ...
SOMETHING NEW i just noticed is that under Disk Manager for my "working ipod" (ie. all the menu items show up under the chevron in itunes) there is NO UNALLOCATED SPACE .. HOWEVER, with the "problem ipod", there is 78MB of unallocated space ... so i guess my next question is how do i reclaim the unallocated space without bricking my ipod ? Anyone ???

  • Music appears in iTunes, but not on ipod touch itself

Hi. My son got a new ipod touch about 2 weeks ago. We've set it up to automatically sync a particular folder (so he doesn't have to get ALL the music on our iTunes).
Tonight we added a few songs to his folder in iTunes and synced the ipod. In iTunes, when we click on the ipod icon and check, the songs appear in his folder, so they appear to have been transferred. However, when we eject and look in the ipod itself, the songs do not appear to be there. What makes the weirder is that when we reconnect the ipod to the computer and click on its icon in iTunes, the songs appear to be there after all.
Any thoughts as to what's going on and how to fix it? I have done a hard reset and full restore on the ipod touch; no change. I have not yet atempted to simply manually add each song (that just occurred to me).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks, Paul

Okay, figured out how to get around this. I have restrictions set to "Clean" on the ipod touch. The songs in question are "Clean" versions of, I assume, otherwise explicit songs. However, the restrictions don't seem to recognize that and are blocking them. When I change the restrictions setting on the ipod touch to "Explicit", the songs are accessible on the device.
On the computer itself, I have parental restrictions in place to prevent "explicit" songs from being downloaded, and these "clean" versions passed that bar, but apparently not for the ipod software. What's with this inconsistency? Is this a glitch? To whom should I report it? Isn't part of the point of those sanitized versions that they should be playable on devices with parental restrictions set?

  • Apple update ruined my playlists, they are no longer on my ipod and playlist i didnt have are. how can I get mine back. And i am missing songs that appear in itunes but not on the ipod?

apple update erased my playlists, they are no longer showing on my iTunes. I am missing songs that do appear in iTunes and should be on the ipod but are not, and new playlists that I didn't have are now where mine should be. Any suggestions as to getting "MY" ipod back?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPod appears on desktop but not in iTunes

When I connect my iPod clickwheel (via Firewire or USB) to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.7) it mounts on the desktop and I can open it as a disk volume; but iTunes (8.2) doesn't see it at all. iTunes does see my iPhone. Restarting makes no difference. Disconnecting and reconnecting also makes no difference.
    Any ideas?

    Hey there,
Have you had a chance to look at this Apple support document relating to this issue? If not, check it out. Hope it helps.

  • My songs appear in itunes but not on my ipod

About 10 of my songs that have been on my ipod for quite sometime stopped showing up on my ipod. the songs are on itunes and play through itunes but no matter how many times I update my ipod the songs won't show up on my ipod. But if i put the songs in a playlist they then appear on my ipod only in the playlist not in the regular music/artist files. I have even tried to delete the songs and put them back n and it still doesn't work. If someone could help that would be great I am getting very frustrated!

Perhaps it is time to try performing a RESTORE on your iPod and see if that clears it up.

  • Ipod appears in finder but not itunes

    Hi,
ipod nano 3rd gen: see it in finder as a volume, it opens itunes BUT does not appear in list of devices!!
tried hard reset, restart, etc. Have the latest itunes and have tried to "see" the ipod on different macs, running different OS's
Of note: the ipod was possibly tangled with : my daughter tried to have some music transferred on her mom's PC, believe it or not. In so doing, they drag/dropped the files on the disk image (I guess). I have since deleted the folders and transferred contents into itunes.
The ipod starts up fine except it starts up as a "new ipod " each time, requesting language before being used.
Can't sync it since it doesn't appear in itunes...
Any ideas. I've looked into the forums but no success so far
Thanks for your numerous hepfull replies

EXACTLY SAME PROBLEM. I FOLLOWED THIS POST ON ANOTHER FORUM AND IT REALLY WORKED!!
    GOOD LUCK

Re: I have a ipod nano 5th generation that can not be found on itunes on Mac
It sounds like the iPod needs a Restore using iTunes.  But you're saying iTunes does not see the iPod, even though Finder sees it, so if iTunes does not see it, you can't do aRestore.  It definitely does not appear in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES, correct?
I just did the following with my 5th gen iPod nano and Mac (just to confirm it does no harm), so you can try it, if you want.  This procedure will erase the nano, so I hope all the songs (and other content) on it now are all synced from your Mac's iTunes library.  I have previously done this with older "hard drive" iPods before, but not a nano.
Put the nano into Disk Mode, as before (link in previous post).
With iTunes NOT running, run Disk Utility and connect the nano.  The nano should appear in the Disk Utility sidebar.  Select "Apple iPod Media" in the sidebar, NOT the iPod's "volume" that is indented under it (so the DEVICE should be selected, not the device's volume).  Over to the right, go to the Erase tab.
Set Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  You can Name it whatever you want, or leave it "Untitled."  Click Erase.  This will erase (reformat) the iPod's flash storage.  Because the DEVICE was selected in the sidebar, it will also re-partition it (to one partition).  It should take less than one minute to complete, then Eject the iPod.  It should say OK to Disconnect on nano's screen.  But you don't need to disconnect it.
Use the Reset procedure (link in previous post) to take the nano out of Disk Mode.  Run iTunes.  Hopefully, iTunes will see the iPod (in "recovery mode"), and offer to Restore it.  If you can then Restore it successfully, your nano should be working properly again.
NOTE:  If there is a hardware problem with your nano, erasing it with Disk Utility may not work.  And that will leave your nano non-functional.

  • IPod appears in Finder,  but not in iTunes.  iPod in Disk Mode

I have a 5th Gen, 30G iPod that cut out in mid-song this morning. The hard drive starting making the "tick, tick, tick...pause...tick, tick, tick" sound. I reset it and it does not show any of the music on it (only pictures). When I plugged it into the computer, it appears on the desktop (eventually) and in Finder, but not in the iTunes Source List.
After working my way through the first 4 of the 5 R's, I have come to Restore. Since I couldn't get the iPod to appear in the Source Menu, I haven't been able to hit the Restore button in iTunes. So I have placed the iPod into Disk Mode, and reattached it to the computer. Still nothing, just it icon on the destop, but nothing in iTunes.
I assume that the Data is Corrupt on the Hard Drive of the iPod, but how can you restore an iPod if you can't get iTunes to recognize it?!
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

  • My ipod is appearing in itunes but not finder

I took some photos on my new ipod touch 4th gen black and can't figure out how to get them off! I don't have a connection to wi-fi at the moment so am using the usb cable. I've tried both ports, turning off and on again itunes, turning on and off again the ipod. It appears in itunes so it's connected and recognisable in there but it doesn't appear on my mac desktop or under devises in the finder window.
    Any ideas?

It does not appear in Finder unless you are using a third-party program. Try:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
iOS: Unable to import photos or device not recognized as a camera

  • TV shows appear in iTunes but not in iPod

I have a 5G iPod video running on a HP with Windows XP. I have purchased several TV shows form iTunes and they show up in my iTunes library but not all of the episodes transfer to my iPod. My iPod is set to automatically sync with my library, but some of the the TV episodes still do not transfer. They are all checked and should transfer automatically. Also, if I select the missing shows and drag and drop them from the library into my iPod, they transfer. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for any help you can give me!
    Chris

You may have set your iPod to sync only unwatched episodes.
Connect your iPod, then when the summary screen appears click on the TV shows tab.
Change the preference to what suits you best.

  • Song appear in iTunes, BUT not on my ipod Touch. Why does this keep happening?

This is about the 4th time that i've had this issue. My songs/playlists appear in iTunes when I connect my iPod Touch, BUT the songs don't show on my iPod.
Any suggestion on how to fix this or why it keeps happening?

There's a special iTunes forum where you'd get a lot of readers who specialize in iTunes issues.

  • IPod appears in iTunes, but disappears from Desktop

Just recently, whenever I plug my 3G 20GB iPod into my dock connect via Firewire to my iMac, it launches iTunes as normal, appears on the Deskop, syncs with iTunes and then disappears from the Desktop.
Then if I eject my iPod from iTunes and leave it connected to my dock to charge, and later relaunch iTunes it freezes and takes a force quit and a log out to get things working again.
I tried resetting and resyncing the iPod last week and have also trashed the iTunes prefs, but nothing seems to have worked as yet.
    Any ideas?
    iMac G5 20" 2.1GHz iSight, 1.5GB RAM, 250GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3GHz, 2.5GB RAM, 160GB HD

The first part of your description sounds normal when using Auto updating and having disk mode DIS-abled. Mine shows up in iTunes when connected, then I eject it from iTunes and it does not appear on my desk top.
Try going into the iPod setting in iTunes and enabling disk mode and see if that works any better. You will have to manually eject the iPod from the desk top though, before unplugging it.
