  • IPad not Recognized by mac or pc

I have a iPad which slowly charges through the charger, takes almost four times the time normal iPad would take to charge but if I connect with pc or mac it fails to get detected. I can not update the firmware and in a DALMIA how to rectify the issue. I have changed computers, USB cables but it does not work. I need to try reset from iPad settings but worried if it does not get Recognized it will be a dead machine. I got into this problem only a month after purchase but did not take to apple as I have lot of work done in the iPad and I cannot take a backup and if someone tried some thing, my work will be lost. If you have any solution?

Have you tried to swap out USB cords to see if you have a bad one?
If you have tried multiple combos of computers and cords and still get no joy recharging/syncing, then it's possible that hte USB port on your ipad itself has gone bad. Happened to me. return it to where you purchased it or to an apple store. Expect them to take time to replicate the issue and to rule out cheaper fixes like a bad cord. Once they can prove that it's the iPad itself, they should replace/repair your iPad.
the USB on mine acted up the same way, and after plugging it into 3 laptops, 1 mac and multiple chargers and not getting a response, I took it back to best buy and they exchanged my iPad for a new one.
You will likely lose anything on it since your last backup, so you'll want to e-mail off any pertinant files before you take it in.
The USB messing up is usually covered under manufacturer's defect and, unless there's a huge dent or something by the port, you should be fine exchanging it.

  • IPod Touch not recognized by mac computer

I have just upgraded my os to Leopard and now when I plug in my iPod touch, iTunes does not open, and when I open it, it does not show my iPod.
Can someone tell me how to get my computer to see my ipod.

have had Leopard ever since it came out, this is a problem since the iLife update 2 days ago, iTunes will not recognize my iPod Touch, is reinstalling iTunes the only way to do this? I have been having problems with Mail, too. But, I guess that is a problem for another forum. I think there have been quite a few nifty, but tricky additions to iLife in the last update.

I replaced the hard drive to a 30gig on my Ipod 4th gen. click wheel but it is still not recognized on my computer or in itunes......I get an error message with a folder and "!"....what can I do to fix??

Have you recharge the battery for at least 2 hours, or just leave it connected for 4 hours?
(When you replaced the Hardisk, you should also replace the battery.)
Some other iPod SSD sites, says that you may have to format the CF in FAT32, as Mac dont read NTFS drive so if Windows is the 1st PC that your CF is connected, it may be formatted to NTFS.
You can try erasing the CF using Disk Utilty, so that Mac can recognise it. (but not Windows)
    Have a nice day!

  • Ipod nano and shuffle are not recognized by my computer or itunes

When I plug in the ipod, both the nano 6th generation and the shuffle, the device is not recognized by my computer or itunes.  It will be recognized by my computer for a few seconds and then disappears.  The device will show up on the right side of the screen in itunes but not on the left.  The troubleshooter tells me it is a compatability issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, i have turned off the compatabilty mode, nothing works.

What displays on the iPods screen when you have it connected?  I assume you have tried another known working USB cable?
Is iTunes up do date on your PC (currently at 10.7)?
Have you tried connecting to another PC or Mac?

  • Ipod Nano not recognized on my computer

My iPod Nano doesn't show up on My Computer or in the ITunes store under devices.
A popup recommends reconnecting the device but it does not help.  It then says to uninstall and reinstall Itunes.
This device used to be recognized on a different pc but we changed out pcs.  Is a Nano only supposed to be recognized on only one Pc?

Try one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes - Windows XP | Windows Vista or 7 | Mac OS X
    > Reset iPod (will not delete everything)
    > Go to My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if iDevice shows
    > Restore iPod (will delete everything)
    > Make sure iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up to date

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ---   disk not recognized by this computer  ----

I have the G4 tower with a dvd burner, and I recently
bought a floppy drive read/write. [t-max? external teac]
Files which were prior saved onto floppy get an error msg:
' disk not recognized by this computer ' 'format now? '
these were claris works files, saved via apple IIg onto
apple formatted 1.4 mb disks, which are now un readable.
    suggestions ?
oh .. the unit IS working OK to save jpegs, claris 5 files now.. on my current system.....
but floppys previously [1990's] formatted are not readable.

Reader Gerrie E. Cooper has a stash of old floppies that contain fonts from Adobe, Agfa, and other companies. It’s bad enough that the fonts are stored on this prehistoric media, but said media is of the 800KB variety. He wonders what course to take.
I’m afraid that the answer is to find an old Mac (an SE on up to a beige Power Mac G3 will do the trick), insert the floppies into that Mac’s drive, create disk images of the floppies, and then copy the images to the current Mac. Third-party USB floppy drives support 1.4MB HD floppies but not double-density 800KB disks.
