For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Perhaps first try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:

  • ITunes update shows runtime error R6034/iTunes error 7/Windows error 1114. iTunes tells me to reinstall but I've uninstalled/restalled and get same error messages.

After iTunes update I see this - Runtime error R6034 "application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly".  ThenUninstalled then I also get iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes error 7 (Windows error 1114).  I've tried fixes for runtime but computer says there are no errors.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and get all the above messages.  Now when I start up my computer the runtime error pops up, but once it is closed computer works fine until I try to open iTunes.  I've even tried a system restore going back to November.  I use iTunes for audiobooks on iPod and I'm going to get desperate soon. Any suggestion?

  • My computer froze and I had no choice but to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it would no longer open iTunes. It says "error 7 (windows error 14001). iTunes said to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Windows installer won't work.

My computer froze, so I had to finally turn it off. When I turned it on again, it wouldn't open iTunes. Error7 (Windows error 14001) appeared. I could not uninstall and reinstall iTunes because now Windows Installer isn't working either. Tried using "System Restore" from a backup, but still didn't fix problem. Tried online purchase of registry cleanup ("Error End"), but that didn't solve problem either.
How can I get iTunes to open? Any suggestions for getting Windows Installer to work? Thanks!

    Hey there Px13,
It sounds like you are getting an error message after a recent iTunes update. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
It will involve uninstalling iTunes and its associated applications. The links in the article will walk you through uninstalling them all.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

This is directly from the Windows support forums for Error 126
    Method 1
Check if Windows Update Service is selected as start.
To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click on Start, Run and type the following command in the open box and click OK.
In services.msc find the Automatic Updates service and double-click on it.
    1. Click on the Log On Tab and make sure the "Local System Account" is selected as the logon account  and the box for "allow service to interact with desktop" is UNCHECKED.
    2. Under the Hardware Profile section in the Log On Tab, make sure the service is enabled.
      3. On the General Tab, the Startup Type should be Automatic, if not, drop the box down and select  Automatic.
    4. Under "Service Status" on the General tab, the service should be Started, click the Start button enable it.
Repeat the steps above for the service "Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)".
    Method 2
You may also re-register Windows Update DLLs.
To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click on Start, Run, and type CMD and click ok
2.In the black command window type the following command and press Enter
          REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL
Wait until you receive the "DllRegisterServer in WUAPI.DLL succeeded" message and click OK.

          REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL
          REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL
          REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL

  • TS1424 re installed itunes over and over and keep getting  MSVCR80.dll is missing ,, Or verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system service apple mobile device.. and thenError 7 windows error  126 what do i do?

\I have uninstalled ITunes,,and re installed it nwo prob a doz times,, If i do not get a MSVCR80.dll is missing ,, then it seems to install only to have I tunes say it was not installed correctly and error msg 7 windows error 126,,what do i do?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

    Hi there Crippsie!
If the error provided from iTunes is giving you an error code of 3001, -42110, or 5103, then you will want to see the article linked here for more information on that issue:
