iPhoto just froze so I Force Quit the iPhoto app and now I have lost half my (hundreds) of photos. How do I restore them?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

dears, i have purchased a new macbook pro with lion os, then after a while for a notification to update the iPhoto app, and when i tried to update it said that unable to update, then i uninstalled it, then i tried to install it but it said these apps connot be installed on this computer!!!!!
what should i do
this problem started to annoy me, as am not able to edit any photo.
pls help ASAPThanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.

It sounds like you are getting some unexpected behaviour from an app you downloaded from the App store. I want to recommend the troubleshooting outlined in this article named:

2. Check for app updates
You can setup apps to update automatically in Settings > iTunes & App Store, but make sure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
If prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the app updates.
Note: Some apps may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You can also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
4. Restart the app
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app.
5. Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
6. Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-right corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and then download it again.
Note: If it is a paid app, ensure you are using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it is not, you may be asked to purchase the app again. Learn more about downloading previously purchased items.
7. If the issue is still unresolved, contact the developer
If you continue to experience the issue, contact the developer of the app for further assistance:
Find the app in the App Store.
Open the app's page, tap Reviews, and then App Support.

i downloaded the GV app to my iphone but i'm trying to set up the app and it says it can't connect to google when i try to sign in to my google account.... any ideas what's wrong? i can access my gmail account just fine with my gmail app on the same phone

Moved the iPhoto app and now it's hosed
I recently went through my Applications folder and decided that I would clean it up by moving some apps into folders. I started with CS3, and all those applications got hosed afterwards, but were fine once I took them out of the newly created folder. However, I did the same thing wiht the iLife apps, and now my iPhoto is hosed. Before I took it out of it's newly created folder, iPhoto would freeze at the window asking me if I wanted to use iPhoto when I connect a digital camera. Then when I moved iPhoto back to the Apps folder itself, it now beachballs when loading my library. I've tried trashing my prefs and even replacing them from a backup. I have a full backup from about a week ago, but I'm not sure what I would replace to get iPhoto back to living.
Any ideas?

Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. I have an iPhone 3GS, it's on iOS 6.1.3 but I'm unable to download the podcasts app because it says it requires iOS 7 or later.because of this I cannot download any type of music or ringtone.apple has done very bad as they r now only dealing with the latest and forgot about the previous customers. Any easy solution??
It was not legitimately unlocked by the carrier it was originally locked to. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
In order to allow it to be used on a different carrier, the phone was hacked or jailbroken. An unauthorized modification was made to the phone. That modification has damaged the phone. You can not get support for it here or from Apple. -
I have the beats app and it won't let me subscribe help!!

Apple acquired Beats and may not be allowing new subscriptions. No one knows what their plans are, but your best bet is to contact Apple Support for more information - as it says.

I downloaded the Comcast mobile app, it was updating emails until today....not sure what to do...help
Something to chek, open a document, press CMMAND P, this will bring up the print screen, you can click on the arrow to expand the options
Then click on the presets and make sure that the preset you want is selected.
From the preset drop menu you can select Plain paper best or fast draft, which should then be color.

I don't know what to do. I've restarted, I've tried redownloading and updating. It's really frustrating and upsetting. If anyone could help it'd be appreciated!!
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If the new library can be created and open without a problem make a temporary, backup copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

A couple days ago I first noticed the problem when snapchats would appear on my lock screen but when I opened the app I kept getting the error message that the app was not able to refresh my story. Then the next day I was no longer able to send iMessages, they wouldn't go through and would only reach the second party when I sent them as text messages. Also, YouTube won't load and Mail won't send or receive email. I've already tried restarting my phone but there was no change. At first I thought my network connection was the problem but Instagram, Safari, Vine and Pandora all work perfectly. Any suggestions?
Try this procedure to be sure of a proper restart.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
I would also try: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings -
Apps and printer won't work after downloading mavericks
Since downloading OS X Mavericks I have encountered the following problems: Unable to print from Illustrator & Photoshop. Illustrator and Photoshop crash. Macintosh HD will not always show contents (applications, library, user, etc), Unable to use Microsoft Office. LaCie External hardrive will not open. Is there a fix for these issues?
