You should provide the Apple ID you are attempting to set up your account with and the complete text of any and all error messages you may be receiving.

Try popping out the SIM card and turn off the phone.
Pop in the SIM card once again and turn on the phone, make sure that the SIM card is placed and seated perfectly in the tray!
Tell me how did you unlock your phone!?

Garageband was not able to install the new sounds

I'm on an iMac 21.5-inch (mid 2011) running Yosemite; 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5; 4GB memory.
A few months ago, I uninstalled GarageBand. Now I'm trying to reinstall it. I can get GarageBand 6 reinstalled, but I would like to get working with the latest version. I'm able to download the latest version from the App Store with no issue. It installs with no issue.
When I open it, it thanks for me downloading it, and then begins to download "an essential collection of sounds and loops." After a bit of downloading, it asks for my admin password; I enter it, and a few seconds later, it gives the error: "GarageBand was not able to install the new sounds. Close and re-open GarageBand to download and install them again." Closing and reopening GarageBand just takes me through the same loop (no pun intended). When the window is open, if I click on the GarageBand menu in the Apple bar, nothing happens.
It does not ask me to accept anything; I am signed into the App Store with the same Apple ID I have always used (it is the only one I have ever had, so that's not the issue). I am an admin on my Mac, so it's not a permissions issue. It's not a password issue either.
Things I have tried:
Rebooting into Safe Boot and opening from there; same issue.
Repaired permissions (it fixed oodles of things completely unrelated to GarageBand); same issue.
Creating a new admin profile and opening from there; it gives a different error, but the effect is the same.
Removed the program, trashed anything remotely related to GarageBand (preferences, folders, etc), emptied the trash, restarted the computer, reinstalled; same issue.
Installed GarageBand on top of itself, just in case; same issue.
I can't think of what else to try. Help!

The solution Lijoesat posted above worked for me!
First I found the private/var/folders/ (and then lots of gibberish folders) and singled out two garageband files and deleted them. This did not work.
I then deleted everything which may or may not be a good thing, I am an idiot, I have no idea if these are extremely important files or not!
I tried to empty the trash bin after but many files was locked and Garageband would still not install.
I did a restart of the computer, emptied the bin successfully and tried to install Garageband again and it worked fine!
The inserted picture show some of the folder structure, I deleted everything after private/var/folders/

I have a OSX IMAC Version 10.8.5. I got pages at the same time I purchased this computer. I use a document to write all my passwords. Seems like when I E-mail myself the document from pages, I have not been able to type in the document, it acts like it is locked. I checked all the "lock" and "unlock" fields, and none of them were locked. I notice the document says PDF. How do I correct this? Seems like I've tried everything. I just purchased GarageBand 10.0.3 last week and I repeatedly keep getting the following message when I try to download ANY of the FREE Piano lessons in the "Lesson Store", "Garageband was not able to install the new sounds. If I'd known I would encounter this issue, I would not have paid for this. Tried restarting, rebooting, reinstalling, deleting the cache, and on the verge of just reinstalling the OS. Immargarita, Since you just purchased the software you qualify for a no charge one on one at an Apple store. They never could tell me what was wrong, but after three visits and not one dime, all lessons downloaded at the store. I was not going home until it worked.
Hint, hint, I had just upgraded OX when the problem started. So... I qualified for tech support. I forgot to get my none working since the up grade Photoshop fixed. Some Java component can't be found and just like GB, the link to Apple for support does not work. I have the good old PS disc. I'm not happy with this cloud stuff.
When you call and give the SN for your computer, they may say it will cost $29.00 dollars for one time support. Instead choose a different prompt, tell the human being what your problem is and set up a visit to the Apple store. BTW, no one at the store seemed to have heard of this issue.
The techie just started the download and ran the activity monitor. The download stopped once. Then he continued it and everything is there now.
Shame on you Apple.

How do I get a refund for iMatch? It was not able to upload a single song without force close/ "iTunes quit unexpectedly"

I subscribed to iTunes iMatch and when I attempted to add my computer and upload my songs it instantly crashed iTunes. This has occured every time. I am perfectly pleased with the way things were and just wanted to try iMatch... now I just want to know how to get a refund from apple since I was not able to upload a single song.

Not able to activate unlocked new 4S

Hi,
Got a Factory unlocked iphone 4S, and i am unable to activate it either through WiFi or PC. iTunes version is 10.5.3. In all cases it reaches a point and says please insert a SIM, even when i have a Vodafone microsim inside it. While trying via WiFi, there is a message that says "it wll take 3 minutes to activate your iPhone", then quickly a popup says "Insert a valid SIM card". Now i am confiused if this is really an unlocked phone. The box did not have any marking on any phone service provider.
At all times the top left portion just says "NO SIM".
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.it was a gift, originally purchased from an Apple store in Canada, will try to get the bill details. Meanwhile I entered the iPhone serial number on the Apple on-line service website, that showed that this phone is supported on 4 carriers AT&T',Sprint, C Spire & Verizon.
Can one device be locked to 4 different service carriers at the same time ?

New iPhone will not connect to iTunes Store. Not able to activate

I bought my iPhone 3 weeks ago from an AT&T store and use it everyday. It works fine. I bought one for my wife 2 days ago from the same AT&T store and it does not work. After spending 2 + hours on the phone with Apple level 1 and 2 support, the final diagnosis is a bad sim card. (Apple phone support was very good and very professional) They are in process of sending me a box to mail the iPhone in for service and I am confidant they will fix the problem. I am disappointed, however, the iPhone did not work out of the box and I now have to wait for service on a brand new iPhone.
Has anyone experienced the following problem?
When connected to iTunes, the iPhone is not able to connect to the iTunes store and I receive the following error message, "We could not complete your iTunes request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active." I was not able to activate it.
The iPhone screen itself shows the iTunes logo and the sync connector. iTunes does not give me the ability to activate the phone nor make any changes to it. iPhone shows up in the device listing, but that is it. There are no settings in iTunes for making changes or setting up the new phone.
When I plug my iPhone into the computer, everything works fine. The new iPhone does not. I tried everything Apple recommended including: Resetting the phone and deleting / reinstalling iTunes, but nothing worked. So, here I am waiting for service on a brand new iPhone that I have paid for and am paying for monthly service, but cannot use. Kind of stinks...
Anyone have a similar problem?
