    a lot of people have posted about this and i have seen one weird thing fix this. people said they where going into date and time under settings and changing  the date to some time in the future and then going to the itunes store and it would give them an error that there date and time was wrong. then all you need to do is go back and set the date and time right and go back to the itunes store and try again.
    Im not sure why this did the trick but a bunch of people said that this helped them out..... Weird i know

    Sorry, yes iTunes on your computer.
    When I updated my iPad 3 and iPod Touch 4th generation to iOS 6 a few months back, I was able to update the iPad effortlessly over WiFi. but I kept getting error messages when trying to update the iPod over WiFi, so I used iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
    Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update
    If you are using iTunes 11, go to View>Show Sidebar at the top - so the sidebar is visible.

    IOS 6 WIFI FIX FOR NOW!!!!!
    The only quick fix for now is to reset your Network
    Setting/General/Reset/Reset Nettwork Settings
    Make sure you copy your password somewhere. I did so on  Notes so that i could copy and paste.
    This will work for a while but the problem keeps coming back in a day or so but at least its a quick fix.
    I have the problem on both my Iphone and Ipad 3 with IOS 6
    The only other permanent fix is to go back to IOS 5 which I had back when I tried IOS 6 bata and had the same problem which I thought Applw would have Fixed.
    Apple better get there act together or Android is going to Kick there *** SOON!

    yet again I have had to upgrade my itunes to a newer version and it has completely killed my connection to itunes store. I have tried everything, reinstalling, switching off my antivirus, switching off my firewall, replacing the host file it goes on and on. The only thing I have not tried is to delete everyhting I can find with the name itunes in it as I don't want to mess up my playlists etc.. Can anyone suggest anything?

    I read on another discussion that apple are aware of the problem and working on a fix. I'm fed up with itunes I constantly have issues with it and it's not just me nearly everyone I speak to says exactly the same. Does anyone know of a decent alternative to it??

    it is not a firewall problem, i checked it and itunes is on the list of permitted things. my connection to the internet is strong and working. i ran the diagnostic test and it said the problem is "secure link to itunes store failed". should know that last night i had to recover everything on the computer after a faulty download and i had to re-install itunes.

    Which firewall? Have you seen the many posts just from Norton users alone who had itunes listed, so it looked ok.....but after they took itunes out of Norton and re-added itunes & ituneshelper, could connect?
    The Windows firewall certainly recognizes new versions of iTunes, but the other ones don't seem to.

    this will sound odd... but make sure your time zone is set correctly.... SETTING, GENERAL, DATE & TIME and make sure SET AUTOMATICALLY is turned ON... i had a similar problem and this fixed it.... good luck

  • TS1424 cannot connect to itunes store

    As of this morning (Thursday, November 15, 2012), neither my iPhone4S nor my iPad2 (both running latest OS scrupulously maintained) can connect to the iTunes store. They were able to download updates yesterday. I'm not sure I understand how they may detect that updates are available without being to connect. Nor do I understand how they may be able to display "purchased apps which are not downloaded", featured apps, and all the rest. Attempted download of updates fails with "Cannot connect to iTunes store." The "help" files on the Apple website are particularly not helpful on this issue. The devices are fully functional, including having access to the internet and being fully powered, in all other respects. I'm at a loss for a solution.

    I tried on my MBP and got a 500. This is a "server error", not client side. So it really irks me that Apple nowhere in the help files (that I saw) mentions the "remote" possibility that it's the fault of *their* server(s) instead of the client machine. I reckon I'll sit tight and try again later.

    Ok, I found a solution that worked for me when trying to connect to the iTunes store by tapping the "update" button in the "App Store" app on my iPad 2. Before the solution was implemented I'd always get the error message "cannot connect to iTunes store". Once the solution was implemented I now can connect to iTunes using the "update" button in the "App Store" app and I get the normal message "All apps are up to date". The solution is this:  go into Settings, then General, then scroll to the bottom where it says Date and Time. Tap Date and Time and then turn OFF Set Automatically. When you do that a new option will be added that says Set Date and Time. Tap it. You'll now get a drop down feature. Set the Date AHEAD 2 YEARS. The Time you can leave alone.
    Once you do that you might get a bunch of reminders and messages that your apps and stuff haven't been updated in two years. Click cancel or close on each of those messages or reminders. Now go back into Settings, General, Date and Time, and turn Set Automatically back to ON. Reboot your iPad. Open the App Store app again and go to the Update button. It might ask you to log back in to your iTunes account. It should now work. If not, close the App Store app completely and open again and try the update button. Hope this helps.
