TS1440 I'm trying to fix the "Blinking Grey Folder" issue, but for some reason my MBP won't accept my internet password, how do I advance past this?
I've got an early 2011 Macbook Pro running the latest OS, but this afternoon it decided to not start properly, and I was faced with the blinking folder of death. Having googled around the subject a bit, it seems the thing to do is boot and hold the option key, then do a few things to sort it if its sortable. However, its asking for my network, and the password. For some reason, it is completely rejecting the password, even though I know thats the correct one (I'm using it now for instance!).
So how do I move this forward? I'd rather not have to buy a new MBP, but its looking like it might be necessary at this stage, as I need a laptop for my work! I've tried to book into a London apple store, but there are no free slots at any of them.
If you are experiencing this in the Safe Mode, sometimes Wi-Fi won't work in the Safe Mode.

Do you have a current backup? Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then reinstall the OS.

Are you sure you have a 3GS and not a 3G? The 3G cannot be updated to iOS5. What version are you on now?... Settings > General > About > Version

I downloaded a movie last night from iTunes and it downloaded to my laptop and my phone but for some reason it now won't play on my laptop. The album artwork on my laptop has gone and it exists perfectly on my phone. What do I do?
I paid for it so I'd really like to avoid paying again just to see this movie. Is it because it's on my iPhone? Whenever I try to click on the movie to make it play it just does nothing like it's not there. The file for the movie exists within my iTunes library files but I can't seem to click and drag it into iTunes or open it with iTunes. I've ios 5.1.1 on my ios and i want to update to 6.1.2 not 6.1.3 ive downloaded the 6.1.2 file but for some reason i keep getting (3194) error.. what do I do?
You are getting the 3194 error because you cannot update to 6.1.2, since it is no longer current.
The fact that you downloaded the 6.1.2 file does not matter. If you upgrade, you must upgrade to the latest version.
I cannot imagine why you would not want to update to the current 6.1.3 version instead of 6.1.2. -
I have paid for the Mountain Lion. But for some reason, I cannot seem to download it, despite software being upgraded. Anyone facing this problem where the download does not begin? How can I solve this?
Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Try disabling anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferencs > Security & Privacy
Apps such as Little Snitch and Net Nanny can prevent apps from downloading from the App store including Mountain Lion.
Third party download managers are not compatible with the App Store.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation. -

What kind of card is it ? If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? This just started happening a few days ago. When I go to facebook the pictures are distorted and nearly impossible to discern who is in them. Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. For some reason, I cannot change my desktop background no matter how many times I delete the "active" folder. It's as if it's locked. Any ideas how I can fix it?
Yes it sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.
The setting you make in individual programs get saved to a Preference file in your Users/Library/Preferences folder.
All you have to do is drag out the old file to the desktop, reboot and load the program and the preference file gets rebuilt without your preferences which you reset.
For your case I beleive the preference file is

We own 5 Apple devices but for some reason I cannot get iTunes to recognize one of the iPads. The other 4 show up just fine and we can sync and do all the stuff we are supposed to do, but this one device is never recognized. I've tried updating the software, reinstalling iTunes, using different ports on the laptop, different cables...just about everything. I have NEVER been able to connect this one device, but all the others are fine. I'm at my wits end. Is there someone out there who can help a relative novice figure out what's going on? Thanks so much!

i just got a new apple tv but for some reason the remote only worked for about a min. and than it wount work at all. i tried to pair and unpair but nathing works but when i press a button the light on the apple tv turns off. what should i do?
Have you held the menu and left arrow together for 6 secs ? (I think you have from what you say).
Also try unpowering and restarting AppleTV.
