TS140 dedicated video card recommendationd

Hi there,
I bought the TS140 with the i3 and 4gb of RAM.
As it stands, it is a fantastic device with 8gb of RAM and 3 1TB HDD's.
It comes with the 280W power supply, which is on the lower end. Does anyone have some video cards they can recommend that will increase the graphics performance while not over exerting the power supply?
Thanks in advance!

Your best bet would be the NVIDIA GTX-750ti  (most powerful card that runs on PCIe power only -- does not require any 6 pin graphics power cables pluged in) and has very good gaming performance.  Or else the AMD R7-250 which is quite a bit less powerful graphics wise than the NVIDIA but  has negligible current draw  That one would be the lowest thing usable for gaming.
Both of these are low wattage cards and should be no problem with 280 watts good luck.

  • Blue screen when attempting to use the dedicated video card

I keep getting a blue screen when attempting to use the dedicated video card.
I managed to install the AMD driver for it but without the other components like the Catalyst Control Center as it blue screened on startup when attempting to load the Catalyst Control Center.
The OS loads fine. Any applications that don't use the dedicated video card runs fine. All other drivers install fine as well.
Applications like games and Photoshop that switch to the dedicated video card on startup automatically crashes, the OS freezes then a blue screen appears.
What could be causing the problem? This problem just recently appeared. Two weeks ago.

I tried installing the drivers for my laptop from HP's support site. Still the same result.
This problem only appeared a few weeks ago. Before that, the same drivers from the HP site installed and functioned normally.
Could this be a problem with the graphics card itself?
Note sure but if we can know the system P/N others can look to see what drivers it has for the graphics to know what is there.

  • Does aperture require a dedicated video card? If not a requirement? does it improve the performance of aperture?

Does aperture require a dedicated video card? If not a requirement? does it improve the performance of aperture?

Aperture can work with integrated video, but the consensus here is that Aperture is fairly demanding when it comes to graphics cards, as it relies on them for various processes. So, if you have the option to get a machine with a dedicated video chipset, do so.

  • Series of problems: Dedicated Video Cards turning ON AND OFF

Hi guys. It's been a long time. I'm back with yet some more problems.
After weeks of happiness with my wonderful computer (Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q706) I started finding some more issues with it. My laptop has three video cards as can be seen in this post: [Click ME].
One set is the integrated graphics card, an nVidia 9400M, and the other set consists of two dedicated nVidia 9800M GTX working in SLI.
What is the problem? At any given point the dedicated cards activate and deactivate continuously four or five times. This cycle can repeat itself two or up to four times a day.
Is that it? No. The set of cards are acticated&deactivated because the Windows Power Plans are being changed by an unkown agent. Whenever this thing starts it's because something is cycling through the power plans in an order I haven't bother to check but I know it goes through all three of them: Balanced, Power Saver and High Performance. I figured this out because while it was happening I had the Power Plan popup open and saw the radio buttons switching by themselves.
Is that it? No. When I wrote unkown agent, it wasn't so unkown. At one point I tried to run the Task Manager and keep a close eye on the list of processes running. Oh incredible is me. I found that for each time the power plan was changed, a process that went by "dllhost.exe" was causing the pain. See here:
At one point there were more than four of dllhosts. I looked it up and found that dllhost is a neutral Legit Microsoft file but can be manipulated to do "bad things". A few days later I still had the problem and checked the running processes with another program that replaces the task manager called "Free Extended Task Manager" by Extensoft. What surprised me was that when the thing was going on where there were supposed to be dllhosts therewere rundll32s instead. Should there still be rundll32 in Vista 64bit?
Sometimes, after the cycle is over, this error window will pop up:
I have no idea what it means. Sometimes it accompanies every turn the dedicated graphics set is trying to turn off. I suspect it pops up when the cards weren't able to shut down.
When I switch from the dedicated set back to the integrated card the fans won't shut down. Even after 12 hours they're still running at full speed and the air they're blowing out is practically cold.
That's all I gathered. I hope somebody can help out.

No, I am not saying it is bloatware.  Actually bloatware is anything that you don't need...
In this case I meant try that as a troubleshooting method.  If it is the case, then we can try reinstalling it.
You don't have to use the Tsohiba power management, or many other Toshiba software services.  It just comes down to if you need what those things do.  When they are working fine they don't seem to be CPU hogs so i usually leave them alone.  I did remove Toshiba power management on one laptop because it caused a problem and I was too lazy to do troubleshooting.  Also I was using the laptop as a desktop, always powered, so power management was not an issue.

  • Dedicated video card important for photo editing?

I am in the market for a new mbp, for photo editting (Lightroom, and photoshop occationally), debating between the 13" with an external monitor or 15".  I am sure the cpu power of the 13" should be enough.  What about the video card.  Is the integrated video card on the 13"s good enough?  I don;t play video games.
    Thanks!

I would actually be more concerned with the CPU power on the 13''. Though it will run CS6, the dual core processor will limit performance more than the integrated graphics. The integrated Iris on the 13'' is good enough, but processing speed may be an issue if you are doing heavy editing/ running concurrent processes. You may want to go with the baseline 15'' without the discrete GPU, with even better integrated graphics (Crystalwell), and, most importantly, with the quad core i7 configuration.
Comparison of the multicore 64bit benchmark test scores from Geeksquad show that CPU performance between the mid 2013 Air and Late 2013 13'' MB Pro are almost identical:
    Macbook Pro Retina (13'' Late 2013): 6206
    Macbook Air (13'' Mid 2013): 6140
    Compare with....
    Macbook Pro Retina (15'' Late 2013): 13429

  • How do i see the information about dedicated video card?

    Hey guys,
I have a dv6tqe laptop with a 1GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 6770M which has switchable graphics. the simplified ATI control panel that came with laptop has all the 3D options for the processes i choose to activate the "high performance" mode to use the dedicated GPU. The latest games play very well with no lag, however when I pull up dxdiag or any other vid card information gathering software the 6770M doesn't show up. Only the Radeon integrated graphics that run in power saving mode show up, even when im running the whole laptop with high performance settings. Is there any way to pull up info on the dedicated GPU?

  • MSI GT70 2PC dominator not using dedicated video card

Hi well for the past two weeks ive been having fps and perfomance issues in games like diablo 3, path of exile, guildwars 2, but there was an interesting point in path of exile at the option select screen and it says choose adapter and its stuck using integrated graphics card this could be the problem for most of my games, of course i went to nvidia setting and chose to use the nvidia card as global and changed the setting to use it individually for each game, my nvidia drivers are up to date 344.11 i swear i thought it was something else causing these problems but i can be sure now that i saw this problem in path of exile, everything is set so games use the GTX 870m but i wouldnt be having these kind of problem if it were in use right? please i really need help here, there must be something wrong i bought this notebook 4 weeks ago for 1600$us from bestbuy, you know how i feel :( i just wanna play my games as smooth as possible!!!

Beside the update you should do, if the problem still remains, I'll suggest to roll back the graphics driver to the version from MSI website.
*Make sure that you completely uninstall all NVIDIA related programs in Control Panel> Uninstall a program before the installation.

  • Dedicated Graphic Card Failure (ATI) - HP Pavilion DV6

    Hey guys,
I have HP pavilion Dv6 which have AMD Radeon Graphics card(may be 69xx or 74xx radeon series 1Gb ddr3).
    Currently i have installed Windows 7 & Ubuntu(Dual boot).
    Problem:
I was playing NFS when the system froze,so i turned it off forcefully, after that laptop always get stuck at windows logo.I also tried to switch the (bios)dynamic option(graphic) to fixed,in this option i do get past the logo but i am presented with blank screen ,in short no luck.
However i have managed to get it to work with ubuntu with intel default video card , through advanced recovery option.
What can i do to use some how similar approach for windows 7 i.e disable dedicated video card?
Can Graphics card can be repaired/changed easily?
    Thanks

Have you checked the hard drive using Diagnostics in BIOS? Or F2 immediately after power on? (F2 may not work if you deleted the Diagnostic partition to install Ubuntu)

  • Video Card

Hello all ?  I need some assistance if you would please ?  I recentley purchsed a p7 1380t running win 7 home premium.
I5 3330, 3.0GHz....6GB of memory, 64 bit.  The graphics are on board, I am considering installing a video card. Not wanting to break the bank ?  What would be a good video card to install.
After watching quite a few utube video's I notice a lag/ lack of performance. I'm thinking a new/better stand alone video card would solve this issue.
Any and all recomendations will be appreciated. Also would a new video card be a hard install ? And what would be required ?  I'm not totally in the dark and I'm familiar with the insides of a computer........

    BlueWing, welcome to the forum.
I believe that a new dedicated video card would increase system performance considerably.  However, depending on what you want to do with the computer, it may mean a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, also.  The existing PSU is only 300W.  Most newer mid-level cards require a minimum of 400W.
Here is a very good card that will show you what I mean.  Look at the section titled "System Requirements" in the "Details".  The card is older, so the price is reasonable.  It should give you good performance with Youtube videos.

  • Is it possible to add a video card to a V570?

I am curious if the v570 is able to support a discreet video card? If so, could you please tell me which ones? I really wanted a laptop with a dedicated video card, but this v570 met all other criteria at a better price.
    Thank you.

i'm pretty sure that it's not possible.

    Hi,
The answer is no way you can add a video card on your laptop. Actually nearly all laptops including many which have dedicated video cards.

  • Fried Video Card?

I'm assuming this is something that will require a motherboard replacement, but i thought i'd post here to see if anyone else has had this problem.
I am having serious problems connected to my video card. When i am in high performance mode (using the dedicated video card), i get system freezes. The computer locks up, and i have to force restart. This will happen in any program, and will happen on average once an hour. When i switch to better battery mode (using the integrated video card), i do not get the crashes. I do however have different problems. My laptop will choose to sleep on its own EVEN if i am running apps and working in them, this mostly happens in World of Warcraft. Also i get flickering horizontal lines, this happens in any and every program i run.

Does your error look anything like this? http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/953/mg0004.jpg
If so, I have been getting the same error on both the low performance and high performance settings. I have started a log of what I was doing when the crash happened and what was open, hopefully it is a software issue, if not Applecare will have to be summoned. Also, the error will occur with or without an external display.

  • At long last... the video card for all us late 2005 G5 owners (quad, dual)

Sometime early next week it should be official...

    Hi William,
I'll race you to the head of the line to get my x1900 for the Quad (unless you bought a 7800GT).
Decided I'll keep the 6600 as a second card.... either as a spare, or for use on a boat (should replace the anchor nicely since it's such a drag!).
Broader, at PhotoExpo, the Apple guys couldn't give me a definitive, but suggested that for 2 x monitors, it was worth using dedicated cards since each would have its dedicated memory for setting up the pixels vs. potential for paging image data in/out system RAM. I've seen odd postings on this topic, and lack of SLI withstanding, am still confused. I'm wondered if you have any experience to share on 2 x monitors and dedicated video cards vs. 1 card.?

  • Video Card performance issue

    Hi,
I've notified a bug regarding the switch between the dedicated and integrated video card in my Mac. Assume that the Intel HD is used. Do CMD + SHIFT + 4 (this is the shortcut to make a screenshoot). The cursor is blinking when I move it. Do the same but assure that the dedicated video card is used: the cursor does not blinking. Do you have the same behavior ?
    Thanks.

If the MacBook's iPhoto Library hasn't been upgraded by v.11, yes. Do you still have the installer for iPhoto 09? If you do, then delete the iPhoto application, it's associated preference files and the upgraded Library. Install 09, move the Library from the MacBook and then launch iPhoto 09.

  • Integrated or dedicated video

I know a little about dedicated video cards, I have had an ATI and two NVidias.   I have been reading that the Intel integrated video with their new Intel 3rd generation processor is good, but also have read that if you work with video programs (Like Cyberlink PowerDirector), you need the dedicated.  Confused because the AIOs with dedicated video are just that much more costly.  Anyone have experience with the integrated video?

All current generation integrated video is fine for video editing and encoding and has hardware acceleration. Dedicated video has it as well but you don't need a video card unless you really need extra horsepower. You would really be better off getting a desktop though as AIOs are not designed for video work and are not as flexible as a regular desktop for the same use.
