TS1702 app is installed but keeps telling me on phone there's an update

I  installed an app on my phone and it has synced to iTunes.  There's been an update and I have updated it through iTunes (as it's over 40mb).  My phone however still keeps telling me there is an update and I can't get rid of it.  Anyone any ideas.  I've tried re-starting my phone!

if your phone has ever been replaced by Apple (within or outside of warranty), have Apple check their records to which carrier your iPhone (its IMEI number) is currently locked to.
If it is locked to any other than the carrier you have your SIM-card from, ask the folks at Apple to have your phone's lock adjusted to your carrier. Once that is done, there is a good chance that your phone will work again.
