TS1398 My Wifi button is grayed out, and resetting my wireless settings didn't help at all. What should I do? (2nd Generation iPod Touch)
The Wifi button on my iPod touch is grayed out, and reads, "No Wi'Fi", but won't give me the option to change it. I reset the Wireless settings, but there were no rresylts. What should I do?
Not good. See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

My wifi button is grayed out and cannot turn on what's wrong with my iPhone
Just wondering what will apple do about it my Internet is essential for my every day life.
The WiFi chip or its connection to the logic board is faulty. If you have Warranty or AppleCare it will be covered. If not, Replacement iPhone 4 is $149. Try a Restore of your iPhone with iTunes on your computer. If still problem after Restore, try Apple.

My iPhone 4's WiFi button is grayed out after update
Just spent the last 60 minutes on the phone with Apple support in regards to my iPhone 4's WiFi button being grayed out and unable to turn on. Went through all the steps and suggtions I found on the forums and support. Nothing worked.
Called Apple Support and was walked through a total factory reset of the phone...still doesn't work!
I was told that they can not help me because the phone is out of warranty...THIS HAPPENED AFTER UPDATING TO YOUR CRAPPY iOS 7 update! It's your glitch...using the wording from the nice Apple Support gal...she admitted it's their "occasional glitch" in the software. Now I have to get a new phone because of their software "glitch"?Just spent the last 60 minutes on the phone with Apple support in regards to my iPhone 4's WiFi button being grayed out and unable to turn on. my iCloud Backup button is grayed out and i cant turn it on. All my devices are on Wifi. Help! Both my ipad and iPhone
A number of employers will push a security profile to your phone when you add their exchange account that prevents you from backing it up to iCloud. They do this because they don't want confidential company information on another companies servers. If this is the case, you will find a setting called "Profile" in Settings>General near the bottom.
You would have to contact the company's IT department to confirm that they are preventing you from backing up to iCloud but that's normally what causes the iCloud backup setting to be grayed our or missing from an iOS device. -

Hi there madcheo,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below if your Wi-Fi settings are grayed out.

I have followed the steps above for downgrading iCloud storage options, but when I get to the screen to select a downgraded option, the Done button is grayed out and won't let me select a new option. I see a lock in top right-hand corner, but not sure where to go to unlock it.
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the iCloud icon.
Click the Manage button.
Click Change Storage Plan.
Click Downgrade Options.
Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.
Choose your current plan, then click Done.

While editing photos in Aperture, I trying to make an "auto" adjustment to the exposure,
but the "auto" button is grayed out and will not allow any auto function to take place.
Please help!
Thank you,
MikeMike, are you working with raw images?
For some raw images auto exposure is not available, have a look at this manual page:
http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=18%26se ction=9%26tasks=true
Note: Automatic exposure adjustment is available for Aperture-supported RAW images only. If you want to adjust the exposure of another file type, such as JPEG or TIFF, see Working with the Exposure Controls. For a list of supported RAW file types, go to the Apple website at http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs. -
I have an older MacBook Pro (circa 2009). Lately I've noticed my volume button is grayed out and I cannot adjust it. I've tried rebooting. Sometimes it becomes available to use and other times not. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
Reset the SMC. Check the Audio Midi Setup utility. If connected to an external display that has audio, that may have hijacked the audio.

WiFi on 2nd generation iPod Touch times out
The WiFi for my 2nd generation iPod Touch is connected, but the internet is either excruciatingly slow, or times out every time I try to use it. I have a full signal and I've tried resetting the network settings as well as the iPod setting, but neither has made a difference. How do I fix this without spending money?
I took it into the Apple store and was told it could be a hardware problem, and (of course) I'm out of warranty, so tough cookies. How does something like this happen? I haven't dropped it or spilled anything on it. All I've done is listen to music, download apps, play games and surf the internet -- why am I told "tough luck," because it decided to stop working after two years of gentle usage? Ugh. Hope this serves as a warning to others: Apple products are not really worth the pricetag if they give out after 2 years, so be weary.

2nd generation ipod touch is pretty much no good anymore? It is not able to upgrade to iOS5.1 and so will not work with many Apps in the iTunes store? Is there a way to find out if the App will work before you download?
Look to the app developer to provide that information when browsing the iTunes Store.
The iPod Touch still works, so what's your problem with it? It still works with older apps, it still does what it's intended to do.
If you aren't happy then sell it and buy a new one. -
When i was waiting for an hour for itunes to grading my 2nd generation ipod touch to a 4.2.1 and it was about done, it suddenly said the network connection timed out and that made the upgrading a fail. Why does it do that? and what does it mean?
Error -3259 is a network timeout error, usually. This article might help:

I have a 2nd generation iPod touch. I have not updated the software from version 2.2.1. When I connect to iTunes to update to 4.2, I keep getting an error message. Has anyone else had this issue and figured out a way to fix it?
Error -1
Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
