TS1424 ipad: Rental movie downloaded 98%.. "unable to download movie" error

Good Afternoon,
I purchased a rental movie to watch on a plane ride today.  Unfortunately the movie hadn't finished downloading before I left the house.  I've tried 3 or 4 different internet connections (including verified very fast connections at the hotel and starbucks) and I get the "unable to download movie" error.
I can't find a way to delete the rental to try and start the download over, nor does syncing help.  Please assist!
thank you,

Move movie from iTune to iPad

I changed to ipad air 2 and am unable to download books from overdrive. I am connected to wifi and have tried every option on the overdrive site. It closes everytime I try to download a file.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, restart your internet modem and router then try downloading books.

  • HT201318 I purchased more storage, and it shows on my iPad. However I am unable to download movies I purchased. Help?

I purchased additional storage on my iPad 2 and it shows that I now have it, however I am not able to download new movies.  Help?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Movies are saved on your iPad storage, not iCloud, so you won't be able to download the movie if you haven't got enough space on your device. Open Settings > General > Usage, and delete things from your device. Contact with Apple if you want to get a refund > http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact

  • Paying for iTunes Movies I was unable to download completly

The movie from the iTunes Store that I tried to download To my iPad didn't completely download. I was unable to watch it. Why am I still being charged for it?

If your country permits re-downloading delete the movie and re-download it.

  • IPad 2 iOS 8.1 unable to download app updates

I am unable to update any apps after 'upgrading' to 8.1 on my iPad 2.  While the performance is a little better than 8.0.2, I can't download any apps.  Anyone have a solution?

  • I cannot dowload any apps to my new iPad, it says it is unable to download

I cannot download any apps to my new ipad. the apps show up in the cloud but they will not download.

Make sure you have enough free space. You'll need two to three times the size of the app for it to be able to unpack its files and install.

  • Using Apple TV. I can watch a movie preview but unable to watch movie because DCP compatible. Why?

I can watch the preview but says can't purchase the movie because it is not HDCP compatible. Why?

Apple are not here, only fellow users. It's not Apple's choice as to what films are available for rent, it's the film studios that specify which countries Apple can have their films available for sale and/or rental and in what format (HD and/or SD).

  • All Downloads Say "Unable to Download Application"

I know what that means, of course. However, the iPhone proceeds to download the app, and it works fine. However, if I go to my iTunes, I see that the "downloads" option has also popped up, and those apps that I've just downloaded appear here.
The apps are downloading in two places. I've synced my iPhone, turned it off and back on, yet still, this error pops up for whatever app I decide to "test" to see if the error still occurs. It's more annoying and a hassle than a problem, but I just can't see why it would even do this.
Another symptom seems to be that the iPhone never even asks me for my password before downloading anything anymore - it just goes right ahead and downloads it - which has never happened before. Any ideas?

Furthermore these things won't leave my downloads list. They've downloaded about 7 times now, and I'm not exaggerating. They won't go away, no matter how I try to clear them.
I've restored the iPhone now. To earlier today, which didn't solve anything - as soon as I used the apps store it asked for my passoword and instantly engaged in a few downloads that wouldn't proceed past "paused" status - and once just a few minutes ago to an even further restore point which didn't do any good either.

  • Unable to download folio

Since installing iOS8 on iPad Air, I have been unable to download Consumer Reports magazine. Every other subscription works (though all had their apps updated to allow this). The error is 'index.html - Unable to download folio'. I am told this four times (to ensure understanding presumably). I have restarted, reinstalled and reset settings all to no avail. Any ideas?

This issue resolved for me by the update of the Newsstand application by the supplier. Everything works now.

  • "unable to download" message

    Dear All
i want to Distributing Enterprise Apps for IPAD Wirelessly but we get “unable to download” message
iam using the help link :  http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#featuredarticles/FA_Wireless_Enterprise_ App_Distribution/Introduction/Introduction.html
and i check for these Troubleshooting Wireless App Distribution
If wireless app distribution fails with an “unable to download” message, check the following:
Make sure the app is signed correctly. Test it by installing it on a device using iPhone Configuration Utility.
Make sure the URL to the app (.ipa) file (in the manifest file) is correct and the app file is accessible to web users.
Make sure the link to the manifest file is correct and that the manifest file is accessible to web users.
but still the same error can any one help me ?

That seems like an unusual issue.  I would make sure you update to iOS 4.3.5, hopefully if your devices are on the latest build they will take the apps.  Otherwise it sounds like an issue with your digital certificate, and I would try to create a new certificate through apple.

  • I have a receipt for a rented movie but can't find the movie in iTunes or on Video app.

I have a receipt for a rented movie but can't find the movie in iTunes or on Video app. Shouldn't it show in my movie file on iTunes or Video app on iPad?

If you rented it on your iPad then it should have downloaded into its Videos app - if it hasn't completed downloading then it might still show in the iTunes app in a Downloads tab in it (Downloads only shows if there are downloads happening), the iTunes app on your iPad is just the store.
If it doesn't show in Videos then does it show via the iPad's spotlight search screen : pull down the centre of the homescreen (not from the very top of the screen, that will open Notification Centre) ?
If you rented it on your computer's iTunes then you will have to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and use its Movies tab to move it over to the iPad - rentals are a one-time only download, so won't show on your iPad for redownloading.
If you can't find it on the device/computer that you rented it on then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

So I need help on what to do to download it on my computer so I can watch it any suggestions?  Thanks.

Because rented movies from the iTunes Store are normally a one-time download per rental, and if that download was to an iOS device, they can't be transferred to any other device.
Does that hold in the other sense as well? A rental on the computer is non-transferrable to the iGadget?

  • Unable to download my movie rental. How do I get reimbursed?

Hi, I downloaded a movie on iTunes for rental and was unable to properly download due to slow performance of my Apple TV box. How would I go about getting reimbursed or at least a credit of the same movie. I will not download any more movies till this issue is resolved by apple and the blogs show otherwise.

You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes.  When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6
