  • I am still unable to install itunes in Windows Vista

I have tried to run Fix it 4 times now after doing other things suggested in the Apple community and I am still unable to install itunes. Do you have any other ideas?
I've been uninstalling/reinstalling and using CCcleaner, sfcscannow and nothing seems to correct error msg 2- corrupt files found/unable to fix.  Now what??????
I am using windows Vista.  I NEED help!

nothing seems to correct error msg 2
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • TS1717 I have been running Itunes on windows vista and recently loaded Itunes on my Lap top which runs on Windows 7.  When I try to play my music the Lap top only play sample music.  Any suggestions?

I have a desk top which has Windows Vista.  On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time.  My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer.  I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match.  When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music.  Itune always goes to the sample music.  The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
Are you trying to use the Help -> Updates method?
Both those patches need to be manually applied to PSE 9.

  • Unable to install iTunes for Windows Vista

I recieved an apple ipod touch 32g for christmas and am unable to use it because I can not install iTunes.
I've tried following all the suggestion on other topics with similar problems.
Ive deleted Temp files and tried to install, Uninstalled all apple software from my computer and tried to reinstall. None of these worked.
I've also tried making a new user account and installing it there, and that hasn't worked either.
The error I am receiving is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I also received the error when i attempted to uninstall Apple Software Updater when i was troubleshooting. I got a fatal error trying to repair it and then i restarted my computer and it wasn't on my installed programs list anymore.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

That suggests we've got trouble with the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi (and related installation configuration information) on your PC.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unable to run iTunes on Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 on a ThinkPad x200. I have a iPhone 3Gs. I have tried to install the latest iTunes from the Apple site, both the 32 and 64 bit versions. Both fail to start with an error of "The ITunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)." Any insights would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem. Since I could not get iTunes to run anymore, I checked if QuickTime wuold run...since iTunes relies on it. QuickTime will not start. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
If I start QuickTime, it terminates without any message or any window opening on the screen.
When I check the systems' application error log I see this error...until it is fixed, QuickTime, iTunes, Paint Shop, and of course my iPhone all are plagued with issues!
I tried the complete deinstall, delete files, etc., reinstall resolution. I tried a different account, also errored. I tried selective startup to only start the apple applications, also errored.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • HT1567 cannot import cd into iTunes using Windows Vista

I have tried everything and am unable to import an MP3 audio CD into iTunes using Windows Vista. I am able to import regular audio CDs. Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I would first suggest recreating your iTunes library file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
If that doesn't resolve it, try pulling your iTunes preferences:
Quit iTunes if it is running.
    Navigate to /User/Library/Preferences/
    Drag com.apple.itunes.plist to the trash
    Restart the Mac
    Launch iTunes again

  • Unable to install ituns on windows 7 64 missing .dll file

Unable to install ituns on windows 7 64. Installer states missing .dll file.

Here is a solution that worked for a user who also had a problem with iTunes Software Support. This thread was for a win32 version, but Maybe this is the problem for both of you?:
IT appears that AppleApplicationSupport.msi, is not opening and installing properly.
Download and SAVE iTunesSetup.exe, where you can find it.
    Then:
    1. Download and install WinRAR.
    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.
Here is a link to that fairly lengthy thread.. http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2151777&tstart=-1

  • Cant install any version of itunes on windows vista, does anybody know of a fix?

cant install any version of itunes on windows vista, does anybody know of a fix?

Since you don't say why it won't install, here is what I have found to work on a Vista machine, 32-bit:
Download but do not install iTunes file from Apple site
    Stop anti-virus and firewall
    Restart computer
    Login as Admin
    Run iTunes installation
    Turn anti-virus and firewall on
Restart and login as regular user
Vista likes to leave a lot of installers running in the background even when they finish and that interfers with the iTunes installer.

  • ITunes on Windows Vista and audio CDs

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes for Windows Vista. I actually tried this before the new version came out and my audio CDs wouldn't play correctly. I tried everything in the article "Audio does not play or plays incorrectly" and it didn't work. I thought it might be the system, so I waited until the new version came out. When it did, I downloaded it, but my CDs still don't play correctly. I tried everything in the article again and it still didn't work. Now I'm at a dead end. Help!

I have the exact same problem...!!! I posted a couple of weeks ago and still no help. Not only do I not get any audio from my CD's, I cannot RIP music from them either. All audio and drive functionality work with all other players. Drive diagnostics report no problems. I am seriously considering switching to another MP3 player. (All this after purchasing multiple IPOD's) I run Vista Home Premium on a new DELL. I have no other issues as of yet.
