Ipod Touch 4g unable to join wifi network
We have a new Ipod touch 4g. We have a wifi router in our home. We have to other ipod touches and two iphone that log on with no trouble. I have updated the firmware software on the router and updated and restored the ipod. What else can I try?
The problem could be caused by a firewall in the router. For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router. If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again. If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again. Repeat as required.
Edit...
Two other IOS devices are functioning properly. This solution is not valid. Sorry. -
TS1398 New Ipod touch 4 not connecting to internet although wifi is connected
My daughter's new Ipod touch 4 will not connect to the internet. It previously did but now Safari is saying it is not connected to the internet - although it is connected to the wifi network fine, and my older Ipod which is sitting right next to it is working without any problem.
Any hints?- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

Brand new ipod touch 3 frustrating slow wifi
Dear all, I just opened my brand new iPod Touch 3 yesterday and it connected to my wifi network without any issue.
But then, the browsing has been a joke. Not a funny one. It is slow like you have no idea. I could load only 4 pages in the whole evening. The google front was one of them.
I was sitting right next to the router. It didn't help.
I cannot say I was loosing the connection. Only that loading any page was next to impossible.
My provider of internet is www.get.no in Norway.Update: I previously advised the following quoted manual set up. I thought had solved problem but it returned. I now have found I think the real root of slow iTouch on Airport Wifi Network. Seems wireless telephone is interfering on 2.4 freq. Channel for 2.4 Freq was set on 1. I have now changed to channel 6. I have now being operating Two iTouch at same time for several hours with no freeze and acceptable speed. Anyone else having hang ups, slow operation, etc. would suggest trying channel change on 2.4 Freq., especially if you have wireless tel. in house.
Brad
Quote of Maculu manual set up
You open Airport Utility, click on manual setup, enter your WiFi password, click on wireless tab, click on radio mode drop down box, pick 802.11a/n-802.11b/g instead of automatic, Now click radio channel selection and pick manual, pick any random channel for each of the 2 frequencies. -
TS1398 My ipod touch wont remember my wifi password. Any help?
Ihave a new ipod touch with the latest software and it will not remember my wifi password. I have to reconnect and renter the password everyday when I come home. My router is a Linksys using WPA2-Personal security with AES encryption. I searched the net but usualy answers are only for iphone or ipad. I saw one that said to reset network settings but that didnt work for me. Any advice?
I have powered on and off a few times and I did try what ipad and iphone suggestions were applicable but no luck. I was thinking that it was because the router security was changing things to keep unauthorized people out but my laptop never has an issue. I did change the password to an easy one so I could at least enter it everytime alot easier than the long digit one I originally had but it would be nice to have it work correctly....

Can anyone help? EDGE is working fine for me, but I want to go a bit faster when I an at Home and connect to my mac's airport. Do I have to have a airport base station to accomplish this? My IPhone is reconizing my mac, but I keep getting "unable to join the network 'myname's iMAC G5'". I am getting a strong signal (from the airport drop-down menu) and I have "use interference robustness" turned on, but still unable to connect. Any advice? Thanks
Allan is right, if your iMac G5 is sharing it's network connection, that is what the iphone is picking up.
If this is the case, on your iMac, try going into your system preferences > sharing and turn off internet sharing.
Then power off your iphone and power cycle your airport. Then turn your iphone back on and check to see if the iphone sees your airport network.
If it does not see your network, the airport might not be broadcasting the network name. This can be set up for security reasons.
Go into settings > wi-fi and choose other. This will allow you to put in the name and password of your network. -
My home wifi is working for all my other apple devices but my daughter's Ipod Touch won't connect. It recognises the network and attempts to join it as usual but it just keeps 'trying' without actually connecting. Have switched on and off, renewed lease, reset networks etc - basically everything I can think of but no luck. Any help much appreciated.
Try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings. Go into your settings>reset then tap reset network settings.

I used to be able to connect my iPad to my house wifi network walking all over my house then one day it stopped. When i tried to connect to my network I would get an message saying "Unable to Join network". I found that if i was within 5 feet of my router it would connect and work just fine. At the same time I tried it at multiple other networks that I have before (girlfriends and other friends houses) and could not connect with same issue. Only place I can connect is my work wifi.
Can connect to wifi with my iPhone with no issues
I have reset my network connections

TS1398 error message says " unable to join the network"
I have tried turning the wifi on and off, turning the ipod on and off, the forget this network option, and reset all network connections. It still gives me an error message. I have 5 other devices that are working fine. My network is showing full bars, for some reason the ipod itself just will not let me join my network ...it WAS already joined, and in the middle of browsing online it kicked me off and will not let me back on.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router

Ipod touch can't find wifi network
Can anyone help me? my ipod touch isn't letting me use wifi access. this is due to it not letting me chose an access point. When I go to settings and tap wifi, it is saying there is no wifi active in the area, even though there is. The wifi is working on every other device including pc and phone.
If not this problem:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Macbook air unable to join wifi network
I have a brand new MacBook Air and am new to Macs, but have a very good understanding of PCs. I constantly have to reenter our wireless security code for Wi-fi. Now I am receiving a message that says "the computer was unable to join the wi-fi network you selected". What am I doing wrong?
After a 30 minute phone call with Support, nothing worked still! In the end he suggested changing the channel of the wireless router/modem. I tried to do this (after research online on my imac) and then lost all internet connection. The router/moden no longer worked at all! Then had to call the support line for the router; spent another hour or so trying things, but to no avail. In the end have had to buy a new modern modem router (Belkin Dual band N+ PLAY N600 DB) and so far ......................it's working! But we only bought it this morning. Will report back another day with an update!
