Loaded iBooks 2, downloaded e.o. Wilson textbook on life. Opened book and only get gray screen without any way to turn pages. As top menu does not appear cannot even switch to another book. This occurred on 3rd time of trying to open book, First two times would result in iPad switching back to home screen. This last issue also happens when trying to open new york times app.
Shut down all programs that are running in the background.
1. Double-click the Home button to see Apps in background
2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minu sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close program
4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo

When I try to connect my Ipod to my Imac it shuts down and goes to reset.
I have an IPod classic and I recently used it to put my purchased music on a PC at work and now it won't sync when I connect it to my Mac. It displays the "do not disconnect screen," shuts down and then displays the reset screen and then loops the whole sequence again. When I disconnect it the menu screen comes back up and it plays like normal.

My ipad just started blanking out in certain apps, such as the NY post or certain games. When i try to flip a page in the NY Post the ipad blanks out and goes back to the originial screen. The same thing happens with some games. Does anyone know what is wrong or how to fix this?
Try resetting your iPad. Press and hold sleep button until slider shows up on screen. Shut down then start it up again.

Safari shuts down and I'm hungry
I have accessed Foodnetwork.com for years without a problem. Now it shuts down my Safari, I have tryed it with my wife's G4 and it works fine. I have also tryed some of the fixes suggested by Hawaiian Starman, and others, remove files from preferences, remove cache etc, to no avail. The Food Network page begins to load its initial "green screen" and that is as far as it gets. I have reported it to Apple, but I am not holding my breath that they will do anything, or even care. Any additional suggestions from you folks will be greatly apprecited. Thank you in advance, Wayne Loney

each time i try syncing my ipod with itunes, it freezes itunes and i end up having to shut down my computer. This started happening after the latest download and my latest purchase. The latest purchase doesn't show up on my iPod and itunes freezes at synching step 2 on 2. Any suggestions?
You should Reset your iPod, by
1. Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 Secs till the Apple Logo comes ON.
2. Disconnect the sync cable.
3. Check the iPod Welcome screen, select language, go to menu (if you are lucky, your music are still on the iPod.)
if your iPod doesn't show the Welcome screen, bring it to Apple Store.
If the above is okay, (can see Menu but no Music)
4. Close iTunes and Reboot your PC.
5. Start iTunes
6. Connect the iPod to the Sync cable.
7. if iTunes ask to Restore, please do so.
8. Sync your iPod. ( I would advise you to disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus program when doing this.)

As I understand it you are not able to turn your phone on, and the power button doesn't work so you cannot turn it on that way. You may be able to get it back on by putting it into Recovery Mode, which only requires the USB connection and a working Home button.

My iPhone 3gs is shutting down and going into un-recovery mode?? : (
Hi, its my first time on here, due to the fact that I have never ever had any problems with my iPhone 3gs.
Until 3 weeks ago.
It all started when my e-mail decided that it was going to be difficult. so I go to restart my iPhone and my screen lock/ power button does not respond at all. then the trouble ensues.. two days later, (after I ran the battery to nadda so it would turn off) and was fully charged, my phone cut out while I was sending a text. I was connected to wifi. the cell service bars were gone, and 3-5 seconds later my wifi disappeared also. at this point I was thinking dude? and the touch screen was still functioning. so I checked the network settings and my screen became unresponsive. my phone then went instantly to a black but still lit screen and then was off. my lock button still would not work so it wouldn't turn on with that, so I hit the home button and it showed a screen with a iTunes symbol and a USB cord, and a slide for emergency call bar. also there was a little quetion mark circle thing so I tapped it and a screen with two four letter acronyms and a number set for each showed up. long story shortened, I call apple and am on the phone with them for 5-6 hours over the next two weeks. they were of absolutely no use, and proceeded to lay into me about how I am using too much data.. and that my phone is probably not going to be fixable.
I get it to work by popping my sim card and restoring it then puting it back in and factory reset it with the sim card in it.
I get it working again and it is fine until last night. same exact thing.
what can I do?? im lost.

my phone has had around 200+(10-30) gigs run through cellular data (3G)
about 450 gigs total including wifi. X (
has never been jailbroken, dropped, opened, water damage etc..
current i tunes/iphone updates.

THANK YOU!!!If I was in your shoes, I would choose to restore the iPhone with iTunes and then choose to NOT restore a previous backup. I'd then go on to set up the phone as though it were totally new, and choose the stuff to load onto it.
The reason I'd go through that trouble.. even though it meant losing a lot of settings and having to set stuff up again .. is because I wasn't sure I could trust the backup that it's restoring from.
If you have trouble again after doing the fresh reload -- especially if it's soon after you do it -- you may have a hardware issue with the phone, such as faulty flash memory or a processor chip that's failing. If that's the case, you'll want to consider your repair/replacement options at that point. -
My iBook randomly shuts down and goes back to 1969

It does this only while running on battery power. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? I suspect my battery is dying, but can't tell for sure. Any tips will be much appreciated.

PabloThe same thing happened to me two weeks ago, restarted like normal but the date was set at 1969. It seemed to be working fine, and I installed a new security update and shut off my computer. When I have restarted my computer since then, I get a blinking icon of an earth in the middle of the screen. After a few minutes, it becomes a smaller icon of a folder that alternates blinking between a question mark and the finder guy's face. A few minutes later, it will start up like normal, set at the correct date.
Tonight my computer randomly shut off again and went through the same blinking icons before it started up, correct date. I checked the battery capacity following the steps you gave, and it says it is 3722. Any ideas what this problem could be?

My ipad keeps shutting down and the screen goes blue
My Ipad will barely stay on now. It's 6 months old and recently started shutting down and going blue and shutting down. Can this be restored or do I need to take it into an Apple store?

If after an SMC reset it will not power on then I suggest you take it to an Apple store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for a diagnostic check and estimate of repairs.

Safari shuts down for no reason
Has anyone had a problem with Safari shutting down and the phone going back to the home screen?
On occasion yes but there are several things to try which should help.
To quit Safari while open, press the hold the Home key until the iPhone returns to the Home screen. When re-launching Safari, no previous website open will launch and Bookmarks will be provided.
You can also clear the Safari history and cache on the iPhone and last but not least try a Reset which does not affect any data or settings.

Safari won't load after update
