TS1559 iPhone 4S I've tried the above, including an attempt at restore which yielded an error message: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error (1644) occurred." So now what do I attempt?
Can anyone help me on this attempt to get the wi-fi switch from being greyed out? What's wrong with Apple support? So many seeme to bb having this problem.
Usually that means the iPhone was hacked to unlock it from the original
carrier .
Updating the operating system locks it back to that original carrier
You could try this
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
However if the iPhone was hacked it is probably a paper weight now
and as this is an Apple hosted forum you can get no further help here

thanksif itunes can no longer pickup your ipod, and you cant even do anything to your ipod, your best option is to either call apple care, or just take it to the nearest apple shop. i had a similar problem, mines currently at apple care repairs and they might just end up giving me a replacement.

When I try to listen to the songs I purchased from iTunes last week, I get the error message, "could not be used because the original file could not be found. would you like to locate it?" What do I do to fix this problem or locate the song?
Thanks!I am getting this same message. I recently bought a new Macbook Pro and the geeks transferred my files from my mini-mac. Perhaps they did not transfer something critical? I follow the "locate" option when it asks to find my files and I get a file folder that has a red circle with a white bar in the middle.
I have the same issues with my downloaded movies but my apps all seem to be fine.
Even more confusing - it seems to allow random songs to play and download on my Macbook and other devices. But most of my music - whether downloaded from iTunes or my CD collection comes up with that message about the original file.
Should I get new geeks to locate these files on my old mini-mac? -
The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occurred (1301
I launched iTunes 9.0.1 today and got this error:
"The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occurred (13014)"
An archived tip on the iTunes for Windows forum that suggested deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb. That didn't work, I also had to delete iTunes Library Extras.itdb. (For the record I renamed them instead of deleting, but the original post suggested deleting).
Anyway, I thought I'd pass that on in case anyone else experiences this problem.I had the same error and I keep my iTune folder on an external drive due to size. I tried to create a sub-folder to temporarirly hold the itdb file(s) and give it a try. The system wouldn't let me create the folder, at which point I remembered I had left my mac on but unplugged to find the battery drained in the morning. Upon plugging it in, it came back but then told me I hadn't exjected my external disk. So, I figured there might be a correlation. I tried to eject the disk and it wouldn't let me though no programs were running. So, I went ahead an chose to "Force" the eject via the option it presented me. On the un/re-plugging the disk, I tried to created a subfolder and it worked. Before moving any files to it, I tried starting iTunes again and voila, it worked. So, I suspect the comment above about files being locked is what bit me. Hope this helps...

“DSCF0019.RAF” could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Why is this occuring on my iMac with Lightroom 5?
Is there something I've done that causes some images to go missing? Why is this occuring
The usual reason is because you moved the file to another location using Finder. No way for LR to know that unless you tell it by clicking on the exclamation mark icon in the grid view and then clicking "Locate". -
Cannot sync ipone. Message says 'sync session failed to start'. What do I do?
Make sure you don't have Restrictions enabled under Settings/General. If it's enabled, you might need to restart your phone afterwards.

"The network connection could not be stablished" - "An unknown error occured (-50)"
Can't authorize my account.
Good Afternoon, kulafuss,
I'm not sure if your two questions are related, but let's start with the steps to authorize your your computer for iTunes:
Authorize your computer in iTunes - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201251
Authorize your computer before you use it to sync or play content that you download from the iTunes Store.
When you authorize your Mac or PC, you’re giving it permission to access your apps, audiobooks, books, music, movies, and other content. You can authorize up to 5 computers, which means that you can play your content on 5 different computers. You can authorize a computer only through iTunes on that particular computer. You can't authorize a computer from another computer or from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. How do I authorize a computer?
Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If iTunes asks you to authorize your computer again, it won't use a new authorization. iTunes uses the same authorization for the same computer. What happens if I run out of authorizations?
If one of your 5 authorizations is on a computer you don't use much anymore, deauthorize it. If you've sold or given away a computer that used one of your 5 authorizations, you'll need to deauthorize all of your computers and then re-authorize each one you still use.
Windows users:
If you didn’t deauthorize your computer before reinstalling Windows or upgrading your RAM, hard disk, or other system components, your computer might be using multiple authorizations. Try deauthorizing your computer a few times until it’s no longer authorized, then authorize your computer again, and it will use only one authorization. How do I know how many computers I've authorized?
If you've authorized more than 2 computers, you can see how many are authorized.
Open your account in iTunes and sign in with your Apple ID. (Or, open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.) In the Apple ID Summary section, you’ll see the number of computers that you’ve authorized with your Apple ID. You can’t see the names of those computers.
Do I need to authorize my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch?
No. You don’t need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but you do need to associate your iOS devices with your Apple ID. Your iOS devices don’t use your available authorizations.Get help

The resource below will provide some intial troubleshooting steps when you receive error messages when updating or restoring iTunes software.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-ng/HT201210
You can fix most update and restore errors with a few simple steps. Try these first:
Update iTunes.
Get the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
Update your OS.
Install available updates for your Mac. If you have a PC, you can get PC software updates from the Microsoft website.
Check your computer’s security software.
You might need to update, change, disable, or uninstall software that’s causing an issue.
Unplug extra USB devices.
Keep only your iOS device, keyboard, and mouse plugged in directly to your computer.
Restart.
Turn off your computer and your device. Then turn them on again.
Try again.
Update or restore your iOS device again.
Regards,

I reinstalled iTunes because it stopped opening up and now I'm getting this error message when it refuses to to open. Help?
If you right-click iTunes and Show in Finder, is it located in the Applications folder?
Try trashing the iTunes plist files from ~/Library/Preferences/ and relaunch iTunes (all of the fies that have com.apple.iTunes in the name).
If that doesn't work, try following Apple's document -> Removing iTunes for Mac OS X.

Cannot open you default e-mail folders. The information store could not be opened?
Hi
I have a freshly installed version of windows (windows 7 ultimate x64) and when I put my credentials into Microsoft office via the Hotmail outlook connector (x64) i receive the following error message
Cannot open you default e-mail folders. The information store could not be opened
is there a way around this? What's the version of Office you are using? Is it a 64bit or 32bit edition?
Check if Outlook is in a compatibility mode:
1> Open My Computer>Local Disk C>Program Files>Microsoft Office>Office XX>Outlook.exe.
(If you are using a 64 bit machine and not using Office 64bit, go to C:\Program Files x86\Microsoft Office>Office XX>Outlook.exe)
2> Right click on Outlook.exe and click on Properties and then click onCompatibility tab. Check if you have any check mark in any of the compatibility mode options. Make sure you also click on the option "change
settings for all users" tab at the bottom of the same screen and look for similar check boxes in the window.
3> If you see any check boxes in the compatibility mode options, uncheck all the boxes and click onApply and OK.
4> Try to open outlook again.
Thanks.

a day or so ago my macbook 13in crashed in the middle of use, took several minutes to then reboot and now seems to be working fine except itunes will not open. when i try to open it a dialog box appears with the following message: "The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occured (13014).
I am running snow leopard, and it first appeared it was disk space but i checked my HD and it says there is 372GB available so i cant imagine its that.
I am by no means any sort of genius on here, so any help is beyond appreciated!Redownload iTunes. ----> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
That should solve the problem -
My problem - when syncing and error messages comes up: iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data." I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing. What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?
Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted : a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone. I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them. It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!
Thanks for pointing me to the right article. -
While upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2 something went wrong and came up with the message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [1015]." Now it will not start at all. It just stays on screen with USB and the iTune picture. What can I do to get it going again. I only tried to upgrade because I was prompted to up-grade and now I am helpless. I did a backup before starting the upgrade. The error message did not tell what to do next. Any help is very much appreciated.

when trying to sync my iphone in itunes i keep getting the error message "itunes cannot sync apps because the apps installed on the iphone could not be determined." can anyone explain what this means?
I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps. I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps. I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.
