hey guys, im trying to update my apps. im logged in under a new apple id but when i need to type my password it reverts back to my previous apple id. how do i change this as i am logged in with the current one. cheers

I have the same problem, my iphone lets me update apps only bu my husband's ID... (even though they have been purcased on my credentials) if we deleted and reinstalled apps???

Apps are forever tied to the ID that was used to purchase them. You'll need to use the password to the old Apple ID to update them or delete them and buy them again under your new Apple ID.
This is why you don't change Apple IDs if at all possible. If your email changes, you can always update the Apple ID.

I have tried signing out of the APP Store and ICloud and iTunes and the APP Store will not let go of my old original apple ID. An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID" and I have never heard of a user ID that could not be deleted or changed!!! I am a former long time PC user and I like the Apple products, but the whole iCloud, Apple ID business seems very complicated to me. I am dreading carrying a 27 inch computer to the Apple store to fix something that should not be so complicated.

Actually, it is more than that. If you read the licensing agreements for any OS version or app obtained at the app store, it will become clear: the license for any app or OS obtained at the app store is not transferable. Hence it is tied to your Apple ID and will remain so - it cannot be removed.
You are supposed to remove anything obtained at the app store from the computer before giving/selling it. Your father will also not be able to reinstall the OS if need be.
Which OS version was on the Mac originally? You will need to use internet recovery (Command + Option + R) to erase your drive and then reinstall the original OS (if Lion or later). If it came with an install DVD, boot from that, erase the drive and reinstall. After that, your father can very easily download/update/reinstall any OS or app using his own Apple ID.

Sign out of iTunes and sign in with the new ID. On your computer, under on of the iTunes menus, on your iPad Settings > iTunes and App Stores and tap on the Apple ID.
Note that all apps downloaded under the previous ID are locked to that ID, and you will have to sign back onto it for any updates.

Just cloud the sync once, activate the comp to your apple I'd in iTunes, ensure all software is up to date, turn on home sharing between the devices and you can reinstall the apps from the apple id purchase history via download.
You basically cleaned out the canonical data apple uses to validate all that, which was backup data. Like iOS devices have the purchased option on the App Store now, syncing the devices via the home sharing and properly activating them will give your comp the purchased cloud and free up 10gs of space on the precious solid states smaller drives.

Did you change the ID you are using for iCoud? If so, did you delete the account, then sign back in with your new ID on your device?

The ID is used in the following locations and you have to change them.
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
Settings>iCloud
and Settings>iTunes and App store
You have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
Note:
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts
