TS1502 My iPod Classic is shutting down iTunes, blue screening my computer (windows7) and restarting it... any suggestions?

I hadnt used my iPod in awhile, so when I tried to sync it, the libraries didnt match up and to avoid hassle I decided to restore it (using the option on itunes when you plug in your device).
After restoring, I tried to connect to iTunes again. While it said 'syncing iPod' on my device, it froze iTunes. Within seconds, my computer crashed and a blue screen came up. I restarted my computer and tried to sync again, with the same result. I should also mention that upon plugging it in, my computer comes up with a box saying check device, hardware problems. I click 'find solution/check for problems' but they always come back negative. I've searched for and tried many options:
Starting it in safe mode, disk use, not allowing auto sync. Rebooting my iPod (hold down menu+center). Rebooting then connecting while the apple logo is displayed. Tried different USB cables. iTunes help said to check for driver updates on my computer, and all are fine.
If my iPod can just stop working for no apparant reason (its not like it took a late night toilet bowl swim) how I can determine if its toast or I'm just trying the wrong things? Suggestions, please??!!!

  • Macbook Pro 10.6.8 won't shut down. Blue screen with spinning wheel.

it's an 15 inch macbook pro. since I bought this computer was working fine about last year. Somehow, start of this year, the problem begins. Everytime when i opened microsoft word 2011 on mac or Photoshop cs5, and quit the software as normaly. When i try to shut down the blue screen with spinning wheel apears. this spining wheel is endless. But funny thing is that after use other software such as games, web browser (safari) etc. and quit them. when i shut down there was not a problem. only word 2011 for mac and adobe photoshop cs5. Any solutions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged during the time something abnormal was happening. That time might be before or after the boot.
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. If the problem is a system crash or freeze, post the messages from before the boot time, when the system was about to crash or was failing to shut down. In either case, please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning or the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
If the log doesn't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2. Search that archived log, and if necessary the older ones below it, for the same information.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Do the same with kernel.log.
    Step 3
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • IMac won't shut down?  Blue screen w/ spinning icon?

I bought my iMac in 2010 and I've had absolutely no problems until recently.
    My problem:
Every time I click "Shut Down," the applications quit and the screen turns to light-blue with the "spinning icon."  It looks like it will eventually shut off, but it never does.  The light-blue screen just stays there and the icon just keeps spinning.  Every time this happens I am forced to hold the power button until it shuts off.
Does anyone have any solutions?  Thanks.

Try the suggestions in Apple's Gray screen appears during startup. Those would be:
    1. Dsconnect EVERYTHING from the iMac and try to re-start normally.
    2. Reboot in Safe Mode.
    3. Reset the PRAM
    4. Run Disk Utility from the ORIGINAL Install Disc that came with the computer.
    5. Check all connecting cables
    6. Remove third party parts including RAM.

  • IMac intel 10.6.8 will not shut down. Blue screen comes on and spinning wheel goes round.

My iMac intel will not shut down. The version is 10.6.8. To turn it off I have to use the the power off button. Is there any one who can help me to solve the problem.
The blue screen comes on and the spinning wheel goes round and round until I have to turn it off by the power button.

I am having the same problem on my Mini.  I found an earlier thread (now archived) that suggested that this spinning wheel on shutdown of SL has something to do with power management settings.  Another idea was that it is related to EyeTV (which I do have running on this Mac).
Any ideas from the community on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!  (I have done the typical steps of repairing permissions and (from the Install CD) running Disk Utility, which reported no problems.)

  • IOS 7 shutting down with blue screen

About  2 to 3 x per day, while working with the 5S, it will suddenly shut off with a flash of a light blue light. It immediately restarts itself.

    Hello Rossi67,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the iPhone is restarting unexpectedly for some reason. I would start with resetting the phone, and seeing how that works for a while.
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If the issue persists after that, then I would backup and restore your phone to iTunes.

  • Scrambled screen, forced shut down then blue screen. whats the problem?

    Hi,
My 2 years old Macbook Pro started to fail in the past few days in a strange way, to which I would be hapy to find an explanation or suggestion to fix it.
After a few hours of usage, usually when I open a program (iPhoto for example), the screen gets messed up, scrambled or just split in half (right side on the left and left side on the right). Usually the only option I have is to forcibly shut down the computer, but then I only see first grey screen stuck and after the second forced restart it is only blue screen after the apple logo upon restart.
I have managed to fix the problem twice so far (yesterday and today) by using the CMD-S combo at start-up and then fix the corrupted file system with the /sbin/fsck -fy command (which I had to repeat 2-3 times til the file system was fixed). After that I could restart the computer.
I am afraid that it may just happen again, but not sure what is the problem. could it be the video card, or the RAM or perhaps my HDD is dying?
I am no expert, please let me know your opinions and suggestions! I would really appreciate it!
    cheers
    Adam

I have this exact same problem. It's only started occuring recently but its dreadful. I think it has to do with graphic switching. Whenever I open a program that asks for dicrete GPU my computer does the above or just freezes. When I reboot, I have to put my password in twice due to filevault I think, It passes the first but freezes after the second.
I downloaded a program called gfxcardstatus to confirm this, and it only occurs when I try to switch graphics. (My idead was to force integrated only, but when I try that it freezez)

  • Ipod Classic 30GB shutting down

I have a Clasic Ipod 30GB that I've had since probably 2006ish. It's been very reliable and I still have a ton of room on it but as of the last year or so it won't play my songs for any longer than an hour or so. It'll tell me it still has a full charge but it'll die and I can't turn it back on unless it's hooked to my Ipod Dock or our Bose player. Is this the battery failing? Is it possible to replace the battery or will it just be easier to get a new Ipod altogether? I would probably end up getting another classic pretty much since I have no need for a Touch or anything like that as long as I can get at least another 30GB

  • Firmware 1.1.1, Ipod Classic 160 shuts down in the middle of MP3 playback,

On Firmware 1.1.1 I noticed that sometimes the Ipod would turn-off (or crash I suppose) while playing an MP3 song. Does not happen often but it does.
I think it might have happened with 1.0.3 but I am uncertain.
    Anyone has that problem???
    Thanks!!

Actually i have the same problem since upgrading to 1.1.1. It stops playing an mp3, and then losses the album art when I choose another song. If I reset it, it will play the same sone fine. Also noticed that if I pause it and leave it for a bit it lock up and have to reset it.
Just downgraded to 1.0.3 to see if it's the ipod or the firmware.

  • Cannot sync my iPod Classic/ iPad 2 to iTunes

Every since the latest update (ver 11.1.3 (8) ), I am unable to sync my devices to iTunes. What happens is that the programs crashes. Additionally, if the device is connected to the computer prior to opening iTunes, the program won't load and crash. Any suggestions?
PD. I have an iMac 2012.

I'm having the same issue.  At first it synced the music, but the tracks wouldn't load on my ipod.  Tryed again and restored my ipod.  Now I can't get any music on it because it keeps coming up with errors or locks up. Some music on itunes that I puchased is no longer synced to my account for some reason.  Any ideas on a fix?
P.S. tryed your method John and a no go.
