TS1559 Wi-Fi in iOS 7

Is this problem going to be solved in iOS 7?

As a solution for your problem, I see either of those plans as grasping for straws.
Personally I would take it back to Apple and ask them to check it out and for estimated cost of repair. At least that would eliminate hardware as a possible problem.

    Hello Bellaluna2Bianca
Thanks for the question. It looks like you came from the most relevant article. You might want to follow these steps, and if the issue persists, contact Apple for support and service options.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
    2. Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings
    3. Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
    4. If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.
If you are still unable to turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options.
    Thanks,

  • TS1559 WiFi greyed out - no WiFi on iPhone 4s with iOS 6.1.3

Two days ago I discovered my phone was suffering from the popular "Greyed out WiFi" syndrome.
On Settings> General> About the WiFi address appears as N/A. Bluetooth is working normally.
I have tried everything I have found on the matter on the Internet: Erasing the iPhone, Resetting Networks Settings, Restoring from iTunes, all of which has only led to my losing all my Apps and most definitely has not fixed the problem.
From what I have read, I believe it is a hardware problem and it cannot be fixed, but I don't undertsand why this happens randomly and for no reason (I updated to iOS 6.1.3 a while ago and only experienced the problem a couple of days ago) and I certainly don't understand how Apple is not responding / taking care of this situation considering the great amount of customers who are not being able to use the WiFi on their phones (which leads to an almost useless iPhone).
One of the most appreciated features of Apple products was the quick and effective technical support it offered, but this kind of issue certainly shows that Apple is changing and will stop treating their customers (who, by the way, pay the highest price on the market for its products) as it used to. The "Greyed out WiFi" is a completely random problem which is in no way caused by the users of the iPhone and Apple should be responsible for it.

    hello PH  Caulfield,
I had the same problem, I am also a bit disappointed in apple that they never fixed that problem, I had the same thing with my Iphone 4s. You cant fix this problem all you can doe is go to an apple retail seller and show them the problem and they will fore sure swap the phone for a new Iphone 4s

  • TS1559 Does anybody know why the wi-fi option on the iPod touch 3 g is unavailable after the upgrade to iOS 6? What I mean is that you can't click to the wi-fi options at all.

The wi-fi menu in my iPod touch 3 is unavailable, it says no wi-fi, does anybody know why?

If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

It is not related to a specific iOS update. It just happens occasionally to iOS devices.

If you did the troubleshooting for greyed out Wi-Fi with no result, this might be hardware related and the phone has to be checked by an Authorized Apple Service Provider or by Apple. You can find the contact info for your country by clicking on this link:

  • TS1559 iOS: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim

I have done everything from "Reset Network Settings" to "Erase All Content and Settings" and finally restoring the iOS Software (7.0.6), but the Wi-Fi settings are still grayed out. Bluetooth is also not getting enabled. Can anyone suggest what can be done?

  • TS1559 Genius bar guy tells me that iOS update and this procedure fried my wifi antenae

Have done this procedure several times after updating to 7.0.2. due to greyed out wifi.  Genius bar says wifi is dead... because the iOS update and this procedure fried/overheated the wifi antenae.  So I have to buy a new phone because I followed Apple's instructions?  Not cool, and in my opinion Apple should replace the phone.  Of course my warranty period is over, but when a manufacturer releases an update and a bug fix that you follow, which results in a fried phone... should they not take some responsibility?
This is a well documented problem, and many others have had phones replaced.

they usually only charge $19 if they need to do troubleshooting on a device and if they dont fix ur issue they refund it back. and even then they give exceptions to the fee left and right. plus, if u just want to talk to customer service or a senior advisor they WILL transfer u to them no matter what.

thank you for your help. I have already tried all that. If it is a hardware problem, and I am more convienced that it is, isn't odd that both of my phones have the same problem after updating software. What are the odds to that? So I believe that software update corrupted my wifi. As I could see I am not the only one with this greyed wifi issue that came with update. I hope you can understand my frustration.
Software cannot damage hardware.  However, the process of updating the iOS generates heat from the processor.  If the wi-fi chip (and a higher than normal percentage of iPhone 4S units have defective wi-fi chips) is damaged by this heat, the wi-fi will grey out.
It's not the software directly; it's the heat generated indirectly by the processor running at a higher capacity than normal.  In essence, it's a defect in the device, either a wi-fi chip that has lower than normal heat tolerance or a processor that generated higher than normal heat.
Hardware, not software.  And hardware issues are handled under the normal warranty or AppleCare, whichever you have.

that didn't help, would rollback to previous IOS work? if so best way to do this? thanks.

There is no supported method of downgrading iOS.
You have tried all steps in the article, including Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings? Try it again.
At the bottom of the article, it also states:
If you are still unable to turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on or off after attempting these steps, contact Apple or your wireless carrier for additional assistance.

  • TS1559 iOS app to determine what ports a particular IP or app is using?

Here's my problem...  I have an iOS app that controls my TV using IP.  I need to find out which ports it is using to do this so I can program a universal remote app.   Anyone know of a free to cheap iOS or OSX app that will capture and record ports being used for a particular target IP by a local app?  I'm using an Airport AP for my Wi-Fi network if that hellps.

Problem solved.  I found an Android app (Network Connections) that logs the ports used by every running app.  I loaded an app called 'Remote 2' that controls my  TV, then used 'Network Connections' to log the ports that the remote app was using.  There probably is an equivalent to Network Connections in the iOS world, but I couldn't find one.
