TS1591 iTunes stalling every time it opens

i just wondered if anyone knew what was wrong with iTunes 10? i cant upgrade until i figure out how to bypass Snow Leopard because dad mac needs Mavericks. His iphone wont show in iTunes and it stalls about every time it is opened.....
thanks Kim

try these user tips:
try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.
and, if you have flip4mac installed
I found that the TSLicense plugin was causing the problem.
From the log:
PlugIn Path: /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense
PlugIn Identifier: net.telestream.license
This pIugin is installed with the Flip4Mac Windows Media Components. I solved the problem by uninstalling the WM Components via the uninstaller at /Applications/Flip4Mac/Flip4Mac WMV Uninstaller.pkg, after which iTunes opens successfully.

  • ITunes crashes every time I open it

I just upgraded to the latest iTunes (11.???) and it crashes seconds after opening EVERY time I open it. I've tried copying the QTMovieWin.dll into Program Files but that didn't fix it.

Start by removing the QTMovieWin.dll file that you copied. Wrong fix for the wrong problem.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • ITunes freezes every time I open after upgrading to 9.1.1

So every time I open iTunes now (after I upgraded to 9.1.1) it starts updating my iTunes library. Problem is that it gets to a certain point in the updating (maybe 5%) and then it freezes the whole computer. I've never had any problems with iTunes before, and it worked just fine with 9.1 on here before. Once the computer freezes I cant even get to the task manager I have to force shut down my computer every time. Once I restart it is perfectly fine as long as I dont try and open iTunes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling...no dice same problem.
    Any ideas?

Same here. Here's what I've done so far to attempt to fix the problem:
    1) re-installed iTunes Setup (probably 4 or 5 times at this point).
    2) Uninstalled, Windows 7 and reverted to Vista (in the process lost my Windows activation passcode)
    3) Purchased a replacement passcode for Win.7 and re-installed. I think it cost me $115 (note: I'm married and unemployed, so adjusted price in proportion to my entire income is more like $1,000 when employed at previous income level)
    4) Ran several dozen different boot-up troubleshooting tips, including Windows error detection and repair and registry troubleshooting.
    5) Downloaded two FREE "alternatives" to iTunes
    6) Eventually upgraded both FREE services to full-activation in hopes that the extra features aquired would somehow fix the problem and allow me to sync my iPod with non-iTunes services(which was not the case).
    7) re-installed anti-Virus software and scanned (nothing still)
    8) installed new anti-virus software and scanned entire system again
    9) Purchased new anti-virus software (nope)
    10) reset iPod to default settings / wiped memory
    11) Used Safari to again attempt to download iTunes with no luck.
    12) Logged into another computer and tried to export/import entire library
    13) Probably a few more things I can't think of.
A lot of this is probably stupid to do (I'm an amatuer, but am still more proficient with computers than most people). Regardless--Apple should fix the issue causing the problem AND notify users of progess or other strategies. I have a moderate sized library all backed up to external sources, but this won't help until something is done and I can use iTunes as a media player--or some other company releases a compatible problem.
I've probably sunk $5-10,000 over several years of loyal patronage to Apple, but am nothing short of ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED by these circumstances.

  • ITunes freezes every time it opens

I'm at a loss... I don't know what else to do so hopefully someone has an answer. A few weeks ago I opened iTunes to play a song, and it stopped responding. I tried to force quit, and iTunes closed, but the program said it was still open in the dock. I tried to restart my computer, but it wouldn't work. After using activity monitor, force quitting, everything I knew, I had to hard restart.
I opened iTunes again. Same problem. Had to hard restart. I heard of some issues accessing files on external drives... so, I deleted iTunes, moved my 350 gig iTunes library to a different drive, repaired permissions, redownloaded iTunes, and tried again. Same problem. I can't use iTunes. Every time I try to open it, it stops responding and the only way to restart my computer is holding down the power button.
I've been without my music for two weeks now and I'm going crazy. What else can I do??

  • ITunes freezes every time i open it

shortly after upgrading to 7.3, i started itunes and it froze while playing a song. I force quit. i opened it again and it automatically went into the same playlist it was in before and froze before i could do anything (pinwheel of death). i even deleted itunes, reinstalled 7.2 and tried again. still froze. deleted, reinstalled 7.3. still froze.
Right now i cannot use itunes at all because it doesn't work. i don't know what to do.

I have the latest iTunes version 4.2.3 (I believe) and it has worked fine. Last night I had trouble in that it quit downloading several times and I restarted it. It finally finished downloading and the quit. I statrted it again and the it said that it was adjusting the volume for 1 of 8 files. It died here and has not been able to work again.
I have downloaded QT and iTunes twice, deleted the directories and have reinstalled. ITunes starts and then stops responding. I have to force it to close with Windows Task Manager.
I am at a loss as to how to correct this. I see in the threads that there are many with the same problem, but I have seen no solutions. I would sincerely appreciate any help that can offered.

For the past few weeks now wheni open iTunes, I have to sign into my account. It gets very annoying doing this all the time, it wasn't like this a few weeks or a month ago. Anyone with the same issue or a fix? without unstalling itunes and re installing it.

  • Every time I open it it's like the first time

Just moved to  a new system and had to re download itunes. now every time I open it it's like the first time having to  agree to the legal stuff and re adding the tool bars etc. Please help I have a windows 7 64 bit system and my old system was the same so I do not know why I'm having this problem!

McAfee AntiVirus by any chance? See the thread Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml?
Or it could be an issue with the SC Info folder. See TS1277 - iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization for details.

  • Need to re-add computer to iTunes Match each time I open iTunes

Every time I start up iTunes (10.6.1.7) on my Windows Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit), I see the cloud with lightening bolt icon next to the music item in the iTunes Library indicating that iTunes is not connected with iTunes Match.  I am able to work around the issue easily enough by clicking on the store menu, turning off iTunes Match, and then turning iTunes Match back on (and entering my Apple ID password and waiting a few minutes for iTunes Match to redo the initialization process).  I would like to actually solve the problem instead of having to work around it every time I fire up iTunes.  Any recommendations?
    Thanks!

I have iTunes 10.6.1(7) 64 Bit on OSX Lion 10.7.4 and I have to log into and resetup iTunes Match every time I open iTunes after I have restarted my Mac.

  • Since upgrading to iTunes 11, Spinning beach ball every time I open.

Every time I open iTuness 11, after about 30 seconds I get the spinning wheel of death for about 3 minutes. Most of the time it comes back but occasionally it locks up the Mac fully.  I have a MacBook Pro 1st Thunder Bolt generation, Core I7, 8GB RAM.
I have disconnected all USB and Thunderbolt connections and still every time I get it. I've deleted all of my itunes PLIST files, I do not have itunes match or the genius on, I've unchecked all the Store options in the preferences.  I'm running 10.8.2 with ALL patches of all programs.  It seems like it has to do with the Apple Store and possibly the cloud services even though I have all of them off?  I think it's the iTunes phone home to the mother ship thing myself....Also I have a decently fast Internet at the office and it does it anywhere I'm connected to the internet.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Turning off the Search entire library has helped
Click on the black arrow to the right of the magnifying glass in searc and Unticking Search Entire Library

  • Why is iTunes 11.1 asking me to create a new library every time I open it?

Every time I open iTunes 11.1 I have to load my library file manually...it does not just open automatically.  It asks if I want to create a new library or load a previous library each time I open the application.   I fixed permissions on my hard drive but it does not seem to help.  Also, Safari is acting strange...when I click on a link in a page it downloads the HTML file instead of opening the new link.  Lots of quirky stuff happening!  Had to restore my HD last night from Time Machine...still acting weird.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • 'iTunes Software Licence Agreement' every time I open iTunes

Since the most recent iTunes update, I'm getting the 'iTunes Software Licence Agreement' window every time I open iTunes (screenshot - http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5265/68707078.png) -- to which I have to select 'agree' to access normally.
Why? And anyway to stop this?
    Thanks in advance.

    *Replying to Gareth L*
Though on my own account, its still comming up with the "set up" screens before it starts.. any other ideas i could try?
iTunes setup assistant runs every time you launch, user-account-specific issue ... I think your other set of iTunes preference files (in your normal user account) might be damaged, Gareth. (Have experimented with this on my XP PC ... rebuild one set and the license agreement runs, rebuild the other set and the iTunes Setup assistant runs. So damage to the 'other" set might be causing your relentless-setup-assistant thing.)
So, we'll try swapping out your other set of pref files. Here's Windows 7 instructions. Make a note of any custom preferences you have set up, because this procedure will return everything to default that wasn't returned to default by rebuilding the other set. You might also have to reinstall any third-party iTunes add-ons/plug-ins after doing this one, too.
Here's Windows 7 instructions for rebuilding "the other set" *(Step 10* contains the crucial difference from the license-agreement-problem instructions).
First, quit iTunes if you have it open.
Next, you'll need to make sure you are set up to view hidden files and folders in Vista (or 7).
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
Next, you'll remove the iTunes preference folder (and contained file).
    6. In Computer, open Local Disk: C or whichever drive your documents are stored on.
    7. Open the Users folder.
    8. Open the folder with the name of the Vista (or 7) user account in which iTunes always shows the setup assistant in when launching.
    9. Open the AppData folder.
    10. Open the Roaming folder.
    11. Open the Apple Computer folder.
    12. Drag the iTunes folder out onto the Desktop.
Now you'll rebuild the preference folder and file.
    13. Launch iTunes. This will cause iTunes to rebuild that preference folder and file. *The setup assistant will appear for you again.* (That is expected behavior when that particular preference folder and contained file are being rebuilt.)
    14. Now quit iTunes and launch iTunes again. If the preference folder and contained file have been successfully rebuilt, the setup assistant should not appear this time.
    ... any luck with that?

  • Itunes 11 welcome screen every time I open the program.

    Yeah,
itunes 11 opens to welcome screen every time I open the programme.
    OS Win8
    very annoying
    help?

This is what worked for me!!!!!
    Close iTunes.
With Windows Explorer go to View in the top menu and allow Hidden Files.
    Navigate to:
    C:\Users\[which ever user is you]\Appdata\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete all files in this directory.
Start iTunes and see the Welcome Screen for hopefully the last time!
I am not an expert.  This was a stab in the dark based on the Mac ByHosts solution and it just happened to work for me.  Give it a try and let me know if it works.
    Good Luck!
