My older version of ipod shuffle is not recognized in Mac

Is this the first time you are trying to connect this iPod Shuffle to this Mac? Is the Mac running the latest version of iTunes (which is 10.6.3 at the time of this writing)?
Make sure that the connections on each end with the Shuffle and the connection to the Mac's USB port are nice and snug. If nothing else try another USB port.
It wouldn't hurt to also reset the Shuffle with it still connected to your Mac.

Sun Studio (12,1) is unable to find a supported version of the Netbeans IDE

We're working on upgrading both the hardware and software on our application currently, and part of this involves upgrading our compiler to Sun Studio 12.1. I downloaded
SunStudio12u1-SunOS-SPARC-pkgs-ML.tar.bz2
from the Sun website and we installed it into the following location on our server:
/opt/compiler/sunstudio12.1
I successfully compiled all my code using the compiler, however, when I try to launch the debugger by typing ./sunstudio in the 'bin' directory, I get the following error:

Sun Studio is unable to find a supported version of the NetBeans IDE.
Sun Studio requires a NetBeans IDE version 6.5.1 with NetBeans C/C++ module (cnd
2) enabled.
Sun Studio looks for a valid NetBeans IDE installation in the following order:
1) Location specified with --netbeanshome command line option
2) At /opt/compiler/sunstudio12.1/netbeans
I have seen references to executing 'prepare_system' on forums while I was trying to investigate this, but when our sys admin folks try to execute the command, it does not work (command not found). They've mentioned that they expected a prepare_system script in the directory where we untarred the downloaded sun studio tarfile, but it is not there:

I can see a netbeans directory was created as part of the install, but I'm not sure why sun studio thinks netbeans is not available (afraid my knowledge about netbeans is practically non existent):

Any advice appreciated on how to get the debugger working. Ideally, I'd prefer not to uninstall / reinstall if at all possible as we're about to start system testing our executables, and I think a reinstall would require more unit teting and delays to our project (yikes!). First off - thanks for the response. I do have some follow up questions if you don't mind though:
1. When you say the install is corrupted, do you suspect
- the file I downloaded from the website either was corrupted, or was not the correct file for my platform
- the procedure used to install the software was incorrect
- something else
2. Is there a logfile that the sun studio install creates which would indicate an error during the installation procedure? I'm sure our admins who performed the install would have shouted if an error was logged... but on the offchance that the installation does not 'shout loudly' for some errors, I'd like to see a log of the error. At a minimum, I'd expect it to say why the install failed, and what we need to modify to ensure a successful install next time 'round.
3. I successfully compiled my code using the C compiler from the install. My unit tests also look good... does this suggest that the install was at least a partial success, and would you suspect that my recompiled executables are reliable, despite the fact that I cannot launch the IDE?
4. Today, one of our admins telnetted to our unix server - not via exceed by the way, but he did try the following test:
- set his display env variable (he knew he would not get a display however)
- executed the sunstudio script
He did not get the netbeans error, and the process appeared to be running (as I mentioned, without a display) until he killed it. I've asked if they can repeat the test using an exceed session. I thought there may be something on his $PATH that I did not have - unfortunately this was not the case (although, he may have access as 'root' to something that I require to launch the IDE). My question is, would you expect this behaviour if the install was corrupted?

Unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes in iPod sync to iTunes 11.0

Hi,
I have a few podcasts in my iTunes where I have saved a large number of episodes. Now I have upgraded to the new version of iTunes I unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes from iPod syncing - the finder window won't scroll to the bottom of the list, and just 'bounces' after scrolling past a certain number!
Not sure if this is a bug, or I'm overlooking something.

I have the same problem. Scrolling does not work in the iPod podcast list panel, but it works in every other panel or window in iTunes...

Does the Shuffle appear ini Tunes at all? If not try using a different USB port and double checking to make sure the other end of the syncing cable is firmly seated in the Shuffle.

I'm following the system install instructions in the Grid Compute Utility guide, Appendix A "Building a Local Development Environment" and am getting stuck on step 4, installing sunstudio. I'm running Solaris 5.10 on x86 and can run netbeans IDE without problem. Here is some info, I'm not sure what other system info is relevant:

Did you install NetBeans separately or let Sun Studio installer do it? The latter usually results in working configuration.
I think that NetBeans installation simply doesn't have c++ pack; you can install one following usual NetBeans modules installation path and then re-try starting Sun Studio.
Another option is to uninstall NetBeans and re-install Sun Studio using its installer, which should set up NetBeans properly.

Unable to upload new version after downloading noticed mac not compatible, can I get older version I have 10.4.11

Tried to upload Fire Fox 5. When I tried replace the icon has a circle with a line through it. After looking into it further I noticed my system is not compatible. I only have mac 10.4.11. Is there a way to get an older version again. I really like Fire Fox.

It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
It should work with a Windows formatted iPod because Macs can read and write to FAT32 formatted drives.
Once the songs are safely on the Mac, if are no longer going to use the iPod on a Windows PC you can reformat the iPod for Mac use by restoring it.

Complete malfunction of the ipod shuffle - detected as flash disk but ...

ipod shuffle death: recently i deleted all the songs on my ipod shuffle and itunes froze and wouldnt respond. The next time i plugged it into the comp itunes doesnt recognise it, the computer sees it as a flash disk but thats it. so i go to click on it and 'My Computer' just freezes up and doesnt respond. so all in all its not working. is it unfixable?

MAc Pro unable to detect the AE

I am using the TP-Link wireless router 108M which I am trying to join this network with my newly bought Airport Express. The AE is working fine with Green light showing and Airport Utility confirm it is normal. The only issue is that I cannot locate the AE network from the detected wireless network list. My current TP-link network is still shows as the selected network. Is this correct? Or it show show the Airport Express network device name given during the set up.

I am not sure if the AE network is connected.
As I said, if you configured the AirPort Express to "join" your wireless network, it is a client, just like a computer. The Express does not produce a wireless network, it's on the network that your router is producing. If the Express shows up in AirPort Utility when your computer is logged onto the TP Network, it has joined the network successfully.

No, the AirPort Express does not produce a wireless network when it is configured to join another network.
I connect the speaker to the AE and the menu bar is not show in the Itune
You'll connect the AirPort Express to +powered speakers+ (they must have amplifiers built in or you can use an outboard audio amplifier connected to regular speakers)

I have the iBook G4... with Mac OS 10.4... I need to update my iTunes to at least the 7.0 version in order to use my iPod with my iTunes... I've only been able to find the newest version of iTunes for download and my OS is too old to work with the iTunes 9 version.... hope someone can help as I can't do much with my iPod without iTunes!!

What's the best Mac app to copy movies from a DVD to the iPod Touch?

So let's say i have a DVD and i want to make a copy of it and use an app to transfer it to my iPod Touch, what's the best way of doing this?
I heard of Handbrake and Videora, are they any good?

I use DVD decrypter in rip my DVD's to .vob, which is the same format the movie is on the disk
and then use Videora to convert to .mp4 with ipod touch codecs and high resolution
most end up being 900MB to 1.5GB
