TS1424 What if I purchased files that are incomplete, even though they show that they are downloaded.
I purchased a few, rather expensive Keith Jarrett albums, only to find that they would jump to the next song without finishing on my iphone. Ditto for the files on my computer. Now what?
Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those albums and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

I backed up my iphone5 in the morning and later again on the same day, in the afternoon. I then restored an older backup from the morning. Now all my music files refuse to play even though they still appear on iphone. How can I resolve this?
Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.) -
Cannot see files in music folder even though they play in itunes
I have my entire music folder on a NAS drive (lacie 500 gb ethernet disk mini). It has been working pretty well for a few months but now I can't see most of my music files, even though they show up in iTunes, and when I do "get info" it shows the location as the NAS drive (i.e., NAS drive:music:U2:achtung baby:03 One.mp3) and it will play the song(s). However, when I go to the NAS drive and click on the music folder, I can't actually see a U2 folder. And the music folder itself only shows about 20% of my library (even though 100% of the library shows up in iTunes and does play and all my random "get info" tests show that all of the music is on my NAS drive).
It's wonderful that the music isn't actually lost, but why are most of the music files hidden and how can I see them again? I have no music files on my macbook - everything is stored off the NAS drive. I'm about to get a backup drive, but I'm concerned that it won't back up these apparently "hidden" music files. I did search for the files (i.e., any file containing "U2" on my NAS drive and it came back as 0 files found, which is really odd. I mean, if that were true, why is iTunes pointing to the NAS drive as the source of the music files?
One other clue - I tried to consolidate my music library, which is relatively small (10.29 gb) -- and after about 5 minutes, it stopped and gave me an error message.

Message was edited by: myrtlebeachI honestly don't recall. I do however recall my sense of being overwhelmed as I realized belatedly what a huge project I'd undertaken in doing a clean install. I forgot how many weeks had gone into sorting out setup and drivers and apps and shortcuts and macros and on and on and on. So I started looking for faster, easier ways to get things done. So it's quite likely I just dragged the Documents folder on over.
Assuming that's the case, what's the best correction at this point?

I keep getting this error. Yesterday as I downloaded 8 songs from iTunes store the computer paused then continued. After seeing all the songs were downloaded I tried to play some, 2 kept telling me that I had to authoriae the computer. I reauthorized the computrer only to reveive a message that the computer was authorized. I still can't play the 2 songs other than going through the authorized computer template then when I play those 2 songs I only get the preview version even though it show all songs were paid for and downloaded

Let me connect with you, so right now, the current state is that you have installed copy of PSE 8 in trial on your windows 7 machine, and when you are trying to enter the serial number from your PSE 8 Box, it is saying the serial number to be invalid?
It might sound pretty obvious, but please make sure that you are entering the serial number correctly and of PSE 8(in case you bought a PEPE box)?
Have you tried the steps mentioned below by Barbara?
If possible, you can send me the serial number through PRIVATE MESSAGE and I can check it on my end that whether the serial number is indeed invalid or that the issue is with your machine?

Prior to Family Share we had devices sharing a common account for purchases
We setup Family share an switch the App Store account on some devices to those shared accounts
Now when we try to update existing apps it refuses stating that they were purchased with a different account
Well yes they were, but it is a shared account.
Do we really need to un-install all apps, loosing any data, then reinstall using the shared account ?

Our hotel the Grand Oasis Cancun provided internet for only 36 hours and you could only use it on one device which comes to my next option as using your Laptop as a Personal Router to broadcast WiFi to any devices near your computer. Our room was on the Second level of the Pyramid at Grand Oasis and I was able to access it while at the VIP lounge below our room. Before our supposedly free internet service ended.
I attempted using the hotel next door since I was getting a good signal from the Omni Hotel. They offered complimentary 24hr internet access using your browser as a way to track your use. Once you find the signal of the Omni it will open your browser I used Google Chrome, after it opens you go threw a few simple steps and your ready.
I learned that after the 24 hours are up all you have to do is disconnect from their network, just run Ccleaner(free program) then find the Signal of the hotel and you will be given another 24 hours. What Ccleaner(<--download there) does is clears anything attached to your browser ie cookies temp files etc. it cleans your browser history giving you a way of not paying for the hotel fee of internet and giving you free WiFi. this is only if you are next to the Omni hotel :).
What you need to download to turn your computer into a hotspot need to say is this little easy to use program Virtual Router. Once it has download test at your home to make sure it works with you devices. This will work with Tablets, Phones and other computers that cant find the Omni WiFi signal. Your welcome. To use it, is simple. Open program>make a password>select WiFi and start VR. -
New or previously purchased apps won't sync even though they appear to be
When I attempt to sync a newly purchased or old app, the app icon appears on the virtual ipod screen in itunes, but then at the end of syncing and backing up, it disappears from the screen. After deleting a purchased video that, then re-downloading I now have the same exact video showing twice in iTunes & iPhone. How do I get one to go away?
Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there's enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it's running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
BTW, you haven't answered which mailbox has the problem. I could be that just rebuilding that mailbox fixes it -- you should verify/repair the disk and make a backup copy of the Mail folder first, nevertheless, though.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder. -
I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open. Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files, the error message is "could not be opened". The movie's file format isn't recognized. " Any help or are they corrupted?
Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files. -
I have an Ipad and an Ipod Touch 5th gen both on the latest firmwares but they won't connect via Bluetooth whenever I try even though both shows that the devices are discoverable. Otherwise you need an app to pair via BT one iOS device to another iOS device. There may be apps that allow pairing with a Mac computer. The iOS devioces do not have the BT profiles necessary natively to pair with a computer or another iOS device except for AirDrop -

I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there

Not all my songs are showing in itunes even though they are in the itunes Media Dir. I have spent hours trying to find out why so I moved the songs out of the Music/itunes/itunes media and uninstalled itunes. I then restarted my pc and re-installed itunes. When I opened itunes the same songs are still there (but cannot be played as cannot find location) even though I have not put anything back in the itunes media dir. To me there seems to be a refreshing problem as itunes is not looking at the directory even through the advanced preferences area is mapped to the correct area.
Help please.
ThanksApple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?
This happens with maybe 1 out of 5 files. These are files that have either an ."aa" extention, or or are libraries that icloud can see, but finder can't.Files beginning with a period are invisible and library files are system files. Spotlight cannot find either unless configured to do so (btw, this is not a Finder issue but a Spotlight issue.)
Get Spotlight to search system files (and more)
Enter the search term in the Finder window's search field.
Click the [+] button in the search bar to add a search option.
In the first drop down menu choose Other.
Choose “System Files” from the list that pops up (and check the box to place in drop down menu to avoid this step later,) click on the OK button.
Now back in the Finder choose Include from the second drop down menu. -

I realise this isn’t necessarily your problem, buy I’m having trouble converting my RAW files to jpegs.
Even though my RAW files are 90MB plus, the jpegs when converted are only around 6MB.
Am I doing something wrong?

No there's nothing wrong with the Jpegs, but I want to srart uploading images for sale in Alamy, but they say they must be a minimum of 17mb un compressed. Does that mean that at 6mb compressed from 90mb they'd be acceptable?

Why is it that some songs get listed on their own even though they are part of an album?
Why is it that some songs get listed on their own even though they are part of an album? They are always songs that I had on my computer not imported from a cd using iTunes. I have verified that all the info is correct and matches the other songs in the album. Sometimes I can check the "compilation" box on all the songs in the album and that will put them in order and in the same listing. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

What I did in this case is select all the songs in the album and select Get Info and see if Album Artist and Album and Sort Artist and Sort Album Artist and Sort Album are the same.
