Only if you can restore those apps from an PC backup of your iTunes. If you did not include the iTunes library in your PC backup routine, you can't install older versions of apps again.

  • Can I use older versions of unactivated iPhones in the classroom as "clickers" to use with Socrative online?

I'm curious about using unactivated iPhones in the classroom.  If I can get about 20 parents to donate older version of iPhones can I use them to record video or take pictures and then plug them into the computer to download the content captured?  I also want to know if there is some way to use the wifi feature in the classroom to connect to the internet and use the unactivated devices as a classroom tool for students to enter answers to questions posted in Socrative online.
As I typed that all out I realized that most likely I can not use an iPhone to access wifi and a page online but perhaps I could still use them as handheld cameras to capture moments in the classroom and download the pictures once attached to the usb cord.
Any adviace about getting unactivated iPhones in use at school would be very helpful.  Thanks in advance.
**I teach middle school Science and want to be more individualized within the content we teach.  This would help.. so would 15 iPads with service.  If I could only win the lottery I'd be unlimited with what we could do in the classroom.  Thanks again.

yeah, you can use deactivated iphones as cameras. when you plug them into the computer, the OS will ask what you want to do with the photos on the device. you will import them and they'll be editable files on the computer after that

  • How can i instal an older version of an iphone app?

Two apps (NYTimes and NPR Player) stopped working on one of my two iphone 3G's:  the app logo comes up, then it's back to the home screen.  One of these apps (NYTimes) was recently updated, so I figured I'd go back to an earlier version.  I was able to retrieve the .ipa file from the recycle bin, put it in the folder with the other apps, "hid" the recent version (after having de-installed it from the phone), but I can't seem to be able to fool iTunes into installing it on the phone.  I guess somewhere it knows what the latest version is, and won't accept any substitutes.
My other 3G is identically configured but it can (still) run these two apps.  I know it's an old model, but it's still useful.  My "main" phones are two 4S's.
    Any thoughts or ideas?  Thanks,
    -- Bob

You shouldn't need to.  Just update the iTunes application or download the newest version from here.

  • Why doesn't Apple make iPhoto free to older versions of the iPhone, iPad, or iPod? They made it free for the new products and I don't understand they don't make it free for every device.

I want iPhoto and iMovie and I don't understand why Apple doesn't make them free for every device they have.

They are not exactly free on the new devices either. iMovie and iPhoto are included, when you buy a new device. You're purchase price for your older devices did not include the apps, so you have to buy them, sorry.

  • I would like to ask if i can switch my older version of an iphone and cash for a newer one

    as title says

You can either use Apple's recycling program if it's available in your country, or sell it to a third party.

    Hey Nathan,
I know it can be a bit frustrating to try to get a version of an application that will work on an older iOS version. This article explains how to do it -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Install older versions of my purchased Apps on iPhone 4

Will I be always able to install older versions of my purchased Apps on iPhone 4, forever, even if I do not ever upgrade the IOS? I am using iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1 at present. I want to install my purchases from App Store and not have to worry about saving previous vesions of my apps in iTunes. It is important for me to fully understand the rescrictions imposed by Apple platforms, before I invest.

On your device, check Settings>General>Software Update. Since you are still on iOS 6.x.x, you should have a software update available to you (iOS 7.x.x). Normally, you will see a "Download and Install button with the size of the download being displayed. However, if you see a "Downloaded" with an "Install" button, you have graciously been given a gift by Apple. They have downloaded the iOS 7 update for you automatically which is now using up to 3.1 GB of your memory to sit on the device, even if you DO NOT want to install it. There is also no way to delete it (aside from pressing the Install button).

  • Install an older version of app into iPhone

Hi, I have an older version of an app installed in my iTunes.
How do I install that into my iphone without messing up the organization of the apps, or syncing every app with the settings in the iTunes? This issue is driving me nuts. All I want to do is, add the older version of app into my iPhone without changing any other thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.
    I'm using iPhone 4, with the latest iOS 5. (i think it's iOS 5.1)

and by clicking "syncing", 64 of my apps got deleted from my iphone. Most of them are paid apps, and I don't even know what are gone. Why is Apple making syncing stuff so difficult and user unfriendly?

  • TS1702 How do I get an older version of the Facebook app, that will work on an iPhone 3G, without Jailbreaking it, etc.   ?

How do I get Facebook for a 3G without jailbreaking the phone? Is it possible?

Sorry no, Facebook has taken the older version out of the App Store.

  • How do I find, download, and install an older version of the Netflix app?

I was using the Netflix app when it froze up trying to start playing an episode of a TV show. Rebooting my iPhone 5 didn't unfreeze it, so I deleted the app. When I went into the App Store to download it again, it said I had to update to iOS 7.0 or higher in order to download the Netflix app. In the past, the App Store has given me the option to download an older version of the app and this has always fixed any problems I have had with it. Next, I tried logging into iTunes on my laptop (I'm working in Windows, in case that makes a difference) to see if it would give me the option to download an older version of the Netflix app there, but that didn't work either. Finally, I called Netflix's customer support help desk line, but they told me they have no app link to send me and no control over which old editions Apple chooses to offer in the App Store, and that my best bet was to go ask you fine folks if you have any possible solutions.
(The reason I can't simply upgrade from my current setting of iOS 6.1.4 is that when Apple released iOS 7.0, even with adjustments to the color contrast, the reduced motion feature enabled, and sunglasses on, using my iPhone 5 for more than 5 minutes at a time gave me projectile-vomit-inducing migraines that lasted 24 hours each time. I'm disabled so I use my iPhone for pretty much everything, though I would say about 95% of my usage time is watching movies and TV shows on apps like Netflix for entertainment -- distraction is a huge part of my pain control plan, because so few medications help me -- because it's more convenient than using my laptop in bed, both in terms of distance to available power outlets and in terms of how I'm able to position my disabled body most comfortably. So I'm not just being a stupid stubborn girl here, I just couldn't make iOS 7.0 work for my disabled body and I don't currently have the financial resources to trade my iPhone 5 in and go buy an Android smartphone that does work for me...though I'm increasingly suspicious that this may be my only option.)
I tried downloading older Netflix apps compatible with iOS 6.1.4 in various public forums online as one of my friends recommended, but when I moved the old Netflix app into my iTunes Library, it kept asking me for the password of the original iTunes account that downloaded the app in order to access it and sync it to my iPhone 5. And I haven't been lucky, no one has been using their username or "password" as the password. I have yet to find a download link offer the username/password combo in the details for new downloaders, so if any of you have an old version of the Netflix app that's compatible with iOS 6.1.4 and want to share your username/password combo with me (after which you should change your password for safety, obviously), I couldn't possibly be more grateful.

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.

  • I have an older version of itunes on my L drive.  Everytime I try to download the newest version I get the error itunes.resources is not a valid short file name.  Now I obtained an iphone and cannot sync the phone to my account because it wants me to upda

I have an older version of itunes on a separate drive.  Everytime that there has been an update to itunes it will not let me update.  Now I purchased an iphone and I hooked the phone up to the computer and it tells me I need to install the latest version of itunes.  I downloaded to try it, but I keep getting an error message that says itunes.Resources is not a valid short file name.  What can I do from here?

That is a new one on me.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

Can not update iTunes because I have iMac with 10.5.8 . How I will sync my iphone 6.0 with an older version of iTunes on my iMac???? There is no update for the software of my iMac and no update for the iTunes.... So how can I sync????

    Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

It's always a good idea to check the requirements before purchasing.
The person I spoke with at 1-800-MY-APPLE gave me totally different info...she said the iPhone 5 would in fact sync with the older version of iTunes and that I could restore from my previous iPhone 4 backup and also bring in my music that way.  Hmmm....
I'm inclined to go by the published specs, but now I have to jump thru a bunch of hoops I wasn't expecting to.

Highly unlikely that it says any such thing.
Try telling us exactly what version of iTunes is installed and what if any messages appears when trying to update it.
What Operating System is the computer running?

  • Downloading an older version of Facebook for Iphone

I have an iPhone 3g and I would like to download the facebook that is compatible with it

You can't. The only way you could install an older version was if you had that older version stored on your computer.
I used to save all older versions of apps when I had an original iPhone and a 3G but I sold those over a year ago and deleted the apps.
