TS1398 trouble connecting to mobile hotspot

I am using my data plan which is on the three network with blackberry bold 9900 to connect to my ipad retina as a hotspot, I use the same method on my laptop and have no trouble connecting; but when I try to connect to the ipad it takes several attempts and then it decides to connect.  I have gone through the settings and still have the same situation over and over again.
Any advice????

I believe your MAC address is what you see at Settings > General > About > WI-Fi Address.

  • Trouble connecting to a hotspot with Iphone4

    Hi,
I have trouble connecting to a hotspot with my Iphone4 iOS6
When i choose the hotspot wi-fi network, the white page allowing you to enter your login & p/w appears but it doesn't load so impossible to indentify and connect.
I have all settings on with the provider.
    Anyone heard of it?
    Please help!

    Okay
I'm getting confused by your nomenclature.  That's why I asked for your examples.  Here is my premise.
    1. A provider provides a cell signal not  Hotpsots across a city.
    2. A business provides a Hotspot to allow their customers to connect to wifi.
3, An iPhone can create it's own Hotspot by usiing cellular data.
I'm assuming you want to do #2.
    This is Settings> Wifi> Choose a network
... Tap one you want to join and then it will ask you for a security password or it will allow you in without one depending on the nature of the network.  Let's suppose you see a network called Starbucks
Are you failing when you select Starbucks or before that?
    Cheers

  • I purchased an Italian hotspot to access internet on my American Ipad2 while abroad. I had no trouble connecting to the hotspot but when I try and access the internet it "cannot connect to the server". what does that mean and how can I fix it?

I am abroad for the summer and there is no internet available. I purchased a hotspot in a nearby vodaphone and they helped me connect the Ipad to the hotspot. I assumed I would have no trouble after that. Once I got home though and connected to the hotspot i found i could not open the internet without getting a notice about not connecting to the server. I have a signal and can connect to the hotspot and yet i get no internet. I already spent 50 euro on the hotspot for 2 months of wifi...is there a way to actually fix the problem without me having to spend more money?

I'm guessing e mail does not work either.  While the pad is seeing the network, it is not yet connecting, probably trying to work through your security set up.  I suggest you go to settings, then network, then the details of the network.  Do you see an ip address that starts with 192.168.1. Then some number? If not, the router has not made friends with the pad.
Suggest that from that same screen, you select 'forget this network'. Then start over again, paying close attention to what happens when you provide the security password.

  • I am unable to connect my mobile hotspot as wifi for ipad - Always dismiss

I am unable to connect my blackberry mobile hotspot as wifi for ipad  but during connecting message comes as dismiss

What router are you using? make/model/version
What security type are you using? If it is WEP then symbolic (non hex) keys may be converted to hex in different ways by different operating systems. Is your laptop a Windows PC?
If you are using WEP then drop it and move to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be hacked in seconds).

  • Cannot connect to mobile hotspot using wpa; only open security works

I have a Galaxy S5 and am trying to connect to the mobile hotspot using my Surface tablet.  If I have the mobile hotspot setup using WPA2 security with a password I cannot connect however I can connect if I am using Open security.
I can connect the surface to other routers using WPA security, just not the Samsung as a mobile hotspot.
    does anyone have any suggestions?

What you have proved here is that your tablet has a password conflict somewhere.  You should find out where your wireless profiles are being stored on that device, wipe them out and then try connecting again.  Once you provide the tablet with all of the correct connection credentials and configurations it should connect just fine.
Connecting without a password proves there is not a WiFi issue.  Connecting to other devices is additional proof that there is not a WiFi issue going on.  You just need to straighten out the security issue and then will be good to go.

  • Windows 7 unable to connect to mobile hotspot after last patch

    Hi,
I recently re-installed the Windows 7 on my laptop. I applied a lot of patches.
I have two phones: one blackberry curve and an android Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Since yesterday I was able to start the tethering on the smartphone and activate the mobile hotspot. Windows 7 was able to connect to the mobile hotspot without any problem.
Yesterday evening I applied the last patches and this morning I restarted the PC to applied them.
Now Windows is not more able to connect to any mobile hotspot. However, is still able to connect to a standard Cisco WiFi network.
Does anybody have any idea why?
    Thanks

Since issue only occurred after you installed the last patches, in addition to the wifi driver, I also suggest you uninstall the latest patches for a test, seems something conflits with them, what is the result?

  • New iPad won't connect to Mobile Hotspot using WPA or WPA2

I have a new iPad running iOS 6.01.  It connects to wifi networks perfectly.  I also own a Blackberry 9790 that is capable of running a wifi hotspot.  When I try to connect my iPad to the mobile hotspot when WPA or WPA2 Encryption is used the iPad cannot connect.  If I change the Encrypstion to WEP I am able to connect the iPad and wifi works on it.
Is there a reason the new iPad won't connect to a mobile hotspot that's using WPA/WPA2?  Is there a way to resolve this issue?
I am able to connect my MacBook Pro to the mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 so I know that it's not my phone or the hotspot not working properly.
    Thanks

It appears as though I fixed my own problem...I hadn't yet tried restarting my blackberry or my iPad since I had been trying to setup the mobile hotspot and connect the iPad.  Anyways, I restarted both devices and then tried connecting using WPA/WPA2 and it worked.
iPad is now connecting to my mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 with no problems.
Maybe try doing the same if you haven't.

  • Trouble Connecting to a Hotspot

This question has elements specific to the UK.
I have an iPhone 4 16GB on Vodafone pay monthly. So I get 1GB Wi-Fi. I'm also on BT total Broadband so I get unlimited Openzone through them.
From my desk in my office I am in range of a BT Openzone hotspot. I cannot log into it. I can login using my Vodafone or BT id to an Openzone hotspot down the road, one of the Phonebox ones. I can also use Starbucks and the BT FON at home (although clearly I use the main W-Fi as it is faster).
Other people using iPhone 3GS and one person on an iPhone 4 32GB can log in to the Openzone hotspot at my desk. I have not been able to test with another 16GB iPhone 4.
When I log in it shows me connected to Openzone in settings but the icon at the top of the phone remains on 3G. When I look at the openzone connection it shows an IP address in the range 169.x.x.x while everyone else's connection shows a 10.x.x.x range IP address. I get a 10.x.x.x range address when I connect, for example, at Starbucks.
Clearly using free Wfi-Fi all day at work is faster and cheaper than using mobile data.
Why does only my iPhone not work with only this hotspot?
I have reset network settings, forget this network and powered down the phone in various orders.
    thanks
    Jonathan

    Update
I have now managed to try the same test with another 16GB iPhone 4 (also on Vodafone) and that has the same problem. So it is either narrowed down to the the 16GB model of the iPhone with this hotspot or iPhones on Vodafone with this hotspot.
Could this be a hardware/router compatability issue if this public hotspot uses a different router/ router configuration? This is a major annoyance as it would give me free fast access all day at work rather than slower expensive mobile data.

  • Trouble connecting ipad to hotspot

We have been using an iphone 4 as a hotspot for our laptop when we're away from home with no problem.   We tried to connect an ipad and had no luck.  The iphone showed up as an available network, but when we tapped to seclect it, the little circle just kept spinning and the password blank never showed up.  We checked settings, turned both devices off and on, allowed it plenty of time but still nothing.  We tried about 10 times in different places in the room and made sure the signal was good.  The iphone shows '1 connection' while all this is going on even though the ipad has not completed the connection.  Any ideas?

  • Internet Explorer not connecting off mobile hotspot

I have had my phone for a year.  I have not had any problems with my hotspot until recently.  Internet Explorer gives an error message that website can not be displayed.  I have tried to go to different websites and get the same error.  At first I thought it was my desktop computer.  However, when I attempt to connect on my netbook I get the same error, along with my Nook.  The issue appears to be coming from the droid device.  I have checked my connection and the test comes back connected and I have full bars.  Any suggestions on how to fix would be great.  Otherwise I am paying for service I can't use.  The only recent change that has occurred is my area finally got 4G.

        Hi Tbuice!
That's not good! I know how important it is to have a properly working device at tall times. Let's get this fixed. Have you made an recent changes to the device like new applications, or a software update? Any recent monthly voice or data plan changes? Does the web browser on the device work? Keep me posted.
    Thanks,

  • TS1398 Trouble accessing O2 wifi hotspots since updating to IOS 6

Has anyone else got this problem, I updated my iphone 4 last week and now can't access the O2 wifi hotspots in McDonalds etc.?

    Update:
Took my ipad into the Genius Bar today and they sent me home with a new one. He tried resetting two or three different things while I was there and after all his resets, he couldn't get it to even connect to their wifi network.

  • Having Trouble connecting to Ruckus Hotspot

Have the correct password and close enough to the router, but keep getting the spinning hour-glass.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
