Download time seems to be taking forever. Any suggestions?

Attachments taking a long time to download

Hi, I wonder if anyone is experiencing the same problem. I've just got my iphone 4 and have noticed that when I download an attachment in mail it seems to be taking a long time to download. This is compared to my old 3g which downloaded them ten times faster when connected to my wi-fi. (granted, before i updated it to 4.0)!! Does anyone have a fix for this? Safari is fast compared to my 3g.

Why is my new iPad 3(32gb) taking a long time to download apps, much longer than my iPhone.

My new iPad3 with wifi- is taking a really long time to download,much longer than my iPhone. Does anyone know what I can do?
Or is that just normal.

I'm downloading OS 10.9 and it seems to be taking a very long time, nothing tells me that anything is happening. Is this how it works?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and do not speak for "Apple Inc."
These are very large downloads.
If you're on OS X 10.8 there will be a tiny 'progress bar' below the Downloads folder on your Desktop.
Safari in OS X 10.6 has a separate Downloads window that opens to show progress of file downloads in bytes transferred.
The full OS X 10.9 Mavericks download is 5.3 gigabytes. That's huge.
If you're already running Mavericks, the latest 10.9.2 Update Combo is nearly 900 megabytes.

Depending upon your internet connection speed, it may take several hours or longer to download.
My internet connection speed is 20Mb/sec maximum under ideal conditions, or about 150 megabytes per minute. At that constant rate, it would take me at least 33 minutes to download the full Mavericks system, and about 6 minutes to download the update.
A 2Mb/sec that would be at least 330 minutes, or six and one half hours.
A 1Mb/sec connection speed doubles that time to 13 hours.

Apple TV taking a long time to download an iTunes Store movie rental

Normally when we rent a movie from the iTunes Store via Apple TV we're able to start watching it within a few minutes. We just rented one, however, and the downloading process is going super slow. It's been downloading for at least 10 minutes, it's just 22 percent done, and AppleTV is saying that we won't be able to start watching it for another 35 minutes.
Our Internet seems to be working fine and at normal speeds otherwise though.
Any idea why the Apple TV is taking so long to download this movie rental?

The movie was Hi-def, lineout, but they almost always are and we've never had it take so long--it would have been faster for me to drive out to the local video store and pick up a DVD.

How big is "rather large" to you?? If you don't like non-specifity by others, don't do the same yourself.
If Apple listed the filesize of the download or something meaningful, we could all determine how long is reasonable for our internet connections, which we know despite the lack of capabilities from Apple in helping that regard as well!

Lessons taking a long time to download. How do I cancel?

I have been trying to download about 6 lessons on Garageband, but they are taking forever to download.
My internet connection is fine and there are no issues with that.
So how can I cancel these downloads?

OSX Mountain Lion taking a long time to download

I already purchased Mountain Lion and it downloaded fine on my iMac. Now I'm trying to downlad it on my Mac Book Pro and it won't download. It says downloading but it's not moving. Anyone else have this problem?

Taking a Long Time To Download

I have been having a problem with downloading purchased songs for around two months. When I purchase songs I have no problems with my account and receive no error messages but the striped downloading bar keeps going into infinity and I can only stop this by turning my computer off. I have tried turning off the firewall and that doesn't seem to help and have spent hours changing my security settings which also doesn't help. On Tuesday I even tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it but am still having the same problem. This problem literally occured overnight and I cannot seem to find any solutions.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I am downloading lion from the app store and the downloading is taking a long time. also my internet stopped for a few minutes. will that affect the download content.

i have done an online payment for the new mac os. and the downloading is taking a long time . why is it so. its been more than half a day.
also my internet was down for a couple of minutes and so does this affect the integrity of the software and would it be corrupted.
if the software is downloaded is corrupt will i be able to retrieve another copy or have i lost my money in thos.

My download took about 4 hours on a 6 Mbps connection, and I noticed from the winking router light that it paused from time-to-time. The download was successful. It operated perfectly, probably because I did a clean installation rather than the simpler upgrade.

Report script taking very long time to export in ASO

Hi All,
My report script is taking very long time to execute and finally a message appears as timed out.
I'm working on ASO Cubes and there are 14 dimensions for which i need to export all data for all the dimensions for only one version.
The data is very huge and the member count in each dimension is also huge, so which is making me difficult to export the data.
Any suggestions??

Here is a link that addresses several ways to optimize your report script. I utilize report scripts for Level 0 exports in an ASO environment as well, however the majority of our dimemsions are attribute dimensions.
These are the most effective solutions we have implemented to improve our exports via report scripts:
1. Make sure your report script is written in the order of how the Report Extractor retrieves data.
2. Supressing Zero and Missing Data
3. We use the LINK command within reports for some dimensions that are really big and pull at Level 0
4. Using Symmetric reports.
5. Breakout the exports in multiple reports.
However, you may also consider some additional solutions outlined in this link:

It depends on your download speed. It is over 4GB so it can take a few hours, sometimes more. How long has it been going for now?

Update of latest ios taking a long time

I have the first ipad and am doing the update to the latest ios version through a PC. I am trying to install the download; however, it is taking a long time (more than an hour) and seems to be stuck on the backing up stage. I'm afraid to stop it because it took me five times already just to download the update (over an hour long each) before I realized that I needed to turn off my antivirus to have it download successfully. Now that it's stuck trying to do the actual update, do I try to stop it and start over or should I just let it run? Is there something else I should be turning off to have this run more quickly or successfully?

I finally decided to stop the install because it didn't appear to have any activity in the CPU. After doing this, it had trouble stopping as well and I had to force a shut down of iTunes. Then I had issues trying to rerun the install because it would tell me that it was having trouble starting a session for the backup. To resolve this, I deleted all the backups in iTunes and had to restart my iPad. After restarting, I was able to do a normal, manual backup of the iPad, so I then tried running the installation again and was successful.
