I am using an iMac, 8.1, early 2008. I installed Windows XP at that time. I am now using OS 10.8.5 and want to remove the Windows partition to free up disk space. Boot Camp Assistant does not allow me to select the "install or remove" option. How can I get rid of the Windows partition?
You can try removing it in Disk Utility.
To resize the drive do the following:
1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
2. Click on the Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
3. Select the bottom rectangle/partition. Click on the Delete [-] button below the sizing window to remove it. Click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
4. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for the remaining partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and drag it all the way down to the bottom. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a restored single volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss. Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work. -
My phone randomly doesn't ring when people call and not sound the text alert. I checked all the settings and them seem to be correct. Sometimes it rings, many times it doesn't. I have missed several calls. Same with texts. Anyone know how to fix this?
Symptoms

Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Go to step 2)
Go to Settings> General> Reset> Erase All Content and Settings. Warning: This will delete all user data on the device. Verify that you have a backup before proceeding. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Go to step 3)
Restore device using latest version of iTunes. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and select a ringtone. Does the device ring? (YES: Issue resolved) (NO: Contact Apple for service options) -
i have been trying to update my iphone and when i tried to do so it said i needee to restore it first so tried this and since my phone just has the usb icon and itunes showing on it wont turn on or anything and half way through restore it comes up with an error message saying it cant complete it anybody know how i fix this please doin my head in

I am having the same issue. After hunting around on the community boards for a while, I noticed that ZoneAlarm Firewall came up fairly often as causing issues with syncing. I re-activated the firewall that came bundled with my less-than-a-year old Windows 7 pc and completely uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I dragged and dropped one of my playlists to the iPhone 3GS and then most of my music then came back, but I am still unable to get all my custom ringtones (created in i ringer) to reload. I've tried dragging and dropping to no avail (I use "manually manage" because I add audio books from the library).
Others have posted these same issues and the odds that we are all doing the same exact wrong thing seems astronomical - there must be an issue with the latest firmware update. Different iPhone versions, different OS on computers, PC v Mac - all having problems after the latest update. Coincidence? Hmmmm!
If you do have ZoneAlarm, it might be worthwhile to change that... -

Try rebooting. Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPhone should restart. See if you can use it when it comes back up.

Yes, I know the photos stored on the device... But which app are you accessing the photos with? Which app do you want to be able to highlight more than one pic at a time in?

When clicking on a lookup, firefor does not allow me to select from the list
When I use firefox, the website I am on has lookup fields located on it, firefox does not allow me to select my preferred option from the list. also when I slect another lookup from a list it displays the message 'invalid lookup value located in field ......'
This does not happen in IEStart Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I updated today to the 5.0.1 and now when I try to sync to ITunes, it doesn't recognize my phone and an error message comes up saying that "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started.' ICloud will not sync my contacts or calendar in Mac Office 2011. ICloud does however sync to my PC at work running Microsoft office 2010 and also to my IPad and IPhone. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I just updated my iPhone 6 to IOS 8.3. My safari will not let me search anything. If I type in a website URL, the Go button is greyed out. If I type in something to search on google, I press Go and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I just got a new white iphone 4. When I try to take a video using the camera app, there is only a muffled sound. I never had this problem with my old iphone. There is a good possibility that your trimming of the SIM card could have damaged it some way. If the SIM was working in the old phone, then you cut it and the first new phone didn't work and now this phone doesn't work, it leads me to believe it has to do with the SIM card or the account. You are sure there is no problem with the account. Did you check with the provider when you got the iPhone 4 to make sure there was no problem with the account when you could not send or receive SMS? Why can't you just get a micro-sim? The iPhone should have come with one when you purchased it.The iPhone 4 is designed for a micro-sim. I don't believe this is a hardware problem unless the phone has been hacked or modified in some manner.
