TS1559 My wifi logo is completely greyed out!!!

I had someone at Apple do a hard reset and it came back on...for like a few hours and then it was back to no good. Since then, I have tried numerous hard resets as well as reset my network settings and no good. HELP! I have never had this issue with iOS5, this has only happened after I upgraded my iphone 4S to iOS6.
Is there anything else we can do?!? I mean I have unlimited data, but wi-fi is so much faster APPLE PLEASE FIX!

Yes I know that addressing Apple like that won't do much, but I thought they read it or got feedback from the Apple Communities/Forums. My bad!
Well how do I make sure I don't lose any data? Do I just do my iCloud backup? Because usually I would do the wifi-syn (obviously that's not an option anymore). I just want to make sure I don't lose anything if I did do a complete reset to restore my phone as NEW. Thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it!

  • My iphone 4s keeps freezing and turning itself off and the wifi option is now greyed out

My iphone 4s has been freezing and turning itself off and on for a few weeks now. I have reset it to factory settings and reinstalled everything, have updated the operating system but nothing seems to work. It was having problems connecting to wifi and when I tried to access the settings it freezes and can't find any connections. I have just updated the phone to 7.1 and now the wifi option is completely greyed out.

Your battery may have completely run down. When you connect it to power, leave it. It can take even up to an hour to get enough charge to get it to a useable state.
Although, I believe even fully drained, you should see some kind of indication on the screen of charging in progress, but it's very dim.

  • Wifi button has been greyed out for the past 2 months

my wifi button has been greyed out so for the past 2 months i've been living on cellular data and its getting really annoying. I've tried everything but it won't work any suggestions? apple should really fix this issue or else i might switch to samsung....

    Hello there, user10103.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some practical instruction for troubleshooting the very issue you're describing:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, see how to resolve those Wi-Fi issues.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Try the suggestions here to see if they resolve your problem:

If those solutions don't work your iPhone 4s has probably developed a hardware problem. The permanent solution is to get it replaced.
You can search the internet for heating and freezing solutions that might work (at least for a while).
    For example, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj10bz5bI6A
Root cause: On some iPhone 4s devices there may be a flow soldering problem with the WiFi chip. After long periods of WiFi activity such as installing an iOS update (for example, iOS 7 or iOS 8) there may be a connection failure. A work-around to this is the procedure in the youTube video.
A true hardware fix may be found here:

  • My i4s wifi button is not working. when i opened the setting and then wifi the button is greyed out. then i opened general and then about. in the bar of wifi address it is written N/A. what does its mean. i have done all other things like setting general

my i4s wifi button is not working. when i opened the setting and then wifi the button is greyed out. then i opened general and then about. in the bar of wifi address it is written N/A. what does its mean. i have done all other things like setting >general<reset<reset network setting. but all in vain. tell me the solution

restore your phone as new through itunes. if the issue persists after a factory restore via itunes, it means you've got a hardware issue and the phone needs to be repaired

  • TS1398 My iPhone 4s will no longer pick up or connect to any WiFi network. The WiFi button isn't greyed out or dimmed but the phone won't pick up any of the networks I have been connected to. I have updated to iOS 7, reset the network settings but no luck

The WiFi button is not greyed out or dimmed but the phone won't pick up or connect toany of the networks I have previously been connected to. I have updated to iOS 7, reset the network settings but no luck. Any suggestions?

    If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.

  • IChat options are all completely greyed out

iChat, for whatever reason, is totally and completely greyed out.  The only menu options I can choose are "Show Fonts," "Show Colors," and "Spelling and Grammar" - every other option or sub-option is greyed out.  iChat is completely unusable.  I tried the following:
    Fixing permissions (native)
    Fixing permissions (under Safe Boot)
    Rebooting (obviously)
Ralph's fix of Force Quitting iChat, blowing away the two plists, then restarting iChat
Looking throughout these forums for a similar problem
I've got nothing except a ton of errors in the Console log which look like these lines:
08/31/2012 11:46:44.723 PM iChat: [Warning] Failed IMDRequestPortAccess: (ipc/send) invalid destination port

And many, many repeats of the lines above.  I've been a UNIX user for 25+ years and a Mac user for 24+ years - I'm stumped.  I've never seen a Mac program be this completely hosed up.  Help!
    Thanks in advance.

    Herschel,
Thanks for reporting back on how you resolved the problem.
Regarding "repairing permissions" See Knowlege Base Article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance
    You should Repair Permissions:
After installing and/or updating an OS
    After installing software

  • HT1695 My wifi is completely greyed out and I can't turn my wifi on. How do I fix it?

I've tried resetting it and everything but it is still greyed out. Ive notice this happened last time a couple days after I updated my softerware and wasn't working for about a month and a half. Then one day it just started working again until I updated my ipod again and now the same thing is happening. My wifi greyed out. How do I fix it?

If these don't work you may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

  • TS1559 I updated my 4S and now I cannot access my wifi due to a glitch in your software.  I have reset, and restored my phone numerous times and my wifi button is still greyed out.   Your phone tech blamed my phone and said it would cost $199 to replace.

I cannot turn my wifi on.  The button is greyed out.  This problem started after I update my software.  First tech I spoke to said it was my problem because I chose to update the software and since I was out of warrenty, I would have to pay $19.99 for service agreement before anyone would talk to me.  The next tech admitted this had happened to ssomeone else and stated it was a problem with my phone triggered by the software update, and because I was 57 days out of warrently, it would cost me $199 for replacement phone.   So basically, anyone that chooses to upgrade their software, risk messing up their access to wifi and have to pay the developer of the software to fix the problem, their program caused.  Does anyone have a clue how to fix this.  Why wasn't I informed of the risks that could occur if I updated my device.  I hNave reset, restored my device with no change.  I have even reset to original with all my data deleted.  Now what??

You are correct. This is a very bad hardware error of the WiFi Chip on the Logic Board. The Chip malfunctioned or was previously damaged, but the initialization error was not detected until you Update/Restore the iPhone recently. The Problem was there, just not detected yet. The repair or replacement of the WiFi Chip is very difficult. Because Apple does not repair iPhone 4S, they only replace iPhone 4S, it costs $199.

  • After replacing wifi antenna wifi is still dimmed/greyed out.  Bluetooth works fine.  How do i fix this issue? Could there be another part that needs replacing?

my wifi was greyed out so I replaced the wifi antenna.  I just put the new one in and restored the ipad but the wifi still is greyed out but the Bluetooth works fine.  What could the problem be and how can I fix it?

This article offers some suggestions which may help: iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
This likely has nothing to do with your router.

FYI, this is a user to user technical support forum.
No one from Apple monitors, reads, or responds here.
    Try the following:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings
If the Wi-Fi is still not working, basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
The vast majority of users upgrade with absolutely no issues.

  • CS5 Trial Completely greyed out

The only thing I could use was the work space, the entire menu bar.. file, edit, image, layer..etc... was greyed out. I couldn't even save or quit. Luckily hot keys worked and I saved and closed the window and force quit the program, but I don't want this to happen again. Any ideas??
