I have an iPod classic it was recently restored in apple in Reading on a Macintosh computer. When we got home i tried connecting  it to my Microsoft laptop and it came up with error code 1413 and still wont restore what should I do?

Try removing and Plug-ins you have installed with iTunes.  See here for more information.

Otherwise, try to reformat the iPod's Hard Disk using the instructions in this article.

More often that not, this particular error message can be a good indication that your iPod's HD is going bad or faulty.
If possible, try another USB cable and port as well as restoring it again on another PC.

  • HT201210 cannot restore iPhone 5s.  error code 40

I cannot restore my iphone 5s after multiple blue screens and I cannot reset with the home-on buttons together.  I updated all software on my mac as suggested and I still get error code (40).  Any help out there?

Here's what error 40 can be about:
    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

Hi i'm trying to restore my iPod classic and it says that the iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1434) what can i do to fix this? Thanks

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.

  • TS1372 i cant restore an ipod classic it shows error 1436

i cant restore an ipod classic it shows error 1436

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He always covers what the resulting numbers indicate, which may be slightly different since your model is a bit older.

  • Has anyone else received error 1434 when restoring their iPod classic.

I can't seem to restore my iPod classic. I get the above error message...a little help?

It doesn't contain your exact erorr number, but perhaps something here will help.
    iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439
Be sure to carefully work through each every suggestion.  Also, make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB port on the Mac itself and not through a USB hub.

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips online but my Classic ipod doesnt work. My Itunes keeps telling me that it cannot restore the ipod because the ipod is busy. What can I do?

Have you tried rebooting for the Mac and iPod to see if that helps? To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also try plugging the iPod into another USB port and use a different USB sync cable.

  • HT1339 how to restore an ipod classic with error 1415

how to restore an ipod classic with error 1415 latest operating system

    Hey there beaver17
    How are you?
Well, I have an iPod Classic, it gave me the error -1436 error and would not restore on iTunes.
    I did the following:
My Boss (@work) has a fairly old iBook but it has OS-X, so I decided to give it a try and connected my iPod to it.
The system showed a window telling me that the disk is not MAC formated and needs to be validated prior further action. Snce it is a Mac product, I thought "yeah, go ahead".
It then opens the disk manager utility for the Mac and showed the disk. It's window has some tabs, one is to verify the disk, so I verified it. Guess what, it had some invalid clusters.
Then I formatted the iPod to OS-X Plus file system (next tab to the right). After formating the iPod, I "ejected" the iPod and reconnected to my PC. The Windows iTunes found an iPod with Mac file system and asked me to restore it. As I clicked on the "restore" button, I crossed my fingers as this was the last resource I have.
Finally, after the file extraction was done, it began to restore the iPod!!
I'm so happy about being able to restore the iPod that I decided to share with all you guys this solution as it is the most usefull, in my opinion.
Hope you can find someone with an iBook or a desktop Mac, so you can fix yours.
If it works for you, make sure to share the tip!!
    Kind regards

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • Trouble restoring my iPod Shuffle (error 1418)

So this is my specification of my iPod:
    http://support.apple.com/specs/ipod/iPod_shuffle.html
I have a machine of Windows Vista and it is a notebook.
My iPod worked absolutely well with my machine and my iTunes for some days.
About a month ago, there was a prompt talking about I need a Windows Update patch installed as removing iPod from a Vista machine eventually hurts the iPod.
I checked every detail with Microsoft.com, Apple.com as well as Google.com and decided to patch my OS with the given link.
However the installer said the update did not apply to my system.
"Ok, then, let's forget it", I thought and just forget about it.
Just for a few song syncs, I found that there is always some error for the iPod and I have to restore it to get it sync.
As well as there is some way to update my songs, I don't mind to do extra steps.
Then, yesterday, I tried the same thing.
Sync it, ok, can't, then, restore.
However, it comes out an error 1418.
    Retry, the same.
Retry again and again, the same again and again.
Then, I started with Googling. And eventually tried to disconnect it and reconnect it when restoring, which is suggested by this site:
    http://www.javatyger.com/2007/02/solution-to-ipods-evil-1418-error.html
    Then, to Apple support.......
I tried the iPod Shuffle Restore Tool, sorry, not for Vista.
Then, I tried to use an old version of iPod updater to restore it, can't.
Now, I have the following symptoms:
    1. iTunes, Windows explorer, actually everything in my machines can recognize the iPod.
    2. iTunes cannot sync. the content.
    3. iTunes cannot restore the iPod and gives error 1418 when trying to do so.
    4. Windows explorer shows iPod in My Computer, clicking its property, it shows no memory space used nor free.
    5. Cannot format the iPod as treating it like an external storage device. Using right-click->format gives no response while using "format I:" in cmd.exe gives "Error in IOCTL Call".
    6. No trace of the iPod having any memory judging from its property and Disk Management.
I hope these information could help figuring out the solution and I will be very thankful with anyone's help.

I have had the same problem with 2 different ipods. I eventually was able to reset one (using the restore utility and Windows XP. When I got back to the main setup screen asking me to name my ipod, i left the autofill box checked. Then when itunes loaded i clicked autofill. Now I have ALL my songs on one ipod but cannot take any songs off it or change playlists.
If you haven't already, try this link http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304508 and go thru all the instructions on your XP machine, and see if you get to the same point I am at now. If you do, welcome to a whole new world of frustration!!! then maybe we can figure out what to do from there.
    GOOD LUCK!!!

  • "The ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1429)"

Hi there. I got an 80G ipod almost 3 months ago and it's been great, until now. I hadn't opened it in itunes for about a month. When I did, iTunes told me the iPod appeared to be corrupted. When I tried to restore the iPod, I got the warning in the title to this post. I've tried the 5 R's but obviously can't do the 5th because of the warning. Once I hit restore and get this error, the iPod disappears from iTunes, but the iPod still says "Connected, Eject before disconnecting."
Should i just give up and go to the genius bar? The iPod still plays, but I need to be able to manage the music through iTunes. I've looked around but can't find any discussions about this particular error. Has anyone experienced and solved this problem?

yup.....FINALLY was able to get a good connection to update to 10.5.2, and get around to restoring the iPod Classic 80GB. Now I have the 1429 error....
I have another classic at home that was a new one from apple after the "x" screen appeared on the first classic 80GB.
I am trying to restore this classic, but doesn't seem to be working...
I swear, you need 3 ipods....
    1-getting sent back to apple
    1-that plays
1 that is broken and trying to get fixed
that way you always have a working iPod....[hehe]
my BEST iPod was the 5G 30GB......but I ran out of room........

  • Windows 7 Backup "The System cannot find the path specified" - Error Code 0x80070003

I'm having severe problems backing up my own machine to a share on our
    FILE-SERVER as \\FILE-SERVER\Backup\
I have already backed up another PC successfully using exactly the same settings I have used on my own PC. So I presume it is nothing to do with the
FILE-SERVER or the Backup settings.  It has to be something to do with what I'm trying to backup from my machine.
    First some background.
This exercise all began when the Windows Server 2008 r2
O/S fell over on one of our Servers. I tried reinstalling the O/S several times, without success. In the end I grabbed another drive and re-built the O/S. I then had problems promoting it to a Domain Controller on the network.
In the end I renamed the Server from FILESERVER
    to FILE-SERVER.
We routinely share four folders on what is now
    FILE-SERVER:
    \\FILE-SERVER\Backup
    - a Folder where backups from all other machines are written, so that they will be backed up with the Server
    \\FILE-SERVER\Company
    - holds all our Company data
    \\FILE-SERVER\GEM
    - this is the application folder for our own database
    \\FILE-SERVER\Install
    - holds all Install files for the software we use
These are all held on a RAID 1 Array that is separate from the System Disk that fell over.
Prior to the Server falling over, I had Backup working fine on my machine.
On my Notebook PC I had made these shared folders 'Available Offline', so that I still had everything available to me when I was out of the office. They were
of course shared as \\FILESERVER\... not \\FILE-SERVER\...
Having got the Server up and going again, I began to get the Backups from the Windows 7 Client PC's going again.
I started with a Desktop, which of course did not have any Offline Files.
     That proved relatively straight-forward.
I then started with my machine. Initially I did not make the above shared folders 'Available Offline'. I set up my Backup using exactly the same settings that
had worked OK on the desktop machine. But when I ran the backup I got:
The System cannot find the path specified, Error Code 0x80070003
I tried all sorts of things to get it to work:
I restored the system to the earliest point possible,
    I ran chkdsk,
    I defragged the drive
All to no avail, so I tried backing up:
with and without a system image,
reducing the backup to a single folder,
a single Folder with only one .txt file in it,
making the Folders 'Available Offline' again.
    Nothing made any difference.
In the end I looked in the Sync Center to look at the Offline Files Folder.
Under Mapped Network Drives I discovered I still had the Files and Folders from
\\FILESERVER.  In their Shortcut Menu 'Always Available Offline' was greyed out. So I deleted the Offline Copies. This deleted the Files in the Folders but not the Folders.
Since I could find no way of deleting the old Mapped Network Drives, I decided I'd painted myself into a corner by renaming the Server.
So I bit the bullet and re-installed my Notebook too.  This did get rid of the unwanted old Mapped Network Drives - BUT NOT THE ERROR!!
I’ve been through all the troubleshooting procedures in:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/629597bb-7be0-455c-b81e-a149472d3f9b/windows-7-backup-the-system-cannot-find-the-path-specified-error-0x80070003?forum=w7itprogeneral
    Method 1
It had none of the symptoms reported in
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455
but I scanned for ‘reparse’ points anyway.  Found several “Junction Points” but none that were “Mounted Volumes”, just ordinary ‘File Folders’.
    Method 2
    Check a drive for errors.
    Looked at:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Check-a-drive-for-errors
    Checked
both boxes.  I closed machine down, to check for errors when it re-started.
It didn’t seem to find anything.
I say seem, because I did not actually see it finishing checking the empty space, but stages 1-4 found no problems and Windows 7 restarted normally.
It did detect 66 ‘Reparse’ Points, which is more than it found when I scanned for them earlier.
    Method 3
Yes, I am an administrator or my own machine and, as such, I have ‘Full Access’.
I downloaded an ran the Process Monitor, filtering for Process Name “Wbengine.exe”, but did dot get a single event.
So I’m not sure what’s going on.
HELP - I'm out of ideas!
I have a WORD Document that documents all the Settings I've used on both the Server and the Clients, together with the reasoning behind those settings, but
I cannot find a way of uploading it.

I am having the exact same problem with Windows 7 Professional. Out of the blue, this issue just started a few months ago when running my monthly Windows Backup where I have used a USB drive for the last 3 years, and never ever had this issue before. Most
of the solutions listed on the Microsoft websites and answers deal with
    "Restore" functions, not the
"Backup" itself. I have 3 folders being skipped during the backup.
So I went and changed the Backup from "let Microsoft choose files, directories, etc" to "Let me choose". I included the files and folders that were being skipped, and ran the "Backup" again, and got the same error message,
but the files that were skipped the first time were "Backed up" finally. This issue is somehow related to my "Libraries"?
    The 3 backup problems are:
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book Recordings. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book CD Label-Cover Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book MP3 Tag Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Did a "checkdisk" - no problems. Ran a program to fix registry - no problems. All updates up to date. I guess I could eliminate these folders from the Backup folders in the
Library, and just choose them under the "Users" locations, and be done with it. But I really want to understand this, and fix it. This is within Windows 7 and may be related to Windows Media Player or
    some recent Windows update.  Thanks.
