TS1424 I downloaded a song and it only plays 16 seconds of the 3:29 minutes!

what gives? I downloaded MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER by THE BEATLES and it only plays the first 16 seconds and then skips to the next song!

Try deleting the song from iTunes (allow iTunes to move the track file to the trash) and then re-downloading it via this procedure:

If the track still doesn't work, notify the iTunes Store about the problem:

    You can delete the song in iTunes and download it again for free if purchased from iTunes.  The instructions for this are below. 
    To delete an item from your library:
    Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
    Click Remove.
    Do one of the following:
    To remove the item only from your iTunes library, click Keep File.
    To delete the item from your computer, click Move to Recycle Bin. The item is deleted the next time you empty the Recycle Bin.

    If the tracks that do not play fully also fail to sync with your portable devices, then you probably had an error in downloading these tracks.  To solve this problem:
    1. Delete the problem tracks from your library and hard disk. 
    2. Go to the Home screen of the iTunes Store. 
    3. Click "Purchased" under "Quick Links."
    4. Click the "Not on This Computer" button.
    5. Find your album with the missing tracks and download again.

    Either this needs to get fixed or i will request my money back because i will not work for my money while other lie about what i spend it on.

    Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
    You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

    I just downloaded 11 songs and 4 don't work.  3 only play a few seconds and 1 doesn't do anything.  I'm afraid to delete them though, but they're still on file somewhere I guess then, right?
    Well, I just deleted them but when I go back to my purchases it still shows the "Downloaded" button that I can't click on.
    This is really aggravating.  Am I just not doing something right?  It doesn't help that I'm very tired lol.

    Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a couple of weeks or so.

    Will the media file play with Quicktime Player? If it will then it's an iTunes issue. If it won't then you need to delete the file and download it a second time.
