I am an engineer and I have tried every tweek to my airport router and unles you are standing 10ft from the ruter you get the unable to join network messsage.
naturally it work fine at the Apple Store who preformed a full reset on the phone. Other people are having this issue same a me and apple chooses not to acknowledge it, Maybe they will when I contact the consumer journalists at CNN ABC CBS & NBC news they love to here about Apple problems remember the Iphone 4 antenna issues!

Ipad 3 wifi " unable to join network "

my ipad 3 32 gb wifi , running latest ios 8.1 is unable to join network . i have tried every single method mentioning below :
1 . reset network setting
2. reset all setting
3. hard reboot
4. itune ios recovery
5. dfu recovery
6. updated from ios7 to latest ios 8.1
7. fail in joining network , even with correct password entered , showing "incorrect password "
8. fail to connect to open network , showing " unable to join network "
9. it cant connect to any wifi router however it can only be conected to internet via bluetooth tethering from my phone .
please guide me with your professional opinion . is this some sort of software glitch or hardware problem ? thanks

I don't know if this will work for you but I bought a new iPad Mini 3 this past week and I have Verizon Mifi. My new iPad mini3 would try to connect but couldn't. I went back to Verizon and the tech selected the option "Forget this network." When she did that, my Mifi came up again by itself. My iPad was searching for a connection and my Mifi showed up. After the connection showed up on it's own again, the tech was able to select the network and then selected the option to put in the password and that fixed the problem. I would have never thought selecting "Forget this network" would have worked but it did. I don't know if that will work for you.

IPad 2 can't connect to WiFi/unable to join network

The iPad 2 (WiFi only) initially had no problems whatsoever in the first several months after I bought it. Then I didn't use Internet on the iPad for 2-3 months, as there was no WiFi for that time. Now when I try to connect it to my WiFi, it either temporarily connects with a slow, patchy connection (spinning processing symbol on the top left corner) or the "Unable to join network" message pops up. All my other iDevices connect perfectly at a high speed. I have tried the following to no avail:
Reset network settings
Reset all settings
Turned router off/on
Same room as router
Forget network
Turned WiFi settings off/on
Restored to factory settings 3X
Changed WiFi password
Changed WiFi security
Changed WiFi name

Can't turn off router at the hotel, it hasn't worked at any wifi hotspot. I just never really monkey with it.

My wifi is on and when it tries to find a wifi connection, the gray little circle just keeps spinning and will not detect our home wifi. I have tried to search for it and connect to it manually, but it will not search for the network name. I'm hoping I don't need a new phone so please help.

I have an Iphone and the wifi works fine but i got a second one for my sister and with 5-6 networks in my building it cannot detect them . the "thinking circle" spins and spins and nothing .
I mentioned i have an iphone to let you know that i know how to use it and i have a wireless network set up in my apt plus other 4 of my neighbors .
maybe some of you experienced the same thing . i ran out of options ...is it a hardware problem ?

Try a fresh restore on the phone (do not install a backup) and see if this solves the problem.
Turn off your phone.
Restart your router (i.e. turn it off at the mains for 30sec the on).
Try accessing the network on your sisters phone only.
Failing that book into a Genius Bar at your local Apple store as this is potentially a hardware issue, due to the fact you have a phone that works fine.

For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. Learn How to Post and More i understand that your notebook finds and displays many network but not yours but another laptop does locate it. One of the easiest steps to try is to reset the router by removing power for approximately 20 seconds and then reconnecting the power. Give the router time to reset and come back up . Does you network now show? If your network is set to 5.0 GHz try changing the setting to mixed mode or 2.4 GHz as that is the best selection for HP notebooks. You are not addressing Apple here. If you have a problem, describe it and someone might be able to help. Just to be sure, the wi-fi on the phone will go off after the phone goes into sleep mode unless it is actively being used. This is a battery saving measure. If you are actively using the internet, and the phone is still awake, then the wi-fi should remain connected.
What troubleshooting steps have you tried.

Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then try again.

Hi. Bought New IPad and used it on commercial wifi spots like Starbucks, no problem. At home my Linksys sees my wifi network but when I enter password I get "unable to join network" error message. My IPad 2 connects as usual. Same password. No problem.
I rebooted router and then turned on New IPad. Same result. I re-set network settings to factory. Still get "unable to join network". Tried entering Security Key instead of password. No go.

found answer. Choose "other" network. Put Security Key in box asking for Password.
For me, entered WPA and Name of exisitng network.

my router is DLink Dir-615, and the iPhone 4(ios5.x),iPad2(ios5.x) and notbooks(windows 7) can connect to the router successfully.
And I tried to reset iPad mini's network, even reset all the settings, but still no luck.
I doubt it is the hardware issue of iPad mini. Pleasesssssssssssssse, HELP ME OUT OF IT.

What do I have to do if they still would refuse the change it? In fact I just searched for the warranty policy of apple.. So I got an problem after an update of apple, they recongized its their fault, their software fault.. In their warranty you can read the following: Cover of breakdown service or replacement with regard to. --> Lacks which arise after supply to the customer. So in fact i should get a new one?! Everytime I try to connect to my wifi it says unable to join network, my iphone did this to but then I had my router firmware upgraded. So it shouldnt be that.

If you are unable to select Forget This Network for the network on your iPad, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Network Settings. This will erase all wi-fi network settings from your iPad for every wi-fi network you have connected your iPad with.
If no change after this, do you connect your iPad to any other wi-fi network besides your own? If so, any problem connecting your iPad with any other wi-fi network?
