TS1382 Ipod stuck in a loop replaying same song

My Ipod 7th gen nano will not move forward through an album nor will it shuffle.  Repeats same song over and over in a loop.

Hello runswithscizzors,
I recommend first restarting the iPod and testing the issue. If that does not resolve the issue I suggest resetting the device. Here is an article with instructions for both of those procedures:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430.
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If these steps do not resolve the issue I would recommend restoring your iPod to factory defaults and syncing your content over again.

  • My ipod touch will only play the same song over and over unless you manually fast forward?

My ipod touch will not shuffle through the songs. It just plays the same song over and over.  All that shows at the top is the info picture.  How do I fix this?

    Do this:
    Play a song.
Tap the screen once so you see the scrubber.
To the left of the scrubber, there's a set of two arrows going in a circle - if it's blue, it's set to repeat.
Click on it once to make it white - no repeat.

  • My ipod touch second generation play the same song

my ipod touch second generation plays the same song

Touch the screen and turn off the repeat control.
See page 55 of the iPod User Guide at: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_touch_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf

  • My Ipod touch wont shuffle, stays on same song

Mi ipod touch won't suffle songs.  It keeps playing the same song.  It used to work fine, is it not working correctly or am I doing something wrong?

You have repeat on.  Turn it off.
This is covered in the manual:
iPod touch User Guide (For iOS 4.3 Software)
Play a song, tap the screen, tap the repeat icon until it is white = off.

  • My iPod pauses/turns off during the same songs while docked in my speakers.

Why does my iPod pause during certain songs each time.  Some are downloaded from iTunes and some are imported from CDs.  I have deleted and reimported the ones from CDs, but it still happens.  This is really agrivating and has nothing to do with the headphone jack because I am not using the headphones.  Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?  It seems to be the same songs each time.

    A few questions:
    1. Do the songs play correctly in iTunes?
    2. Have the songs ever played correctly on the iPod?
    3. What format are the songs in? (Highlight the song in question in iTunes, then right click and do get info. Look at the summary tab. For example, here's a song a ripped long ago from CD into iTunes:
What do you see for the songs that are giving you trouble? Is there something common in the kind, bit rate, sample rate, or encoder that is different from the songs that work correctly?

  • How to fix: Music corrupts when transferred to ipod. This happens with the same songs on multiple ipods and the song plays regularly in itunes...

Basically, I've already described the problem. Some songs play perfectly fine in itunes but the same songs corrupt when placed on different devices of varying age. Therefore, I don't think there's something wrong with the original file and I don't think there's something wrong with all of my devices. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

    Hello there klundie,
I was researching the issue you are experiencing, and have come to the conclusion that the songs in question may need to be converted and re imported. This article, iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format outlines how to re import songs that are already in your itunes library, which I believe will resolve the issue.
You can find the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
To convert a song's file format:
    Open iTunes Preferences.
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click the General button, then click the Importing Settings button in the second section of the window.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then from the Advanced menu, choose one of the following (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences):
    Create MP3 version
    Create AAC version
    Create AIFF version
    Create WAV version
    Create Apple Lossless version
If you haven't imported some songs into iTunes yet, you can import and convert them at the same time. This will create a converted copy of the file in your iTunes Library based on your iTunes preferences. To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows) and choose Advanced > ConvertImport preference setting. The Import preference setting will match what you chose in step 3. iTunes will prompt you for the location of the folder or disk you want to import and convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted. Note: Some purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted. iTunes Plus purchases are not protected and can be converted.
The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • 80G Classic Ipod Stuck in Reset Loop, Please Help

    Hello,
My Ipod (80G classic) is stuck in the continuous reset loop showing only the apple logo. I have tried restoring it numerous times, to no avail. I have also tried uninstalling itunes and re-installing it, different versions also, this does not work either.
This is very frustrating, and I am finding no help on the apple site. Any suggestions?

I'm not clear if you've actually managed to get iTunes to restore the iPod yet. These steps should make it possible. Hold Menu+Select for about 6 seconds until the iPod resets, then hold Menu+Play as soon as the Apple logo appears, again for about 6 seconds to put the machine in disk mode. Connect the iPod to your computer, closing iTunes if it opens. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors*. Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive. Once these have been fixed you should be able to start iTunes and complete the restore process. I'd suggest you don't rush to put back all your music in one go. Test that the iPod works with a smaller playlist first.

  • Ipod Stuck in "boot Loop" and itunes says I'm not connected to the internet.

Aright well I'm having a huge problem fixing my ipod.    Let's start at the beginning, i wanted to put new music onto my ipod but itunes wasn't detecting my ipod, it said i have to restore my ipod to factory settings, so i manually did it from the ipod it's self.   When it started to boot up again it just froze at the apple logo. and the loading wheel is stuck. after some research i found out that its called "boot loop" and the only way to fix this is to restore it from itunes itself.
sounds simple enough,  so i go ahead and connect the ipod to itunes and try to restore it (via DFU mode) The restore wont happen because it says im not connected to the Internet, when clearly i am.      So in a nutshell..   in order to restore my ipod.. i need to get itunes to recognize that I'm connected to the Internet.
I've done everything i can think of,   make sure my firewall isn't interfering and itunes is enabled.  The Internet proxy is what it needs to be.  Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.   I actually chatted with a apple tech and he couldn't seem to help me out.
If anyone can help me or has been in this situation and know's exactly what to do.   please let me know.. it would be greatly appericated

That was the first thing I tried..what the site told me, but its still telling me I'm not connected to the internet when I am. Should I just delete everything by hand. Like I said I wanted to take it back and upgrade to the 80 gig ipod.

  • Just fixed iPod stuck in Restore loop

Well I busted my iPod. So I purchased a hard drive for it and installed the unit. All my instructions (gleaned from boards and tutorials) said to connect the thing and restore the iPod. I connect it and it says it is in recovery mode and in order to use it I need to restore it. No surprise, I expected that. I click restore and enter my admin password. It seems to begin the process but then kicks out a warning that says it cannot restore because iPod is busy. I tried ejecting and putting into disk mode manually. I reconnect and the warning says the iPod is corrupted and needs a restore. I go through the whole rigamarole again and it says it is busy. If I leave it connected after the busy warning and click 'OK' then it automatically begins again, saying that the machine is in recovery mode and needs to be restored before i can use it. Same thing all over again...Click restore, admin pass, can't restore because the iPod is busy and so forth.
I tried ditching iTunes and re-installing it. No dice.
I tried erasing the drive with Disk Utility, but the erase failed citing an input/output error. the computer told me that partitioning the drive will eliminate some iPod functionality so I didn't try that.
I tried connecting it to my friend's computer. I got it to toss up a license agreement window for the iPod software (a good sign I guess) but I don't know his admin password to continue. The hope that lies therein is that the license agreement window for the iPod software pops up and that is something that differs from the process on my computer.
I tried going back to my computer and ditching iTunes again and reinstalling an earlier version. No dice. Earlier versions of iTunes will not recognize the library because it was created in a later version and therefore iTunes will not open.
I even tried giving the iPod the old smack in the palm of my hand like some have suggested, but again, no dice.
Any ideas on what needs to happen? How do I convince the computer that iPod is in fact not busy and really would rather restore itself? How does an iPod with literally nothing on its mind become busy and how, if it is, does it become "unbusy"?
(Update: I went back to my friend's computer with him there to enter his admin password. It now does the same thing my computer does and will not bring up the license agreement for iPod software.)

I had this problem today, and I think I figured it out. After multiple tries, and ITunes freezing up, I did a reboot with the IPod connected. I got a window saying that the drive was unrecognizable by the computer. It gave me three choices, to "verify," "Ignore" and another choice, I think it was "OK". I picked "ignore." Then I opened ITunes, it recognized the IPod, and it prompted me to restore again. This time it worked. I think that by telling the IMac to ignore the "drive," ITunes didn't see it as being busy. This makes sense to me, as I enabled the IPod to be used as a drive to store files. If this is the case, I'm surprised Apple doesn't see fit to provide decent documentation for these error codes or fix the problem in ITunes. Hope this helps for you.

  • Ipod stuck in startup loop

I have updated quicktime, itunes and then I updated my video ipod. The ipod has been cycling between the bright startup icon and a dull one. Then it seems to turn off and start again. I have tried resetting the ipod with no luck. It won't mount on itunes or as a hard drive so I can't get it to stop. Any advice? It is going to do this until the batter runs out.

    Same problem here...
60GB iPod, brand new, just installed latest iTunes, then did an update on the iPod firmware (to 1.5 maybe?).
After my iPod completed the firmware update (watching the progress bar on the LCD) it will not boot to the main menu.
The sequence kinda goes like this...
    1. Dim Apple Logo for a few seconds
    2. Bright apple logo for 8 seconds
    3. Audible Click noise
    4. iPod resets
    5. Back to step 1
Tried doing the Menu + Select reset, nothing works...has been doing it now for over 30 minutes and I think it's dead. Plan to take it back to the store I bought it.
Again, this is a brand new iPod, have never heard a tune out of it yet, so maybe there is a flaw in the firmware update code. The iPod was only connected to my PC for a few minutes prior to me doing the update.
iTunes did ask me if I wanted to interrupt the iPod music update to to the firmware update, which I said OK, so not sure if that step is relevant for the developers or not.
Ahh well...hope the next one I buy doesn't do the same thing when I update it to the latest firmware!

  • Can you have two separate iPods on iTunes without having the same songs?

My husband and I both have iPods but we don't want to same music on them. Really we would like to have two separate iTunes, so that I don't get his music and he doesn't get mine. Is that possible or do we just have to manually sync them?

  • How do I get my ipod to quit repeating the same song over and over?

How do I get my ipod nano to quit repeating the same song over and over again?

The control for repeating a selection is available when the Music app is open and the iPhone is in the portrait position. There are three settings Off, repeat one song and repeat album or playlist. You change the setting by tapping the icon.
    OFF
    Repeat one song (current selection)
    Repeat album or playlist

Yes, first try deleing both songs.
    If still problem
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, ,make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ipod stuck in a reset loop.

My Ipod classic 120gb is stuck in a reset loop. I plug it in and the computer detects it and it immediately resets itself. I can't do a restore on it, it isn't on long enough to start the process. I have tried the diagnostic mode but I only get as far as the firewire detect which I cannot perform because my laptop isnt equipped with a firewire port. I can't do anything that needs the internet, as I am currently on a deployment and the internet we have access to we arent allow to connect anything to or download anything. Is there anything I can do as I dont come home until next year and thats a long time to go without portable music. I appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide.

    I'm not guaranteeing anything but...
    1. hold the center button of the iPod and the menu at the same time-then wait for the Apple logo to disappear and reappear keep the center button depressed and do not let go for the next step.
    2. Immediately after step one keep the center button depressed and push the play/pause button until the disk mode appears.
    3. Verify disk in disk utility (if you are using a Mac).
    4. If the disk checks out OK it's most likely an [software] issue that will require a full restore of the iPod or a trip to the Genius Bar. Being that you can't do either for a while you're probably stuck with a brick for a while.
I have heard that there is a way to restore from a backup, ala iPhone, but I'm not sure of how to go about that. It could be a false rumor.

  • I have an Ipod Touch and when I activate the shuffle mode it keeps replaying the same song.  How do I fix this problem?

have an Ipod Touch and when I activate the shuffle mode it keeps replaying the same song.  How do I fix this problem?

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat. You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
    Any luck there?
By the way, this is the iPod Shuffle forum.  Since you have an iPod Touch, you should have posted this in the iPod Touch forum.
