TS1398 My wifi is no longer working.

Its not finding my wifi and when I try to add it myself it tells me it can't scan for wireless networks. I've tried switching the wifi off.  I've tried restarting my modem and the phone. Nothing is working.

tried making it forget the wifi network and adding it again?
tried updating the firmware of the wifi router?

  • My wifi is no longer working in my home office

I have had my desktop in my office for over a year, last week it stopped working. All other devices are working fine. I can move my desktop to other rooms in the house and wi-fi works fine, but when i plug it back in the office it no longer works. I can only conncect in that room via wifi and now I am stuck. My laptop connects to my wi-fi in the office. I am stumped.

...I don't know what that all means, but when I do it on my laptop I get a transmit rate of 104 and an MCS index of 13. Don't know if that means anything, all other values are the same from both computers
The PHY Mode represents the radio mode that your iMac is connecting to the Wi-Fi network. In this case 802.11n.
BSSID: This is the router's hardware ID. This lets you know which router your iMac is connected to.
Channel: This is the radio and radio channel that your iMac is connected to. In this case, it is connected to channel 7 on the 2.4 GHz band. The only channels that do not interlap, in this band, are: 1, 6, or 11. With your iMac connecting to channel 7 leads me to believe that there may be some form of Wi-Fi interference in the area from this location to it to have to choose another channel.
RSSI: This is a measure of how "strong" the Wi-Fi signal is as perceived by your iMac. The closer this value is to zero, the better.
Transmit Rate: This is the current maximum connection rate that has been established between the iMac and the wireless router. It should be much higher than this.
MCS Index: This is the encoding method used for the wireless connection. It also indicates how many streams are being used for the connection. Depending on the model of your iMac, it should be able to connect with up to three streams. Your wireless router would need to have the same capability for both to connect in this method. Basically the more streams the better. The value of 11 is telling me that it is only using two of those three streams ... and thus why the max transmit rate is so low.
The only thing I can't tell you is why, at this location, your iMac is performing so poorly. Again the only thing I can think of is Wi-Fi interference.

  • IOS 7.1 update problem. Wifi disabled, no longer works. Disappointed with apple response

I have several IOS devices and updated each of them to Apple's release of IOS 7.1.
Unfortunately my iPhone 4s did not update successfully. It was affected by the widely reported issue regarding WiFi being disabled permanently. After the update to IOS 7.1, wifi is no longer an accessible option on the IPhone 4s.
After doing some online research and identifying this as a common problem, I tried some of the suggestions available online such as resetting settings and restoring from backup. None of these suggestions worked.
I brought the iPhone 4s to the apple store at the Rideau Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and spoke to one of the employees. He stated that it was not an apple issue and that it was a problem with my phone that would cost $200 to resolve. He said that it was not a problem related to the ios 7.1 update and that it was a "coincidence" that it happened at the same time as the update to ios 7. 1 and was probably an issue with the wifi chip.
It is surprising to me that applying an update recommended by apple and using the iPhone 4s in the manner in which it was designed (using wifi) would cause this basic function (wifi) to cease to function.
Wifi is an essential part of my day to day use of this device. I am appalled that apple is denying the problem and has no resolution for it.
If anyone else this problem, please go to your nearest apple store and let this forum know your experience in getting the issue resolved.

  • After i updated my ipad mini 2 to IOS 8.1.3 Wifi is no longer working

    Model: Ipad Mini 2 Retina
    Version: IOS 8.1.3
My problem is that after i realize the update to IOS 8.1.3 my ipad keep saying me that im offline. I checked with my laptop and the wifi is working correctly. I need help with this an ipad without internet connection is almost useless, cant even connect in the office and my house.

To expand if you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network(s) or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network(s). Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. Do NOT reset it. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

  • WiFi Sync no longer works

I've had wifi sync succefully work on my iPhone 4 since iOS 5 was first released but it recently stopped working. I didn't notice at first because I rarely use it. I'm using a Windows 7 64 bit desktop. I'm not sure what the problem is I first tried disabling windows firewall but that did nothing, Then i tried reinstalling itunes with no results. I was wondering wether iTunes match may cause problems with it as i seem to remember it stopping near when I got match about a month ago. Any help would be apreciated as this is really annoying me.

Oh and I'm running itunes 11.1.4 and yea I have uninstalled it and reinstall too

  • Previously succesful public wifi connection no longer works for Ipod Touch?

I work at a small airport in canada. Free public wifi is available via an Aliant Hotspot. I've used my Laptop on many occasions there. When i purchased my Ipod touch, 4th generation, it worked fine too. Until recently. Now, the touch recognizes that the network is there. it connects, or so it appears, but the welcome page will not load to allow me access to the interent. Please help me! Normally, as soon as i choose my hotspot network, the welcome page comes up, allows me to select my language.... legal agreements... another page as a welcome, and then full access the internet.... now nothing.
I'd be so grateful for some help!

    Diane,
You're very welcome, I know that is some kind frustrating when a problem appears and it's quite difficult to find the solution.
    So let's trying with this:
Based on your feedback it seems that the iPod is receiving correct data from the router, what we can try here is the following:
Connect the iPod touch into the network, and copy the network data (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS) into a piece of paper, then in the iPod Options of the network, there must be a button indicating DHCP, now press a button that must say Manually and the network data will be erased, then you must capture the information that you had copied in the paper.
When you finish, wait a couple of seconds and then do a test.
Here I have a question, you said that the iPod worked fine until recently, so another tip is try to connect your iPod to another network, this may discard that the problem with your iPod could be a hardware problem.
But first try with the insertion of the data manually.
    We keep in touch!,

  • Ios 8.2 wifi connection no longer working

"upgraded" to ios 8.2 on iPod touch 5 and now no wifi connectivity no matter what steps.  Already did the reset, hard reboot, etc .

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost Likely you did this but not sure what a hard reboot is)
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • With 7.1 "Share WiFi Settings" no longer works for A3 Pioneer Speaker setup

I am nolonger able to link my Pioneer A3 Speaker with my WiFi network by plugging it into my iPhone or iPad, no message asking "Share the WiFi Settings". I have used various cables, re-booted WiFi and devices etc so conclude either my A3 has suddenly broken, or the 7.1 updates messed things up.

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Apple doesn't have anything to do with this other than enforcing the DRM protection. The developers of this content expect to be paid if someone wants to use their content. When you purchase content in the app store, you purchase a license to use the content. This license does not permit you or anyone else to resell or give this content away. The individual you purchased the phone from simply does not have the right to sell or give away any purchased content on the phone. You were deceived.

Is it possible to recover my data from iCloud backup without working wifi? I have as many other upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2 with the result that the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth no longer works. However, i can connect to iTunes via cable but there is wrong version of backup.

    Answer is no.
If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.
    Succes, Lex

i have an ipod touch it is either a second or third edition and i have just had to restore it to factory setting as it was not working and now the wifi on the device is no longer working. Is there anything i can do about this?

    Is it this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • IPhone 4s no longer connects to wifi, wifi is greyed, FaceTime no longer works

I have been having issues ever since the iOS 5.1.1 update and I thought with the iOS 6, all these bugs would be fixed. Unfortunately they have not. My iphone's wifi has not worked for several months now. I believe it is the reason my FaceTime no longer works. Weird thing is, is that I can still receive FaceTime calls, but cannot make them myself. The wifi section in settings is greyed and I cannot even switch it back on. It's permanently in the off position. What is going on with my phone . Dissapointed in my Apple product.
PS- We have an Apple wireless home router, top of line, and we have everything Apple in our house specifically to deal with disconnect issues. My iPad works great at home, same with Apple tv. I know it's my phone.

    See this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If it doesn't help you likely have a hardware failure. As your phone is still in warranty take it to an Apple store. Make an appointment first.
