TS1702 App not appearing in open with menu

Has anyone found apps not appearing in the open in menu

Does the app support the type of file that you are trying to 'open in', and how many apps do you currently have in that file type's list ? There is a limit of, I think, 10 apps in the list

yeah probably it's a droplet as you said and might get created while I ran something on Bridge the other day. And it took too long so I force quit it so may be that's why it become some encrypted text.
But do you know how can I get rid of it?

  • CS6 apps in "Open with" menu with CC version OSX

    Hi!
Why does CS6 apps appear in "Open with" menu with CC version OSX? I haven't installed them? how to remove? Apps do not work...

Esaheiskanen, looking at the screenshot, I understand that it was removed properly.
You can simply go to >>>> Go> Utilites> Adobe Installer's and remove the CS6 App installed, Make sure you put a check on "Remove Prefrences" too.
Alternatively, you run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, to remove the CS6 Version.

  • "Open with" menu displaying the same apps several times...

I've tried googling this several times but never really found a good answer nor a way to solve this (see image below)...
As you can see, the "open with" menu displays the GROUP OF APPS several times, not just the apps themselves... Funny thing is, this only happens when I navigate with the keyboard to the "open with" option, i.e., if I highlight it with the mouse a correct menu pops up...!
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
NOTE: This has happened to me since Leopard.

Ok, I will try your suggestion (reinstalling Snow Leopard), maybe not today or tomorrow since this is my work computer but when I have a little time off...
Just so you can see the "error in action" (the 'insert video' button was disabled, hence the link): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10042917/Error.mov
It's a screen recording of me trying to "open with" an image file 1st using the mouse and then using the keyboard (NOTE: if the first navigation in the menu is done with the keyboard, i.e., if you highlight "open" using the keyboard and then navigate to "open with" with the mouse I will still get the repeated menu while... in other words, the use of the keyboard always activates the repeated menu.)
Anyway, thank you for your help

  • Open with menu not showing icons

Hi, since i installed Mavericks i've been experiencing some issues, and the one i need to solve right know is this:
In this example is only with media players but it happens with other apps too, both system and non-system apps. I've tried this command:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain user;killall Finder;echo "Open With has been rebuilt, Finder will relaunch"
that is used to delete duplicated items on "Open With" menu but it doesn't solve this Icon issue.. I also deleted com.apple.LaunchServices.plist  from ~/Library/Preferences/  and it didn't helped. I don't know what to do anymore.
Please help me out with this, i don't want to do a fresh install again.

OS X does that constantly. If you click anywhere away from the contextual menu to close it, then perform the same right click, then they'll show.

  • Open with menu not showing photoshop

Using Bridge CC when I right click on picture to show open with menu it wont show Photoshop cc 2014. How do I fix that?

A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

  • "open with" menu suddenly showing multiple copies of all apps - HELP!!

Recently, the "open with" menu that pops up when I right click a file on my desktop has started showing multiple copies of all applications, and it's getting WORSE! It started out a few weeks ago doing this with one extra copy of only one application, but now there many, many copies of all apps - different numbers of copies depending on the app.
This is somehow related to the fact that I have an external G-Drive USB connected, which I am using as my backup drive. I copied everything onto this drive using SuperDuper. When the G-drive is connected, I get the error message below  if I pick the "wrong" copy of an app. When I eject the G-Drive, I STILL see multiple apps, but get no error message, and any one of the app copies I select will open properly.
    IMac G5, PPC, OSX 10.4.11
    Thank you for any help!

I'm glad you found a solution, please mark your post with a green correct, so that others can see the solution as well.

  • Why are there duplicate results in the Open With menu?

I own an iMac with the latest version of OSX (I forget what it is). As you can see in this image, I am going to open an image using the Open With menu, and there are a lot of repeats. In addition to the repeats, some apps show up that no longer exist and some apps don't show up that still do exist. For example, I no longer have RockMelt on my operating system. I also don't have the version of Pixelmator listed: I trashed that version and installed a different version, but when I click on Pixelmator in the menu, it reverts to Preview because that version of Pixelmator no longer exists. This is a minor issue but it is really bothering me because whenever I want to open Pixelmator, I have to go through the whole process of clicking Other and browsing my applications folders to get to it. Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated and I would reward you with imaginary cookies (Yum!).
    Seriously though, I need help.

Boot in safe mode. This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.

  • Can you add Programs to Open With Menu

Is there a way to add programs to the Open With Menu.  For example, when you right click on a file you can choose to open it with the default application by selecting Open, or choose other programs to open it with by selecting Open With.  Only a few of the programs that can open the files are listed.  Is there a way to add programs that I use to list in that list.  Right now, everytime I want to open something in a program that is not listed I have to go to Other... and find it in the Application folder.  Which is not too convenient.  Many programs that I use to open files are not listed for many types of file types, I open them frequently using the Open... window, and I was hoping that Mac would learn to add them, but it did not.
For example, I have VMWare with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 in it, my default application for WORD documents is Word for Mac 2011, but occasionally I need to open it in Word 2010 in Windows (Certain features that are missing in Mac Word), and I have to browse to fin the Word 2010 Application from the Application Folder.  Another example is a program (from the App Store) called ResizeIt (which resizes photos), I have to browse for it everytime even though it is an application just for images.
So, is there a way to edit the Open With Menu for specific file types to include these programs that I use, or do I have to keep browsing to the Application folder and finding it there?
    Thank you in advance!!

  • Make x64 default with "open with" menu

Ive seen several threads to make x32 the default but not to many to make x64 the defualt. It appears that once the install is made I cannot only uninstall the 32 bit photoshop, only both at the same time. I have recently moved from cs4 to cs5. Everything was working perfectly until I decided that I had fully made the transition and uninstalled CS4. Now Im having trouble getting images to open with photoshop in x64 mode. .PSDs will open with the defualt x64 but I use a different viewer for .jepgs. I typicaly open these file types with the right click "open with" command. Unfortunately this command always opens the file in 32 bit mode. I have even tried to use "open with - choose default program" and navigate to the Photoshop X64 folder and select the 64 bit executable from there, but it still opens with 32 bit photoshop. All I want if to be able to use the "Open With" menu to open .jpegs in 64 bit mode. Any advice? Thanks.

Solved it using this guide only pointing to the x64 bit instead.
    http://forums.devshed.com/photoshop-help-88/file-association-opens-with-64-bit-photoshop-n ot-32t-724373.html
    Solved it!
In my desperation I just began searching the registry for "Photoshop.exe" - There it had the path for the "Photoshop" that you see when you try to change an association (picking the 32bit version using "open with" doesn't matter because it recognizes it as Photoshop and defaults back to whatever the program is in this registry key).
This should make Photoshop 32 bit open every time you open a Photoshop-associated file.
Here is what I did, for anyone coming from Google:
    Start > Run > regedit
    Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\edit\command
Changed the value to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
(old one was the 64 bit path and executable)
    Did the same with HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command

  • GDM no more "open with" menu after last Gnome upgrade (3.16.0)

    Hi,
Using nautilus, I used to have an "open with" menu showing a list of alternative applications to open a file, such as in this picture:
    https://ubuntugenius.files.wordpress.co … .png?w=500
This was quite handy as I could use different applications to open the same type of file without changing the default association each time I use an alternative application.
Since I have updated my system, Gnome has been upgraded and now there is only an "open with another application" entry in the "right click menu", which, if I use it, change the default application for the type of the selected file.
The list of alternative applications is still the same as before, but the behaviour is now different, since these application do not appear directly in the menu any more, and since selecting any of them will change the default file-application association. For me, this is a bit annoying since I wants to use two different applications to open the same type of file.
I could not find anything on the internet related to this vanishing of the "open with" menu.
I am curious to know if anybody has the same problem as me. I wonder if it is a feature or if there is a problem somewhere?

That behavior of nautilus seems to be a new "feature". I really have no idea why they change such things.
At least, there's allready a bugreport for this:

  • Divided Open With menu

In Leopard, but never an OS before, the Open With Menu has some dividers in it. They don't always show up, or show up in the same places, and I've not been able to make sense out of it. I don't have any classic apps installed. Any idea why or how this is happening? See http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3025/picture1vz9.png

On my computer the divider is usually below the default app.
However on a PDF I just looked at, there is a second divider like yours, just above Color Sync Utility.app
There might be primary and secondary apps, to the system, that can open the file.
But since I can duplicate what you are seeing, it's most likely normal.
On most files, I do not see this second divider, but on PDFs (and possibly others) I do see it.

  • "Open with" menu cluttered

    Hello,
When I choose to open a jpeg using the "open with" menu I have to wait while a large number of programs like "constrain to 64 pixels.exe" load. Is there any way to choose which programs appear in this menu?
    Thanks,
    Andy
    Imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    HI Fausty,
While selecting a jpg image, press the "ctrl" key. A pop up menu will open. Where it says: Open With, there should be a list of apps that can read jpg, just click one.
    Also, the "constrain to 64 pixels.exe" ...
EXE is the common filename extension for denoting an executable file (a program) in the OpenVMS, DOS, Microsoft Windows, and OS/2 operating systems. "Executable" and ".exe" are used as adjectives proceeding "file" or "program", rather than alone as nouns.[1] You might want to trash that file.

  • Is there a way to get Adobe Camera Raw to appear in "Open With" drop down?

    HI,
I was wondering if there might be a way to get a direct link to Adobe Camera Raw to appear in "Open With" drop down menu along with the other choices?

I would think you'd just need to select the Adobe Application you're using... whichever that one is, then the APP would know what to do with RAW.
What are they set for now?

  • TA24770 Clear Finder "Open With" menu with VMware Fusion 5

    Hi.
I had same problem of duplicate Apps showing on Finder "Open With" contextual menu.
After following instructions on this link http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24770?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  all Mac applications where OK, but could not see VMware Fusion Virtual Machine applications in Finder contextual menu.
    So follow these steps:
    Shut down virtual machine.
    Open virtual machine settings.
    Go to Default Applications.
    Click "Restore Applications".
    Start virtual machine.
This should reset contextual menu in Finder with the VMware Fusion 5 applications.
