  • IPod Nano 4th Gen - Stuck on Apple logo

After not using my iPod Nano (4th Gen. 4GB) for about 4 months, I try to turn it on to find it isn't responding. I figured it was completely dead, so I plug it into my computer to see an Apple logo appear on the screen, and I leave it to charge for about an hour. After charging, my computer still didn't register any usb device. When I disconnected it was stuck on the apple logo. After waiting for a while it was still on Apple logo.
So, I did some reading and put it into disk mode. Once in disk mode it was recognized by my computer, and I promptly restored it. After it was restored I reset the iPod. But, again it was still stuck at the Apple logo screen.
I have repeated this process three times, and each time I reset it after restoring in disk mode, the iPod is stuck at the Apple logo screen.
Any ideas as to why it is doing this?

his is not operating system-specific, but I want to get it on the record somewhere since I could not find the solution anywhere else.
Last week, my third-generation 30GB iPod refused to go beyond the Apple logo on startup. It would power up, flash as if trying to go to the menu, but instead it would just show the Apple again. I tried all the usual recovery methods: resetting (hundreds of times and a couple of different ways), disk scans from the diagnostic menu, restoring with the latest iPod software and with an older version, fsck, using Disk Utility to repair and erase, Disk Warrior, letting the battery drain, everything.
Nothing worked ... until I used Disk Utility to reformat the disk with the "Zero Out Data" option (in the Security pop-up) enabled. This, apparently, reformatted the drive in such a way as to account for bad sectors. It took about an hour.
After that, I restored it with the latest iPod software, and to my delight, it booted normally. It now works fine.
Found that on web mite help you.... but i dont have a mac

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo even after restore

okay, i have an ipod nano 4th gen. it gets stuck on the boot logo, (apple logo) every time it tries to restart. i have rebooted, gone into the diagnostics, put it into disk mode, and even restored from there. the computer doesnt recognize the ipod unless in disk mode and no matter how many times i restore or reboot, it does the same thing every time. stuck. please help

Since you have the "exact" same problem, why don't you do any of the following:
If you have AppleCare and/or still under warranty, give them a call.  If not, take your iPod to your local Apple Store or AASP.  Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.
U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)
Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo (still) after restore

HELP! I tried to turn on my ipod the other day but it wouldn't work - it was stuck on the apple logo screen.
    I have tried:
    - resetting it
    - letting it run out of battery completely then turning it back on again
    - restoring it
but none of these methods worked. It is still stuck on the apple logo screen! So therefore I can't listen to music, and my laptops don't recognise my ipod... because it isn't on properly. The only way I can get laptops to recognise that my ipod is plugged in is by putting my ipod in disk mode.
and so it is still stuck on the apple logo screen. Anybody have any ideas? I have no idea what else to try.
    thanks so much in advance!

i have tried all of that as well and im still stuck on the apple logo. i hit it against a table and everything. Does anyone know what to do?

  • Ipod nano 4th generation battery is not charging in new Jaguar car

I've just got a 2010 Jaguar XKR car which comes with special cable for ipod. When I connect my 4th generation ipod nano, I get the message that the charging is not possible with this connection. However, when I connect my old ipod nano 2nd generation, it charges just fine. I presume the problem is with the cable. I'm thinking of getting another ipod (maybe ipod "touch") and wondering if anyone has any idea whether or not there are any similar issues with other ipods. Any input will be appreciated.

The cable in your new car should be replaced (by the installer) with the correct cable.
The message pops up on newer iPods when you attempt to charge using FireWire.
Newer iPod will not charge with FW but older ones will.
The 2nd gen nano will charge with FW but the 4th gen nano will not.
Apple notified manufacturers over three years ago that they would quit using FW to charge.

  • IPod touch 4th gen stuck at apple logo, not recognized by iTunes/PC. HELP!

My iPod touch 4th gen is stuck on the Apple logo for over 20 min now. I've tried to put it in recovery mode, but a second or two after it shuts off, the apple logo comes back. My PC and iTunes can't recognize it, and I want to find a way to restore or reboot it. Thx in advance!

Try putting it is DFU mode:

  • Ipod nano 7th gen stuck on apple logo screen

New iPod nano 7th gen.  At first attempt to upload songs, was prompted to update software.  So, software was updated and as I was installing software update to the iPod, I got a message stating that the iPod was in the process of a restore (I think this is what it said.  I didn't pay a whole lot of attention as i was not expecting any problems).  I continued with the restore because nothing had been uploaded to the iPod yet so nothing would be lost.  At this point, the device has been stuck on the apple logo screen for a couple of hours now.  The only response I can get from it is when I do a reset.  The screen will black as it should and then go right back to the logo and stay.  Please help.....Son not happy as this was one of his Christmas presents this morning.  Really not looking forward to a trip to the apple store on the day after Christmas.

I am afraid yo need to visit the store and possibly ask for a replacement. In some cases, doing the reset will correct any issues, but by the way you describe it, it freezes with apple logo. Better to get a replacement.

  • Ipod Touch 2nd Generation stuck on Apple Logo loading up screen.

I have looked at many posts and nobody has found a solution which suits me.
My IPod gets stuck on the Apple Logo Loading screen when I turn the IPod on. Many say to reset the IPod, and so I do, and before long it dies, meaning it is unable to complete the reset.
When I plug it into the computer it dies not long after it stays on the logo screen, but when it is plugged into the wall it will just stay on the apple logo screen for ages. So could it be the IPod itself that isn't working?
ITunes cannot detect the IPod because the PC cannot detect it, and the reason the PC cannot detect it, is that the IPod has to be loaded and ready.
So I am running out of ideas, the nearest Apple Store is miles away.
I had it as a Christmas present this year, so its not that old.
The Apple Mobile Device service is fully working.
Any advice would be grateful, thanks!

If not then I would take it in for repair.

  • Stolen ipod nano 4th generation - can the thief hack any of my information

Recently hand this ipod stolen from my car and just wondering if anyone knows if the thief could get my personal info from it

If Contacts or Calendars information is synced to the iPod, yes.  The thief would not even need to "hack" it.  If Photos are synced, that may be personal information, and accessible.  Also, if you had disk use enabled, and copied files to it (as a storage device), that data would be accessible
Otherwise, I don't think there is personal information on the iPod.  iPods (that are not the touch) connect directly to iTunes, so there is no information on it like network logins and passwords, or emails.

  • I lost my iTunes library on my pc when the hard drive crashed. None of the data on the drive was recoverable and I did not have a backup. How can I get the music that resides on my ipod nano (4th generation back onto the new hard drive on my pc.

I lost my iTunes library on my pc when the hard drive crashed. None of the data on the drive was recoverable and I did not have a backup either locally or on the cloud. Much of the music is from old vinyl and podcasts which are no longer available.
How can I get the music that resides on my ipod nano (4th generation) back onto the new hard drive on my pc.
I have been reluctant to install iTunes on the new hard drive out of fear that I will lose all the contents on the ipod if I try to synch to the new hard drive.
    Help!

No backup is a huge mistake.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

My ipod nano 4th generation only works when it is plugged into the computer; otherwise, the screen turns black and it is completely unresponsive to any efforts such as pushing buttons, reseting, etc. What should I do?

Sounds like the battery is shot and in need of a replacement.  You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair center for a bit less.
Not much else you can do for troubleshooting this one.

  • I have an ipod nano 4th generation.  I let my grandson, who has a shuffle, connect his shuffle to my computer and now my itunes recognizes his shuffle and not my nano.  How can I get rid of his shuffle and re-add my nano

have an ipod nano 4th generation.  I let my grandson, who has a shuffle, connect his shuffle to my computer and now my itunes recognizes his shuffle and not my nano.  How can I get rid of his shuffle and re-add my nano?

    Hi lundjj,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may find the troubleshooting steps in this article helpful if your iPod nano does not appear in iTunes:
    iPod not appearing in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3716
This information can also help if you are using multiple devices with a computer:
iPod for Windows: Connecting multiple iPod devices to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3622
Although FireWire and USB connections will allow multiple iPod devices to be connected to the computer at the same time, iTunes for Windows works best with only one iPod connected at a time. If you plan to connect multiple iPod devices to the same computer, eject any iPod devices that you are not using from iTunes.
    All the best,
    Jeremy
