TS1398 Safari and mail not connecting on ipad mini

Suddenly, at home or work, my ipad mini is acting up:
- It connects to Wifi ok or using Verizon cellular data
- But neither Safari or Mail can access the internet.
- Yet Square, (which requires an internet connection) works fine
- Also, all  my coontacts are gone...
I have tried all the suggested ideas to reboot, disconnec, reset Wifi etc... (which is not the answer as when I am on cellular network I have the same problems.)
All was workin gfine for months before...
Any ideas??

I was at work and could not try all your suggestions.
Now that I am done, I turned on my ipad, and all is back to normal???  After being totally messed  up since last night.
But I do think that Lizdance idea about the icloud and password might be the answer.  Somehow apple straightened it out...???
Thanks for helping out!  What an amazing thing this internet is!!

Sorry, don't know what you are asking. You have an old iPad Mini 3 and a new iPad Mini 3?  How did you set up the new iPad? Did you restore it from a backup of the old iPad? What photos are you not seeing?

  • Safari and Mail not talking to each other Safari says no software found

    Hi Everyone,
Okay, when using Safari and trying to email the web content by pressing command + i a message pops up saying the following "Safari couldn't create and email message because it couldn't locate an email application." then it states "You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages. To do so, you need to install Mail using the Mac OS X installation CD's."
Well I have mail it came with Leopard "Hello" I use it every day. Has anybody encountered this problem any help would be highly appreciated. I have cleared the preferences out of the library folder for Safari and Mail and nothing.

  • Safari and Mail not recognizing IP/network after picking up new WiFi?

Very strange behavior that has happened numerous times - and I can't figure out what is going on.  The situation is that when I travel to school and connect to the wifi network there, I'm having issues with Mail (5.1) and Safari (5.1.2).  Network CP shows me an IP address and appears all is well - however Safari does nothing (no msg that I'm "not connected to the internet") and Mail just displays the triangle with exclamation point inside ...next to each mailbox.  Interestingly, I can open up Firefox and go on my way.  So why is Firefox able to 'see' the internet (Dropbox and other apps are fine too) yet Mail/Safari is having issues?
    Here's what I've done:
Quitting/re-opening Safari:  Safari icon bounces in dock for a minute, literally, and never opens.  Now I go to try to open it again and it doesn't even try to open - no bounce, nothing (it's actually in "not responding" mode according to the force quit box).  So I force quit, re-open and it goes right back to that same behavior - not responding.  Have to restart to get it to act normally again.
Mail won't even quit. I have to force quit - every time that this happens.
Anyways, I can't tell if this is MB Air specific behavior, given its wifi troubles (which I have continuously whether at home or school) - or if this is purely an OS/software issue.....or a combination?
Anything else I can do to help troubleshoot, let me know.  Thanks in advance.

  • Safari and iTunes not connecting to internet after 10.5.3 but firefox does

    Hi,
My first post ever. I just updated to 10.5.3 from 10.5.2 After the update, I can not connect to the internet using Safari. I get an error message that I have no internet conection. I ran the network diagnostics and everything was reported as working correctly. I also ran a repair permissions from disc utilities. Still can not connect with Safari. I also noticed that itunes can not download any podcasts. My "software update" in system perferences can not connect either. Firefox has no problem going online.
Any suggesttions on how to proceed?
    Thanks

Also worked on 10.4.11. I installed an Airport Express and updated all the software and firmware on my MacBook. After Safari, Itunes store, Google earth could not connect but Firefox was connecting fine. Followed your tip. Disableing the proxies on the Network config does the trick. Very simple but very helpful, thanks.

  • Icloud and mail - not connecting

My mail is failing to connect to the icloud server. Just happened. This happens about every  6 - 9 months for no reason. Worked fine earlier today. Any suggestions?

and this is great, if I go to iCloud support it won't let me contact them without a HARDWARE serial number! For a mail account connection error!

  • I can not connect the iPad mini to mobile hand set wia blue tooth?

My iPad mini does not connect with mobile hand set using blue tooth?

    Correct.
That is not a feature of the iPad.

  • Safari and Mail not communicating.

I am using Safari 7.0.5 and Mavericks 10.9.4, and recently, when I click on a link in Mail, Safari opens, but there is no window open. If I open Safari normally, I do get a window, so the problem seems to be related to some kind of problem between mail and Safari. This has made it impossible to follow any links in mail. I did try setting Firefox as my default browser, and I do not have the same problem. Any ideas as to what may have caused this?

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Safari and Mail not working, and now software update not running!

    Hello, can anyone can help?
I was running 10.3.9, no problems, with safari, mail etc, through my standard third party router. Then today safari won't open up, just goes into spinning ball. Mail won't even open. I have re-installed the system from original discs back to 10.3.3, but still no luck. I can't even run software demag from a download of the apple site, whirling ball again.
Do I need to go for full system default re-instal, as I will loose all my mail folders and safari settings?
    Pretty stuck at the moment......

Sounds like a problem with your internet service provider. Perhaps contact them and see if they are experiencing problems. The other thought is the modem and next is the router.

  • Safari and mail not responding

    - when I try to open an internet site I get the message "this page could not be opened because the server has stopped responding". I cant update email either. It has worked fine until this afternoon.

tried that with no sucess. I have also reset the network connections then reconected using my wi fi modem.
I am looking through the settings to see what else it could be?

  • I lost my safari and mail icons.  How can I get them back in the screen?

I lost my safari and mail icons on the ipad screen.  How can I get them back or where can I find them?

Have you checked all your homescreens and app folders for them, and do they show on the iPad's spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right and type in Safari or Mail) ?
Safari can be hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being 'off', so you could check that as well.
If you still can't find then try a reset and see if you can find them after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot
There is also Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout which will reset the layout of your apps and might make it easier to find them.

  • Safari and Mail won't open in Snow Leopard

Any else having this VERY frustrating problem of Safari and Mail not opening. I've installed Snow Leopard and downloaded and installed the 10.6.1 update. Then when I try to open Safari, it says, "You can't use this version of the application Safari with this version of Mac OS X. You have Safari 4.0.3." When I try to open Mail, it says the same thing. I downloaded Safari again, and it won't even install it saying, "Safari can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer." But I have 10.6.1.
    Help. Anyone? Please?
    Thanks

    HI,
Try launching Safari and Mail from the Applications folder. If it works, drag the Safari and Mail icons off the Dock. Just drag straight up. They'll go poof.
With Safari or Mail open, select the icon in the Dock/Keep in Dock.
If that doesn't help, locate these files.
    com.apple.Mail.plist
    com.appple.Safari/plist
Drag those files to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
