TS1538 restore itunes? after getting a new ipod

My 6th generation iPod broke, had to get a new one.  Now I am trying to restore. Am afraid I will lose all my music although it is backed up on my computer. Any pointers or ideas before I proceed?

Why would syncing a new iPod cause content on your computer to disappear?
Sorry, but there is nothing logical or intelligent about that.
Plug the device into the computer.
Select the content desired to sync.
Sync.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Now it keeps saying that it is restored but there is still no music or video on it. And a new error is coming up that says "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

  • I have created separate user accounts for my 2 boys on my macbook. How do i get my itunes library onto their new ipods?

I have created separate user accounts for my 2 boys on my macbook. How do i get my itunes library onto their new ipods?

They can't.  Which came first - the chicken or the egg?  Actually, that's a bad comparison but a sync must come first.
The library is actually part of iTunes and it contains everything.  iTunes is then configured so that you (or they) determine which portion of everything will be synced to each iPod (identified by a unique name, see below for an example of an iPod and an iPad).  iTunes can't make that decision until AFTER it knows which iPods exist.
By the way, I (you, they) can very easily change the name of each device to whatever I (you, they) wish to call it.

  • How do I get the new iPod to work with iTunes

I recently purchased a new iPod--I think it's the "Shuffle," whichever one retails for $150. When I plugged it into my iMac, it said I needed to install iTunes 10 to run it. When I checked for updates, it said that iTunes 9.xyz (whatever came after the 9) was the latest version.
How do I get this new iPod to work. As you can tell, I am not much of a gadget junkie, and I'm a bit of a technology incompetent, which is why I purchased the Mac to begin with. I have an iMac, have no idea what operating system I am using--whatever came with it when I purchased it in November, 2008.
    TIA!

Okay, I just looked and I do have 10.411. How do I upgrade to get the new iPod to work, and how much does the new operating system cost?

  • After getting a new router, my Ipod touch is asking for a password.  I didn't have one before, so I don't know what it is

After getting a new router, my ipod touch is asking for a password.  I was able to put in the router's passcode on all my other wireless stuff, but the ipod won't accept it.  I thought I had made too many attempts, but I've reset it and it still won't let me on.  I have no idea what the password is or why it is now asking for one. Help!!

Look at the manual for the router.  The password is on the router.  Then change the password in the router to something other than the default one and use that password when the iPod asks for it (it will only ask once, once it has the password/router combo in its memory, it will remember it)

At startup hold down the Command+Option/Alt+r keys until you see a globe on the screen. Then use disk utility to partition and format the drive HSF+ and then select Reinstall Mac OS X. whatever version of OS X that originally came on your system will be installed and then you can upgrade back to Mavericks.

I am using Windows 8.1 .  My wife has never had an iTuunes account

    Hello Lakesidetom,
It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Below, I have included links to some resources that may help you determine if your wife has created an Apple ID:

  • Hi, i want to know how the recycle process works do you have to have the earpods and itunes disk and do you get a new ipod of your choice or a new one that you traded. Is it completely free.

hi is the recycle process free?
DO YOU NEED TO HAVE THE EARPODS AND THE ITUNES DISK TO PART TAKE IN IT OR JUST THE IPOD?
DO YOU GET A NEW IPOD OF YOUR CHOICE EG.IF I HAVE A IPOD CLASSIC AND I WANT A IPOD TOUCH 5TH GENERATION OR DO I GET THE SAME IPOD CLASSIC BUT NEW.

Please don't write all in caps. It's consider to be "shouting", and is more difficult to read.
As to your question, an Apple Store will give you 10% off of the purchase price on any new iPod when you recycle an old one (the iPod shuffle not included). They do not need the earphones nor any of the disks or packaging.
    Regards.

I have recently restored everything on my iMac after getting a new hard drive. When i try to use Elements, i get the following error code   ERROR  150:30. Any ideas?

Did you use migration assistant to copy over programs, documents, and settings? You can't do that with PSE. Elements is not a tidy package in accordance with the apple developer guidelines. The installer strews stuff all of your hard drive in place the migration assistant isn't programmed to look and you can never hope to find all h the bits. You must always install PSE from scratch on a new machine. By attempting to copy it you have made a lot of trouble for yourself.
You will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
and then you can go around and manually remove what you can reach. Look in applications, your hard drive>library>application support>adobe, your username>library>preferences. In the user library also delete any saved application states for PSE.
Then you can reinstall from scratch.

  • ITunes not working with new iPod

After recently getting a new iPod, I cant get it to work.
The problem is no tin the iPod, Im sure of that. The problem occurs with any iPod on the system.
The problem is that when the iPod is plugged in, it recognizes it, but not as an iPod. At first we thought it was because of other USB devices on the computer, and removed them. One of the devices was an external hard drive, which has all of my iTunes music on it. We moved the external drive to a different networked computer, and made it a network folder. That way we can access all of our iTunes music from a different computer.
That works very well...All of our music can play fine, but the iPod is still not recognized. It says that the firmware on the iPod is corrupt, and asks if we want to restore it. Click yes, and we get error 1418.
    How do we fix this?

hmmmmm. you're not getting the classical symptoms of the following issue. but since the PC is networked to other drives, we'd better check on the possibility from the following document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Getting a new iPod Touch to work

    Hello,
I can't get my new iPod Touch to work, and I would appreciate help!
I bought an iPod Touch today. I turned it on and the Apple logo appeared, and then instructions to connect the iPod to a computer appeared on the screen. The screen was very dark and I could hardly see what was on it. I connected the iPod to my MacBook Pro. iTunes started and said that the connected iPod was in recovery mode and that I needed to restore it to factory settings before I could use it. At this point, the screen of the iPod was blank. iTunes could not detect the version of the software, the iPod's capacity or its serial number. I tried to restore the iPod but iTunes gave me an error message saying that an error happened. At this point, the iPod was completely unresponsive, and the only thing that I could do was restarting by holding the home and power buttons.
The iPod has been connected to my computer for an hour now, and the situation is still the same. Any idea of what's wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

I got mine last week and it started up right away after pressing the home button. then I plugged it into my iMac and set it up. So your situation does not sound normal. I would try:If iPod touch won’t turn on, or if the display freezes or doesn’t respond
Â iPod touch may need charging. See “Charging the Battery” on page 22.
Â Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you
    were using quits.
Â If that doesn’t work, turn off iPod touch and turn it on again. Press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button on top of iPod touch for a few seconds until a red slider appears,
and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple
    logo appears.
Â If that doesn’t work, reset iPod touch. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button
and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • I've been able to trick my ipod into letting me in but I still cant get the touchscreen to work. I've reset it 10 times and I dont have a computer at my house so I am unable to connect it to see whats wrong do I just need to get a new ipod or what this is

I have been able to trick my ipod into letting me in but I still can't get the touchscreen to work this is extremely annoying and I was wondering if i should just get a new ipod or what?

You need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection
    Try:
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • ITunes and XP see new iPod(s) but perptually detect recovery mode

    Hello.
We received two 80GB iPod Classics and a 160GB iPod Classic for Christmas. Had to install XP SP2 and iTunes 7.5.0.20 in order to load music. The iPods are detected by XP: the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon shows up in the TaskBar, and "Apple iPod USB Driver" and "USB Mass Storage Device" appear in Device Manager when the iPod is plugged into a(ny) USB port. The iPod then appears under "Devices" in iTunes but a dialog box always appears immediately, saying "iTunes has detected an iPod in Recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.".
So I did; iTunes downloaded a 57MB update for the iPod (v1.0.3) and installed it. It restarted the iPod and, as soon as it re-appeared in iTunes, it gave the same message.
The "Sync iPod" command in the "File" menu is greyed out so the only thing I can do is rename the iPod, but the name has reverted to "iPod" whenever I re-connect.
Tried several (new) cables and even bought a new USB 2.0 card; no joy. Subsequently used my daughter's new laptop (running Vista) to transfer songs to two of the iPods with no problem; the XP machine continues to report them as being in recovery mode even though they work fine.
The "five Rs" didn't work. Though I can watch iTunes and the iPod communicate when performing the Restore, iTunes' diagnostics curiously reports "No iPod found" (always).
I can only think of two potential problems:
    1) The XP machine is somehow too old: dual PII 450
    2) I have not applied any patches to XP; it's SP2 straight out of the box and I haven't authenticated it with Microsoft yet.
Has anyone seen behavior similar to this and found a solution?
    Thanks
PS: it appears iTunes and the iPod can become confused about disconnecting when the eject icon is clicked after a second window has been opened - and even closed - by double-clicking the iPod device in iTunes; have to use XP to "Safely Remove Hardware" before the iPod acknowledges it's disconnected.

    Actually, Robert had the answer.
After I accidently "solved" the problem, my first network drive wasn't available. After re-booting and re-connecting the iPod, the problem returned.
Robert's reply then prompted me to check (via the Logical Disk Manager) the drive letter assigned to the iPod. Sure enough, it was using the same letter as my missing network drive. So if the iPod was connected during re-boot, it got the letter first and worked; otherwise the letter would be unavailable for the iPod.
I changed the iPod's drive letter to Z. (I had also removed and re-installed iTunes, and later Restored the iPod again, but I can't say for certain that either of those steps was necessary). The problem has now stayed solved - even after returning the BIOS setting to "Disabled".
So THANKS Robert. I'll see if I can follow Katrina's suggestion to award you Forum points.

if i get a new ipod can i restore my apps if i hve backed them up on itunes and does itunes keep the data for my apps

App data is NOT stored with the apps in your iTunes library. Some apps store data is stored i servers and thus will appears when yo log into that app. Otherwise, yo will have to restore from backup to get the app data back to the time that the backup was made.
