TS140 RAID - no ROM configuration utility on boot

Might someone help me setup RAID on a new TS140 (70A4001LUX).   I have installed a 128GB SSD and intend to use Windows 7 (64 bit). As a first step, I've gone into the BIOS and under Devices->ATA Drive Setup, and selected RAID, as I intend to purchase a few larger drives for this purpose later. However, when I reboot, I do not see the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology ROM configuration utility" upon system start (as noted in the user manual).  Instead, the machine complains there is no operating system. Any suggestions would be most appeciated. Thanks!!

I just picked up a TS140 and noticed the same issue.  The following steps / BIOS settings fixed it for me.  (From the downloadable Configuring ThinkServer RAID 100 on the TS140 and TS440 guide by Lenovo.)   1. In the BIOS Setup Utility, go to the “Devices” tab and select “ATA Drive Setup.” Set “SATA Controller” to “Enabled” and “Configure SATA as” to “RAID.” 2. “Hard Disk Pre-delay can be set to “Disabled” (the default). 3. Select the “Startup” tab from the menu, then select “CSM” and set it to “Enabled.” (Note: for "Boot Mode", I have found that "UEFI Only" works best for me with RAID enabled.) F10 to save & reboot.  You should now see the option (for a few seconds) to enter the RAID configuration utility via Control-I.

  • PT8 Neo SATA Raid Configuration Utility

I recently upgraded my system which was running a AMD athlon 1.2GHZ processor and only 128mb SDRAM.  The system was stable and running windows XP home edition.
I upgraded to the PT8 Neo motherboard which supports SATA hard drives.  I was expecting a dramatic increase when I upgraded my system to the new P4 800mhz FSB 3.0GB processor and 512MB DDR 400mhz ram.
I was still using my WD 60GB EIDE Hard Drive when I upgraded the Motherboard, Ram, & Processor.  The upgrade went smoothly and system worked without glitches.
Unsatisfied with the increase in performance, I also purchased a Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000 RPM hard drive using the SATA interface cable.
I have updated the bios of the motherboard and updated the driver for the SATA raid controller using Live Bios Update 3.
    I am having 2 problems:
Problem 1.  When I enter the bios for the SATA Raid configuration utility after the initial post by pressing , none of the selections are available.  I move my arrows down but nothing highlights and I can't select anything in the configuration utility except ESC key to exit.
The SATA controller is enabled in the BIOS.
The initial SATA Raid Configuration displayed immediately after the post, does show the hard drive.
I want to be able to boot from the new WD Raptor Hard Drive and transfer all the existing files from the IDE Drive to the SATA drive, but I can't seem to get the drive to initialize, format, fdisk, etc.
Problem 2.  Windows XP doesn't have enough resources available to activate the VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller in Device Manager.  It shows a Yellow ! and returns a code 12 (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use).  I have tried disabling several items in the bios including LAN support, On board Sound but nothing seems to work.
Keep in mind, I have downloaded the latest bios, latest drivers, etc.
The rest of the components on my machine are as follows:
    1.  Custom Built Computer (Non-Branded)
    2.  60GB Western Digital 7200 RPM IDE Hard Drive on IDE0 (Master)
    3.  DVD Rom on IDE0 (Slave)
    4.  MSI 52x32x52x CDRW on IDE1 (Master)
    5.  Zip 100 IDE Drive (Slave)
    6.  Floppy Drive
    7.  Pentium 4 3.0GZ 800mhz FSB
    8.  512mb DDR 400mhz Memory
    9.  ATI All-In-Wonder PCI Video Card
    10. SIIG Firewire controller
I have already tried removing the SIIG firewire controller thinking that it was getting in the way of available resources.  That did not work.
I have invested alot of money on this system, I wanted the best and have always used MSI motherboards because of their stability and reliability.
Please help as soon as possible.
    Thanks

first off you are only using one SATA so no option are avalible in Raid Bios
in order to install windows the safe way detach your 60ata hrad drive plug in the raptor and install windows then Press F6 at the begining the you will have to the SATA diskett in the floppy drive  in stall SATA windows drivers continue with install.
once you are fished Windows, drivers then shut down and plug in your ATA hard drive turn on your PC enter the bios navagate to the Advanceed BIOS Features/Boot Sequency selected your SATA raid drive as First boot then CD roms as second. then your done boot in to windows

  • Intel RAID configuration utility reboots computer

I recently built a new computer using the MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE. I was initially able to set up a RAID 1 array in the configuration utility and install the OS. I have been using the computer for a couple of weeks without any major issue.
I then had an interest in moving from the hardware "fake RAID" to Windows RAID. I entered the configuration utility using CTRL-I and after about 3 seconds in the utility, it will just reboot the computer. When I am in the utility, I can even select different options (or just let it sit there), but it always reboots after the 3 seconds is up. The computer is completely fine otherwise, and I have been gaming on it and using other intensive apps.
I have tried reflashing the bios and using default values. I also re-verified the array with RST and ran chkdsk /r. Nothing has seemed to help and the scans didnt find any errors. I dont believe this would be a driver/OS issue, seeing as how this all happens before the OS is initiated. Is it just a faulty motherboard? If so, is there any way I can delete the array (without losing data and without using CTRL-I) so that I can boot to Windows and create the RAID 1 array using the OS?
I am not overclocking anything either. Here are my specs (let me know if I am leaving anything relevant out) -
    MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0
    Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz LGA 1150
Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze
2 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB (in RAID 1)
    Windows 8.1 Pro

Clear CMOS and change to RAID mode under BIOS again. Which SATA ports do you use?
Clearing the CMOS worked! Thanks, I should have thought of that.
I guess I should start a new topic about switching over to a Windows controlled RAID 1. I believe it should be as simple as deleting the array and setting bios to AHCI mode. Then I can boot to the OS already on both drives and go from there...

  • RAID 1 is not showing in UCS Server configuration utility

    Hi,
I have a UCS Server C200 M2 Rack Mount and planning to install Windows 2008 R2 server in it. To make it High Available, i m configuring RAID 1 in it.
I can easily configure RAID from BIOS setup and after rebooting it shows me that the RAID 1 is found and Online in status.
Once I insert the Cisco UCS Server Configuration Utility 2.0 CD and try to check the RAID Configuration, it show me error message "SCU is unable to detect a RAID controller in the server"
If I move further to install OS then during installation setup gets hang and system reboots.
I attached the screen shot for review and help.
    Kindly advise!
    Thanks,
    Aman

    Hi Aman,
Can you download the Driver package from
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283860950&flowid=25801&softwareid=283291009&os=Windows%202008%20R2%20(x64)&release=1.3(1.1)&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
And extract w2k8r2_intich10r_13.21.0614.2010.zip for the Intel ICH10R integrated RAID controller.
Try Browsing to this Driver either from the SCU or during the direct OS reinstall and make sure
"Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware on this computer" is unchecked to be able to point to the Driver
I assume you are seeing the problem as described in the RAID configuration issues in
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/ts/guide/TS_2Server.html
Installing   Windows 2008 64-bit and RAID controller had issues.
LSI   drivers are not bundled in Windows 2008 64-bit. These must be installed   during the installation process. During the install process, if the hard   drives fail to be detected, use the load driver option to point the drives to   the correct drivers for the LSI controller in the system. The drivers can be   loaded using a USB drive. When loaded, the hard drives are displayed and the   hard drive for the OS can be selected.
Please let me know how the installation goes.

  • RAID Configuration Utility for KZPSC-XB in Alpha 2100

I have an Alphaserver 2100 and need to replace the RAID card KZPSC-XB. I believe I will need a diskette with the RAID Configuration Utility software on it to setup the RAID. The system is old, and I can not locate our original software.
Does anyone know where it can be located, downloaded, or a copy obtained?

    Hi @rcyoung ,
    Welcome to the HP forum!
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the  Alpha Server is a commercial product. You can do this at  Commercialforum/DiscussionBoards/server/alpha servers.

  • RAID Option ROM utility unavailable.

The thing is that I cannot access the RAID Option ROM utility during bootup, just because I don't the see the "Press <Ctrl-F> to enter RAID Option ROM utility..." option at all.
I've recently updated the BIOS to 2.0 to install Windows 8. Don't know if that has something to do. As I said, I don't see the "Press <Ctrl-F> to enter RAID Option ROM utility" option at all. The RAID 0 I installed Windows 8 on was setup before updating BIOS to 2.0. As per MSI statement, once the BIOS was updated to 2.0 it cannot be downgraded.
What I want to do is to add a 3rd. disk to my RAID 0 array to expand the capacity. I tried to do it under RAIDXpert utility under Windows, but I don't see any options to add a new device to the existing RAID 0.
Do any of you know if there's another key secuense (but Ctrl + F as the user guide states) to enter the RAID Option ROM utility during bootup?. Any help will really be apreciaed. Thank you very much!.
    My sys. specs are:
Mainboard: MSI A75MA-G55 with 2.0 BIOS
    Processor: AMD APU A6-3670
    RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333MHz
    HDD: 3 x 320 GB each:
             1 x WDC WD3200AAJS-00YZCA0 (Western Digital)
             1 x MAXTOR STM3320613AS (Maxtor)
             1 x Seagate ST3320413AS (Seagate)
RAID 0 (JBOD) composed by the Western Digital + the Maxtor. The Seagate is the one I want to add to the RAID 0

try >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed, if no change, it appear to be bios bug, if the same worked fine with older version.

  • Setting up raid O in disc utility

I want to create a raid O in Disc Utility on my Mac Pro 2.8, 8 cores.
I have 2 drives that i've been using in my previous powermac G5 stripped as Raid O with a Sonet 8 port E-Sata controller card, they worked fine and fast.
In my Mac Pro do I need an E-Sata Controller card like one from Sonet with 4 ports in order to achieve a raid configuration and speed?
With out a controller card, stripping 2 drives, does Leopard sees the 2 drives as one large drive without the speed?
Another question, when stripping the drives as a raid O configuration it asks which as an option the sector block size, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256,
for video editing which sector size be best suited.
    any suggestions would be appreciated.
    thanks

If you want to do software raid 0 with external drives or enclosures, then you can use either the ODD sata ports to esata adapter OR any esata controller card. Doesn't have to be from sonnet (although they are very solid).
    {quote:title=With out a controller card, stripping 2 drives, does Leopard sees the 2 drives as one large drive without the speed? }{quote}
This question is a little confusing...first, you don't need a controller card to stripe 2 drives together. It can be done merely in disk utility. Also, whenever you make a raid, it always shows up as 1 drive.
For the block size, if you're doing mainly video, higher sizes will be better, as your files are bigger in size. I've never heard much on using 256K, but afaik the video norm is 128K. However, if your files are very large, I don't see why not to go for 256K.

  • UCS Server Configuration Utility stuck Initializing Kernel

    Hello,
After upgrading to the 2.1(1a) firmware, I noticed that two of my 8 blades want to boot into this new Configuration Utility after the service profile has been applied. The software just sits at Initializing Kernel forever.
Does anyone know what causes this? Or why it is only happening on 2 of the 8 blades (which all have the same service profile)?
I have attached a screen shot.
    Thanks in advance,
         -Steve

    Steve,
If you not mapping an ISO and you are still seeing the Server Configuration Utility, would you do me a favor?
    1) In KVM, reboot and select F2 and screen capture the Boot Order. I'm curious if SD or USB is in the boot order
    2) Remove the blade from the chassis and look for SD-flash cards inserted into the side of the blade. There are two SD slots towards the front of the blade in the side.
    3) Open the blade and look for a USB stick inserted between the HDD's
With release code, the SD flash is disabled and should not be visible as a boot device. The SD cards provided for the rack C-series do have bootable images (Server Configuration Utility) is one of the bootable images.
If you have a USB stick inserted, the blade may default boot off of it. If SCU is on the UCS stick, that may be why you are seeing it.
If you find both SD and USB, would you mind removing them one at a time and let them boot up and report the results? (i.e. SD card only one test amd USB stick only one test)
Please let me know the results of your investigation.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Iphone configuration utility free app question

If I use the iphone configuration utility to add a free app to our devices, will end users be able to update the app without my credentials?

    Thank you for your concern.
Unfortunately, I tried various fixes, like changing the USB cable, choosing another USB port, trying it on the Boot Camp partition, trying it on other Machines and PCs, I even restored my iOS, but nothing got the Configuration Utility to like my iPhone...
What I did then was mailing the certificates to myself and by simply opening the attachements within the Mail App on the iPhone it allowed me to install it from there.
Long story short: it turned out I could do it without the Configuration Utility and that the iPhone is capable of configuring/installing the profiles directly when you send it over.

  • IPhone Configuration Utility showing question mark as device picture

My iPhone Configuration Utility doesn't work properly and I don't know how to solve it. As you can see in the picture, the Configuration Utility shows a question mark insted of the device picture of my iPhone 5 (iOS Version 6.1.3).
I can't find out what the reason is, but I guess it is the cause why I can't install my Configuration Profile (Message: "Profile Installation Failed", "The profile could not be added to the device."). I tried enabling encryption of backups of my device, but the configuration profile still fails to install.
    Any advice?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Intel raid controller ROM in MSI 875 updated yet?

Intel recently enabled the raid 1 option for the raid controller in their ICH5R chipset.
On the Intel website under the "Important information on Intel RAID Option ROM version" section Intel write the following:
    Quote
In order to fully utilize the new features included in version 3.5 of the Intel® Application Accelerator RAID Edition, Intel recommends that you first upgrade your system BIOS to one that includes version 3.5 of the Intel RAID Option ROM. You can obtain this system BIOS from your motherboard or system manufacturer.
The latest bios for my 875P Neo-FIS2R MS-6758 was released 2003-6-26 so I find it hard to believe that the 3.5 raid ROM is included since the software was (officially) released on 7-7-2003.
Furthermore I still have no raid 1 option when configuring my intel raid controller - only performance arrays can be set up.
When will MSI release a new bios with the latest Intel raid controller ROM?
    Best regards
    Andreas

I also humbly await the arrival of the (875P)6758 1.7 Bios update to enable RAID1......Any ideas on when we might get it?...any one?........eeerrrr...how about an ftp site address for a beta bios? anyone?..speak up I can't hear you back there........

  • RAID disk not seen from WInPE boot

    Dear all,
We have a system with 3ware raid controler card configure as RAID1.
We are trying to build a standard Windows server 2008 image that can be installed in any System, by providing a system dependant unattend.xml file.
As a test first I have generate an unattend.xml file using WAIK. Then I have generate a WinPe boot disk.
When generating the WinPE boot disk, I have follow this procedure in order to add to WinPE boot my Raid controler driver:
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2349-guide-adding-drivers-to-a-custom-winpe-30/
The problem I have when booting from WinPe and listing volumes from DISKPART is that I cannot see my Disk mounted as RAID 1.
Any idea what can be wrong ?
    regards

Your knowledge is enhanced by that of others.

    Hi Serge,
Can you please post how did you resolve the issue? I am having similar issue here & I am unable to see the Disk Drives in WinPE 3.0. I have 2 3TB Hard Disk Drives connected & it needs Intel RAID drivers to load to see the drives in DISKPART "List
Disk" command. I used drvload.exe & it shows success but actually it didn't load the drivers & I am unable to see the drives.
But interestingly I am able to load the RAID drivers manually in Windows 7 Setup screen.
Please help me to load the drivers in WinPE.
    Thanks,

  • My brother used his Verizon Wireless SIM to activate my factory unlocked iphone 5s.  Now, I can't access the cellular data network option to change APN settings for my new carrier.  Already tried configuration utility and factory resets.

So as the title says, after I got my iPhone 5s from apple, factory unlocked, my brother used his sim card in it for a moment to allow it to be registered and usable on WIFI until I made it to Japan.  Now that I have a data SIM card, I have to input specific APN settings, which are located in settings>cellular>cellular data network, however, cellular data network is not available as an option. I have reset the phone multiple times with and without backups and with and without the new sim in the phone.  I have also used the configuration utility to try to put the APN settings in the phone.  I contacted Apple and they didn't really have an answer as to what i should do.  My brother checked his Verizon account and my phone does not show up as one of his devices, so right now I'm stuck with and incredibly expensive iPod.  Does anyone have any idea what I can do to remedy this?  I am unable to contact Verizon via telephone myself as I have no phone service.  Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
