TS1389 Repeated iTunes Authorization Request

I moved our iTunes libraries from our old to new computer using the instructions on Apple.com.  However, iTunes continues to request that we authorize our new computer when trying to sync my wife's iPod to the new computer.  As such, iTunes will not sync her iPod with the new computer's iTunes library.  Further, the message says their are 21 purchased songs on her iPod that are not authorized and will deleted.  Since it does not say which 21 of her 105 purchased songs are impacted, and because Apple lists only 37 of her 105 purchased songs as being purchased (because, per Apple, some iTunes songs may no longer be offered on iTunes), we cannot simply redownload those songs from iCloud.
I have followed the steps suggested on Apple.com as follows
Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
Authorize using the correct account name
Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)
Remove the SC Info folder
Note that I followed these instructions related to my iPod and iTunes library and it did sync my iPod without requesting additional authorization.  However, the problem persists for my wife's iPod.  (Note that both accounts are adminstrator accounts on the new computer and so I would have thought that either both accounts would sync their respective iPods, or both would not.)
The steps suggested have not corrected problem on my wife's iPod.  Furhter, Apple will not provide direct phone support since her iPod is over 5 years old.
I'd appreciate any assistance regarding this issue.

I was having problems connecting my iPhone 4s to my iTunes, so I was advised to restore my phone as I had everything backed up to my laptop.
I have restored my phone 3 times now and cannot sync anything to it as i need 'authorization' but whenever I enter my apple ID and password to complete the authorization i get a pop-up saying
'we could not complete yout iTunes store request. an unknown error occured (-42408) there was an error in the iTunes store. please try again later'
like I said, I've restored my iphone 3 times now and get this every time and in doing so I have lost everything that was on my phone (that im not worried about) i just want to know how I can authorize my laptop so I can sync music to my iphone.
I am up to date with the latest itunes and all softward on my phone.

That means you had already done de-authorization once last Jun26. Please take note that you are only allowed to deauthorize all only once a year. Refer to this article:

If your computer is not currently authorized to play your previous
account name's purchases, when you double-click an item you
purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog
may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to
remove the old account name from the account name field, type the
new account name, and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer
    to play the account's purchases.
If you are unsure about which account was used to purchase a
    particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab. The account name will be listed on the
    right.
If you need further assistance in locating the current account name,
please reply with the account name listed in your items' Summary
tab. In addition, please include the order number for those items if
    possible.
You can locate order numbers by following these instructions on

I think I am about the 10,000 person to post this and still I can't find a solution. Hope someone reading this can help. I keep getting an Authorization request on recently downloaded music from Itunes. If I reboot Itunes, it will usually play through "once" the entire CD. When I put it in repeat mode it won't do it. That said, it did do it for an entire day on this recent download and now it back to having to reboot Itunes to play the CD again. I don't fricking get it! Please someone from Apple reading this fix it or someone who knows the secret to make it stop please come forward. This started, by the way, after I upgraded to the most recent upgrade for Itunes.

  • Repetitive authorization request; Sync Problems

    Hello,
Lately, I've been using iTunes (PC) to listen to my music on iPod, because I don't want to overheat my external GB hard drive. I don't have to turn on my HD; I just plug my iPod via USB. I often burn new music onto my HD and then sync to my iPod without any problems until...
Yesterday, I decided to plug my iPod into an iMac and chill. My iPod was set on "manual management"; and the iMac did not ask to authorize the use of my iPod on its iTunes... and so I played music off my iPod.
A few hours later, I go back to my PC; burn some music; and tried to sync my PC iTunes (HD) to my iPod... and I get this repeating dialog box asking me to authorize this computer for the 400+ purchased songs.
Now, I did what iTunes support pages suggested: 1.) Authorize computer via administrative account... except, I don't think authorization via administrative account applies to Windows limited account. 2.) I deleted the SC folder.
    Then nothing syncs.
    P.S.
Oh, I see... I forgot to set my preference and connect to my external HD.
    Now it syncs.
But my question is: Why does it seem that after I use my iPod thru iMac iTunes that I start to have problems with Windows and the repetitive authorization request? ... Is that a bug?

    Hi All,
I had this problem today myself, and was frustrated repeatedly by the '4002' error.
I have literally just fixed the issue by doing the following steps:
1: Go to the 'Store' tab and select 'Turn Off iTunes Match'
2: Return to the 'Store' tab and select 'Update Genius'
3: Wait for this to complete succesfully, the return to the 'Store' tab once more and select 'Turn On iTunes Match'.
4: iTunes Match will now go through the motions and should succeed!
    I hope this helps

  • "Cannot complete iTunes store request..." error solved

As posted elsewhere here, repeated clicking between "iPhone" and any other header such as "Music" or "Playlists" in the iTunes browser has solved this error message:
"Cannot complete iTunes store request - network connection was reset. Make sure your connection is active and try again."
After about 45 minutes I got the message: "Restoring iPhone from backup"
It is now sloowwly restoring my original iPhone (No usb 2.0 on the old PowerBook G4 400)
Hammered Apple servers = tried patience. Keep trying!

I don't know if this will help you guys, but it worked for me...
I've been having the exact same problem since upgrading to iTunes 9. Installed the recent update to 9.0.1.8 with no change--still no icons when the Store comes up, long vertical layout, 306 error when clicking on anything.
I'm on an older Windows box with XP installed, Safari 4.0.3, iTunes 9.0.1.8. I use Firefox for the web. Though it WAS installed, I had never used Safari on this machine. Went to take a look at Safari and see if there was anything wrong.
I found that Safari was NOT set up properly to get through my Firewall--again, I had never used it before. As soon as I got the internet settings right in Safari and made sure it could get to the web properly, I re-launched iTunes and lo and behold the Store worked properly. This was NOT a problem with iTunes 8. Apparently everything with Safari needs to be kosher before the iTunes 9 Store will work.
Maybe you all have done this already, but it immediately solved the problem for me. Hope this helps someone.

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request. You are not authorized to access the requested resource.

Over the past year, when using iTunes Radio on my iMac, I keep getting the following message: "We could not complete you iTunes Store request. You are not authorized to access the requested resource. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." This only happens on my Mac, not on my iPad.
I looked at the Apple Support Communities and the most common workaround is to click on Store/Authorize this Computer. After entering my Apple ID password, the response is "This computer is already authorized." Well, duh. But at least the iTunes Radio starts to work for awhile.
There are other workarounds, but none is easier than the one I just mentioned. But my question is, when will Apple fix this problem? It's just annoying.

    Hello there, TaylorGraphics.
Some users have seen resolution to this issue by logging out of the iTunes Store and then back in. The following Knowledge Base article provides a reference on how to do that:
Using an existing Apple ID with the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and iBooks Store

Use your Apple ID with the iTunes Store
Open the latest version of iTunes.
    Choose Store > Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password and click Sign In.
Click Review when asked to review your information.
    Enter your billing information.
Click Continue after you enter your credit card and billing information. You can remove or edit your credit card information at any time. Learn more about updating your iTunes Store account information.

  • We could not complete your iTunes store request an unknown error occured 50

Yeah. I got this message while I was trying to access the iTunes store and I had to wait about 10 minutes then I got this message. "We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-50). "
I am on a multi-user mac mini running OS X 10.5.5 with an intel core on the non-administrator account with most things enabled. I have been having this problem for a while when going from my library to the store. It can't open up the store, but it can download items to my computer from the store still. Can someone please look at this? I really need this issue resolved.

I have the same problem PLUS I get the "Genius is temporarily unable to show you related music..." whenever I select a song. This occurs even when I log in as Administrator. Updating to 8.0.1 did not fix either problem.
I can access the iTunes Store and download music. Genius had no problems uploading my iTunes Library info, and it can create playlists for selected songs. I believe this rules out communications and authorization problems. I have a G4 Mac Mini, a G5 PowerPC, and an Intel iMac with the same problem, so it's unlikely to be a Mac hardware issue. A firewall problem was unlikely (since I can access the iTunes Store), but I tested this with the firewall off. Both problems still remained. Updating Genius, turning Genius off and then on again, reinstalling iTunes 8, updating to 10.5.5, etc. did not work.
The only unusual factor is that I have HughesNet satellite 'broadband.' I cannot see how that would matter, but perhaps the individual song iTunes Store and Genius features don't get along with something in my HughesNet 'modem.' Any ideas from other users?
