TS1456 HELP! Can I exit iPod in recovery mode WITHOUT RESTORING?

My iPod touch 4th gen is in recovery mode - how do i get it out WITHOUT RESTORING? Don't want to lose lecture notes n photos. (They're not backed-up, but apparently they'll not be erased by the restore. Could I still access them? The iPod shows up in iTunes but can't be used with it.
Cheers

Give TU a shot. iTools will let you access the file system and remove files legally--no jailbreak required. Control-Click on files want to download/delete.

If it's in recovery mode, your data's almost certainly gone anyway.

  • Is there a way to get iphone 4s out of recovery mode without restoring it?

i was just using my iphone 4s normally and it just froze randomly. i held down the power and home button like i usually do, because my phone freezes up on me somewhat often. i saw a "connect to itunes" screen that i have never seen before, and once i connected it to itunes, it said that it was in recovery mode and the only way i could use it is to restore it. problem: i don't want to lose everything on my phone! everytime i've tried to back it up something crashes so i've never been able to back it up, so if i restore it i've lost all my pictures for good. is there a way to get it out of recovery mode without restoring it? please help!

  • How do I take my iPod out of "Recovery Mode" without restoring to factory settings?

    (iPod 4th Gen, Windows 7)
I hadn't synced my iPod touch for a long time, because just before Christmas, my antivirus stopped working on my laptop, and I got a virus. I was unable to do anything. Because of my circumstances, I wasn't able to get my computer back to normal until just about a week ago. During the time I didn't have access to my computer, I made a lot of purchases in the iTunes app.
Now that I have access to my computer again, I tried to sync my iPod. Since it had been a while, I needed to update it. Something must have happened during the update, but I don't know what. All I know is that now my iPod will only show the "Connect to iTunes" screen (so I can't use it at all), and when I connect to iTunes, it says my iPod is in "Recovery Mode." My purchases were not synced to my computer.
iTunes says to restore it, but I don't want to do that because I would lose all of the purchases I've made since Christmas. They weren't synced, so they would be wiped if I restored it, and only what is on my laptop would be re-synced.
Bottom line: is there a way to get my iPod to work again, without restoring it to factory settings? If not, then I spent all of that money in iTunes, and now what? I'm supposed to buy it again?
Thanks for taking the time to read this; I know it's long. I just wanted to make sure all of the details were there, because I've scoured the internet, and no one has a solution for this, other than wiping the slate clean, downloading a program from who-knows-where, with who-knows-what viruses attached to it, or jailbreaking. And those are not options.

Yu can try to use this program to get the iPOd out of recovery mode.

However, from what you describe, the iPod is very corrupted and a restore is required. I know of no way to get any ifno off the iPod

  • "I Tunes has Detected an iPod in Recovery Mode".  Restored it BUT.......

Been using my iPod and I bring it to work to copy over a book on CD. It hasn't been hooked up to my computer at work in a few weeks but works well at home. It plays the music I HAD on it but when I pluged it in on my work computer I get the "I Tunes has Detected an iPod in Recovery Mode" message and it says it needs to recovery it to work.
In the Summary page in iTunes I see that my iPod is up to date but my iPod has lost its name and it says I need to recover it. I ran the recovery, it downloaded what it needed, installed on my iPod and it restarted. Now I get the "I Tunes has Detected an iPod in Recovery Mode" again and again it asks to recover.
Is this an endless loop I am stuck in? Does my iPod some how need a complete reboot/wipe/format?

under the circumstances you describe, it seems most likely that the relentless recovery mode message on the work PC is being caused by a Windows drive letter confusion on the work PC.

  • IPod in Recovery Mode Loop, Restore Does Not Work

When I turn my iPod on it says "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." I connect it to iTunes, restore it and then it says that it is still in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
Nothing I've tried has worked. I've put it in disk mode, I've changed the drive letter so Windows doesn't confuse it with anything else. I tried to go to the Genius bar but they were so backed up the only appointment I could get was for 8pm tomorrow!
    Hopefully someone can help!

I've got the same problem with my iPod nano 3rd generation. I'll connect it to iTunes, and it says that an iPod has been detected in recovery mode, and it'll ask me to keep it connected to the computer. It'll then prepare it for recovery, and then tell me there's been an iPod detected in recovery mode. It'll perform this loop several times before I'm given the option to restore it, in which the iPod displays an old version of the iPod interface (I'm talking 1st or 2nd generation of the classic iPod).
Once I'm given the option to restore, it says "Extracting software", finishes, and says that the iPod is being restarted, and then starts with the "iTunes needs to prepare your iPod for recovery. Please leave your iPod connected." loop once again.
I would really prefer to not have to drive to the Apple store to get this problem fixed...

  • Is there a way I can get my iPhone 4 out of recovery mode without restoring it?

I recently came back from an amazing trip to Europe and I took so many photos on my iPhone, sadly on the way back it froze so I put it into recovery mode because it wouldn't connect to iTunes. Finally it did, but now I have to restore it and I didn't even get a chance to sync my photos, apps, contacts, etc. Is there some sort of third party software that can assist me?

    Hi,
Firstly, very sorry to hear this has happened to you, have you simply tried holding the home and top button in until you see the apple logo and seeing if this will reboot the iPhone?
I can understand your pain , there are some apps out there but I would not recommend for the novice user and I unfortunately there is no guarantee, if you are more novice, try googling "recboot", if your more advanced, you should google "ibooter"
    Good luck.
