TS1538 My ipod isn't recognized by my PC or itunes and I have tried all suggestions in related articles? help
Hi,
After reading all the suggestions, i have reset and all data and media has been removed. Upon restart, I get the "connect to itunes" icon, however cannot proceeed past this page, as the ipod is not recognized on my PC, nor itunes. The cable is fine and works fine for my iphone, I have verified that Apple mobile software is active, etc. HELP?

Did you do everything here:

Including
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem

I've had my iPod Touch for a couple years now and I went to upload music and a movie on it today and my Macbook wouldn't recognize it. Does it light up at all? If not, you could have a battery issue.

This came from another thread, but worked for me. Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62 and Windows 8.1. Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Divice Support, and Apple Software Update). Reboot, and reinstall iTunes. It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano. Good luck.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer. -

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Hi everyone! WE just got an ipod touch 8G. We do have wireless internet, but can't join the network with the ipod touch. Message comes up.."unable to join the network".....very frustrating! We have tried all trouble-shooting suggestions on the site, but nothing is working. Anyone out there got any ideas for us?? The router is a Linksys WRT120N.

My Ipod Nano 6th generation is no longer recognized by iTunes & my computer. I did all troubleshooting steps. After checking for changes and reinstalling legacy software in device manager I keep getting an error 10 message (device can't start). I recently bought a second-hand ipod classic. When connecting to itunes the message reads that the ipod is corrupt and needs to be restored to factory settings. However, this does not solve the issue and I get the message saying unable to restore, unknown error 1439. No matter what i have tried through apple support i get the same result. My computer runs Windows XP but I have also tried on my laptop which operates Vista and still no joy. Anyone able to solve this one?
Normally unknown error is due to timeout, cause by
connected to slow USB port at the front of the PC, or using USB Hubs - Better connect to the USB HUb at the back of the PC. (Some Laptop, has only one High Power -USB2.0 port
USB resource low, due to sharing of other USB devices - Disconnect all other USB devices when Restoring.
Winsocks conflict with iTunes - Disconnect Internet and Stop firewall and Antivirus, emails apps.

I've tried the "five R's" and they aren't helping at all, I'd really just like to be able to get music on my iPod so I can use it.

I can't get Itunes to communicate with my 3rd gen Nano - I've reinstalled iTunes several times but still get the same error message for both mine and my wife's ipod - same version of 3rd gen. All the troubleshooting guide has been followed but still not connecting.
Any ideas?Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok. -
