TS1474 didn't back up, regretting it now. help!

I didn't back up my computer, let alone anything on my iTunes. How can I get the music purchased without re-syncing my ipod to my new PC (not a traitor, just broke). If i resync my ipod to the pc then it erases all my itunes (or so the computer says). please help this unsaavy computer user! thanks!

The folder where your backup data is stored changes depending on the computer's operating system. Since iTunes only keeps one backup per device, you should ensure the backup folder is included in your periodic data backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7).

If you don't have, you'll have to start all over again. Apps can be downloaded again for free, but any data like game settings or similar will not be included, these are part of the backup.

  • How do i get my photos back, if I didn't back up my iPhone 5 and now its in recovery mode after updating to iOS 8.0.2?

How do i get my photos back, if I didn't back up my iPhone 5 and now its in recovery mode after updating from iOS 8.0.1 to iOS 8.0.2?

In you case, the only way is to use data recovery app to get back your lost photos, so the chance is uncertain. It depends on how smart the app it's. The good news is that most of the apps allow you to try them out. You can test them out by yourself. The steps are:
Install data recovery app on your computer
connect your iPhone and allow the app scan iphone
    display scanning result
choose local folder to store recovered items
You can choose to recover your photos from local disk, iTunes backup or icloud.  More details can be found out here.

You cannot.  If it is in recovery mode, the data is already gone.
Did you fail to make sure everything was on your computer before updating?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • In limbo between Leopard and Snow Leopard - stupidly didn't back up

I've got an old-school black MacBook, about four years old now. I never cared enough to upgrade it to Snow Leopard, but now I want Lion. So, I borrowed my parents' five-license Snow Leopard install disc and started off on the journey to upgrade to Snow Leopard, download the App Store update, then download and install Lion. I didn't get far.
First, let me say that I didn't back up my hard drive. Like an idiot. Yes, I know it was stupid, so there's no need to say anything. My previous installs (a few clean re-installs) have gone without a hitch, so I figured I'd trust Apple and just run the installation without backing up. Dumb.
The Snow Leopard installation started fine, but was interrupted when the installer said the install failed. Restart, try again. Booting from the install DVD, things seemed to be going fine a second time around -- picked my language, got to the install set-up screen, picked Macintosh HD as my installation drive. And then things stopped working. The installer said my HD could not be written to and that it needed repair. So I went to Disk Utility to try that. Repair Disk wasn't available, so I clicked Verify Disk. That got interrupted when it said the disk needed to be repaired, after which the Repair Disk button was clickable. Tried to repair, but apparently my HD is screwed beyond the capabilities of Disk Utility.
I tried to reboot the MacBook from the HD, which Disk Utility said still had Leopard running on it. The computer wouldn't boot up. Safe Boot didn't work. So, without any other real options, I thought I'd try my luck by just trying the install again. Booted up from the install DVD, and ran into the same issues. Didn't magically fix itself, of course. So my MacBook is stuck in limbo between Leopard and Snow Leopard, won't boot from the HD and won't let me repair the disk when booted from the DVD. What do I do?
I plan to try a couple third-party disk-utility programs tomorrow (8/25/11) to recover the files on my HD. There's not much I care about on there (just some iPhone photos and my resume, really), so doing a clean wipe of the HD and installing Snow Leopard is an option. But I'd of course rather be able to recover my personal files. Is this possible at this point?
Another question I have regarding a clean wipe: If I end up having to clean off the HD and lose all my data, I'll lose the iTunes configuration for my iPhone. Will iTunes be able to import my apps and settings from my phone if I plug it in?
    Thank you very much.

  • I transferred photos to my computer by cutting and pasting.  I have some on my phone that I didn't cut and paste.  Now they are can and I cannot find them anywhere on phone or computer

I transferred photos to my computer by cutting and pasting.  I have some on my phone that I didn't cut and paste.  Now they are gone and and I cannot find them anywhere on phone or computer. Are they lost forever.  I have done no back-up recently or icloud.  My daughters 8th grade graduation was on it.  I am devastated.

A lot of I should haves.  I had too many photos and while at work I opened up the 4 folders inside of the DCIM folder on my phone.  I didn't think it would be a big deal to just cut the photos and paste on my computer as I have  done this before.  i moved one folder that had 803 pictures in it and all was fine.  I ran out of time and unplugged phone and went home.  When I got to work this morning I was looking at my phone and realized I only had 34 pictures.  I knew there should have been 400+ there and they are gone.  Don't know what happened and if they were deleted off phone or computer I cannot see them anywhere.  I didn't back up (I know mistake) Lessoned learned I just hope there is something i can do!

  • An important note has been erased on accident. How do i get it back if i didn't back it up?

I was on my phone and I swiped, and i somehow accidentally deleted a note that was very important to me. I wrote my notes in there and it's built up over 2 years so I'm freaking out right now. If i didn't back it up, how do i get the one i deleted back? I know that it just didn't suddenly disappear, it has to be in my phone somewhere. When it was deleted on my phone, it deleted everywhere else. (everything is synced) I don't even see it on my cloud. Also, when the note was deleted, my phone has ios 7, but it told me to update to ios 8 so i did. Does that make a difference?
Also if you answer this question:
    1. Don't tell me how stupid that is, i already know
    2. No i did not back it up to its most recent state because i just never got to it. The latest i have backed it up was in august and since then, i've added many many things to my notes. So it would be nice if i could recover what i deleted.
    3. Don't tell me how out of luck I am, at least try to help.
    4. If you know a way to recover this, please please tell me. I really need this note back.

There is no way to recover your deleted note if you haven't backed up. Although you can try one of the iPhone file browsers such as Touch Copy; if it doesn't find the note then you've exhausted the options.
What you might want to consider for the future is using a more robust note-taking app such as Evernote, which DOES save deleted notes (and also syncs them to your computer(s) and other devices in real time, as they are created or edited).

  • HT1349 I rented a movie, tried to put it on my Ipad, it didn't work. the movie has now disappeared from my library.

I rented a movie, tried to put it on my Ipad, it didn't work. the movie has now disappeared from my library.
when I tried to sync, it said I had no internet connection which is not the case.
how can I get it back????

Once you move the movie from iTunes to the iPad, the movie disappears from iTunes. That's how rentals work.
If you can't find the movie on the iPad, you will have to contact iTunes support to get help with this. You could try rebooting the iPad and see if the movies shows up, but its gone from iTunes and it will not come back unless you rent it again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
You can try doing a search as well, by swiping to the right from your first home screen. Type the name of the movie in and see if it appears.

  • I transfered my data from icloud onto my new ipad and one of my games didn't back up as i saved it initially. I have to start all over is this normal

You can't merge the backups, you'll have to delete the backup of your old phone.  If it says it's currently in use when you try, that will normally clear up on its own but may take 3-5 days to do so.  Give it a few days and try deleting the old backup again.
In the meantime, you can create a manual backup of your new phone on your computer by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of your phone in iTuens, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking Back Up Now.  Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Then you'll be safe until you can start backup up to iCloud again.

  • If I did the IOS 8 update and didn't back my phone up before the update, does that mean all of my pictures are gone?

If I did the IOS 8 update and didn't back my phone up before the update, does that mean all of my pictures are gone? While I was doing the update it told me to plug my phone into iTunes. I did so and then it said my phone needed to be "restored" but it said I was going to get my pictures, messages, music and contacts back later on. Now being one day later I did not get any of that back.

If you don't have a backup then you can't get the data back.
It's not typical for an update to require a restore, but for a handful of people the update gets interrupted, and this happens.

  • How do I migrate apps from an old iphone if I didn't back them up

How do I migrate apps from an old iphone if I didn't back them up?
I created a backup of my iphone 5s just before activating my iphone6.  But I chose not to back up the apps to my computer because at the moment I was thinking of my MBA's hard disk space.  Now that Im restoring the backup to my new phone, I get an itunes message saying 64 apps were not installed on my phone because the apps could not be found.
The phone is still restoring photos.  What can I do to get those apps on my phone without having to re-install them manually?

Ok, I have my old iphone5s and my new iphone6.
I have apps on my iphone5s, i haven't erased anything.
One of those for example is iBank.
I connect the iphone5s to my mac, in iTunes I select the phone, click on Computer backup "This computer" and click on Backup now.  Itunes says its backing it up and finishes.
Now I unplug the iphone5s and plug in the iphone6.
It starts to sync but then gives me an error saying some apps were not installed:
The games I don't care about, but iBank I do, there is also a company erp app.  Those are the only 2 I really need to have back on my new phone.  No matter how many times i backup the old, it just won't find the apps.  Why?

  • IPhone 3G broke - didn't back up my info

My iPhone 3G broke and they replaced it at the apple store. I didn't back up my info since April is there anyway I can get it back or am I SOL

There is no way to get it back. The iPhone hadn't been synced with iTunes since April, there was a hardware problem that required the iPhone being exchanged/replaced and I assume you weren't able to sync the iPhone with iTunes before doing so, and now that iPhone is gone.
Unless you are the "One" as in the Matrix movie, there is no way to recover data that doesn't exist.

  • Just had my ipod touch replaced kindly by apple as was a fault but all the purchased songs i had on it are gone anyway off getting them back and no i didn't back it up b4 it went faulty....

If you are the USA and using the latest iTunes you can redownload most iTunes purchased via the iCloud beta:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise you can contact iTunes and they MAY allow a redownload.   To contact iTunes see:

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more.  And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should.  On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much.  I will post a note in the app store to let them know.  I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.
