TS1424 new app purchase on iphone - should it also be on ipad?

I purchased an app which includes a book.  I did this on my iphone thinking it would sync across devices but it doesn't.  My iPad has an icon for that app but it lists the book still as a sample and there is a place I could purchase the book again.  Both the iphone and the iPad are linked to only one apply account.  I'm unsure if this is an Apple question or support for maker of the app.

    Sounds like you did not set back as new, or if you did you reset the iPad with your Apple Id again.
    If it had been reset back as new it would have stayed at the Begin Setup screen, and you wouldn't have been able to see any Apps being downloaded, as you wouldn't have acccess to the Home Screen yet.
    Follow Diavonex's post to restore the iPAd back to factory defaults, and that's it. It should be back to the Setup screen, without any Apple Id associated with it, and no Home screen visible.

    OK, thanks. I really didn't know that. However, I have solved the problem of how to get the app I just purchased onto my iPhone. It turns out that when you go to buy it again, on the iPhone, you get a message saying you have already purchased that item, and asking if you want to download it again. So, I am able to get that app on my iPhone without purchasing it again. Now I will go through the apps I got from my daughter and see if I want them and when I get that figured out, I will sync, which will erase the ones she gave me, and then I'll purchase the ones I really want. Thanks for your help.

    Common on jailbroken iPhones, not so on non-jailbroken iPhones. Thus, if your phone is not jailbroken, restoring from backup will hopefully fix the issue.

    Any restrictions set up in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again.
    Are you logged into the AppStore with the correct and same Apple ID that has been used to set up the phone? If yes, log out of the AppStore in Settings/iTunes & AppStore, reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again, then log into the AppStore.
    You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches as well.

    I have been using VPP Managed Distrubuition and Profile Manager without issue since December then out of the blue new any app purchases never appear in Profile Manager under the App tab. Includes both paid and free apps and they are in the Purchase History of my Program Facilitator account. Nothing has changed at the server setup that I'm aware of and I'm not really sure where to go now as emailing VPP support resulted in a reply that they can't offer advice on Profile Manager and I need to speak to Enterprise support. I think my VPP token is broken.
    I have turned Profile Manager off and back on, removed the token and redownloaded and applied it again and performed another purchase and still nothing is showing that has been purchased since Febuary. Have also turned the Push Notifications off and back on. The 80 odd apps purchased before Feb continue to work as expected and I can assign them to users, remove users from the program and retrieve the licence etc.
    As a last ditch I updated the OS to 10.9.2 along with the corisponding Server App version yesterday but this has had no effect.
    Greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

    Can do however won't that clear all my App assignments in Profilemanager and Managed Profile Settings? The MDM functions of Porfile Manager are working fine. Just can't see new App purchases.
    I tested again yesterday and purchased 5 new distrubuited licences of Edmodo and Micosoft Word. Neither display to assign to users.
    Have 73 existing purchases made before March showing still and I can assigned them to users who have enrolled. I can also continue to enroll new users.

    In addition to the very sound and useful information posted by Lawrence Finch, there is also a way to save the photos from the photo stream to the camera roll on the iPad so that even if the photo stream is turned off, the photos will remain on the iPad.
    Launch the photos app and them open the Photo Stream album. Select every photo that you want to save by tapping on them, then tap in the action/sharing icon and select  - Save to Camera Roll.
    Having said that, the information that Lawrence shared with you is very important and the instructions in both articles are very useful. Make use of them.

    Purchased new apps on ipad.  Purchases did not synch with iphone 4.  Purchases are listed in my itunes account and on my ipad, however, they are mot listed as purchased on iphone 4s.  this is a new problem.  I did not have any probelms in the past wit apps synching with iphone 4.

    It does, but I use the SoundNote App because it records audio and allows me to draw diagrams in the document. Any thoughts on syncing the SoundNote files to the mini? I am sure it can be done with a wire, but I have a disability which makes it difficult to plug and unplug cords, so the more I can do wirelessly or through the Cloud the better. Thanks for your help!   • How can I transfer new apps from my iphone without replacing apps I don't want?

    When you sync your iPhone you sometimes get the following message:
    Itunes has found purchased items on the iphone thats arenot present in your itunes library.
    There are two reasons for this:
    1. I have deleted apps in iTunes that I don't want, but not on the iPhone. I don't want to transfer the apps back to iTunes because I want them gone.
    2. I have bought apps on the iPhone that I do want to keep. I want these transferred to iTunes.
    So if I have both types 1 and 2 then there is no good answer. Preferably iTunes should offer to sync and choose which apps to transfer and what not to transfer. Is there a way to change this behaviour? By the time I sync I don't know what I've done so I'm usually not sure how to answer the question. Sometimes I like to bulk delete apps in iTunes--it is easier than doing it on the iPhone.

  • IWork re-downloading with any new app purchase?

    Hi,
    I'm working with a number of iPad airs in a school environment.
    I've downloaded the free Apple range of apps and they were all functional.
    However, once I purchase or download a new app Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie and iPhoto all begin to download again from the very start.
    It does this every time I start to download a new app (EDIT: possibly only with downloading apps using redemption codes).
    This is happening on every one of 140 iPads, with their iOS fully upgraded.
    I've tried switching it on and off in between downloading the Apple suite and other apps, but it has made no difference.
    Any ideas as to what might be going on?

    For the record, this still appears to be an issue; came to the community to ask a very similar question. Not all my iWork apps require re-installation every time, but Numbers is 100% consistent (and often insists it needs to be re-installed even outside of other app downloads). The other big offender, though not nearly as constant, has been iMovie. Updated to the latest versions of all, including iOS 8; deleted and re-installed Numbers and iMovie, and the problem persists. This is on an iPhone 6 Plus. If there's any way to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
